Well, it's really interesting 'cause you know what, in my opinion it is mostly a Scandinavian thing. If you base your thoughts solely on the way men in Sweden treat girls shorter than themselves then, allow me to introduce another point of view from the other parts of the world:
1. Singapore: I live in SG and I am 1.78 myself. Here's in our country it is not that uncommon for guys like me to date 1.50 - 1.6 girls. I once had an ex who was 1.52 at a time for sure. Well, in Asian countries height is not a decisive factor when men looking for a lover. Asian girls aren't known for being tall, you already knew that I guess ! I don't know what is the case in Sweden, but in here people only care about her look: skin color (white or dark;) cause we prefer white girls), her face (pretty or mild) and personality (does she read alot or know how to cook etc.)
These are all deciding factors that make you respect a girl in my country. That's why I think your worry is mostly just a cultural thing I guess. Different parts of the world have different ways of thinking. Therefore you shouldn't be too concerned about your height, Lelia;)
My second case is referred to China. I am Singaporean and I can speak Chinese too. I visited China many times and: in HERE the ratio between women and men is somewhat low: 0.91 or sth, meaning there are more males than females here, so you guess: women here are kings / queens or jewels. They expect men to be successful, handsome and reliable. Men in China have to compete really hard with other males to stand out, be successful in the hope that they can get married with a girl. 'Cause there aren't many girls available.
#For many Chinese men that I know (and my point of view too): a small girl is kinda cute, 'cause she would be small enough so that us men can embrace and cuddle. In country like Japan or Vietnam I heard that they prefer petite too, for the same reason: cuteness. So It shouldn't matter what men in your country think I guess, as long as you know your absolutely NOT small compared with girls in other countries;)
TOO LONG DIDN'T READ:
+Being in 'small' in ONE country doesn't mean the same in other countries.
+In most Asian countries height isn't really an issue for women (men only) as long as she's above 1.50 (60% of the world's population is Asians in case you didn't know)
+Each culture has their own 'model' of beauty, so you shouldn't spend too much time worrying about heights, you only live once. Peace ! ^^
