+1. i7 9700k is faster than i9-9900k in games, especially for single threaded apps (cs go for example). i9-9900k is only for heavy multi threaded tasks, for very high quality streaming. Also, motherboard for i9 cpu is more expensive than that of i7.

Is it true 8700k is better in games than 9700k because it has 16 threads compared to 9700k's 8 threads?

8700k has 6c/12t compared to 9700k's 8c/8t. They're pretty much the same when compared in gaming (everything comes to how hard can you overclock them), in the workload with 8700k you'll gain performance in heavily thread-dependent programs, but lose it in programs that don't scale very well

I don't really know where you got that information but its wrong.
2019-02-10 16:38
Got it in Custom PC. i9 9900k is all about multi threaded performance. i9 beats i7 in heavy games and softwares utilising multi threads.
2019-02-10 18:37
Yes but in all others it is equal to i7 since it has the same IPC (I have both)

I have 8700k + RTX 2070 and my csgo lagging on 1920x1440 resolution even on low settings what a joke

i7 - 8700k 16GB RAM GTX 1080Ti on low res on dd2 at some spots 800fps , most of the time 500 ..(same on high res, i dont know why) other maps on high res 300-400 all the time
2019-02-10 16:23
you must have fucked up something I7 7700k + GTX 970 here 300-450fps ~ on comp 250-300 on community dm with 24 players

when I play cs it says that my GPU is loaded up to 90% which is weird but if I lower my resolution a bit then everything is fine. but the only resolution that I can play good on is 1920x1440 so idk what to do
2019-02-10 15:29
maybe that res is confunsing the fuck out of your pc I play on 1280*960
2019-02-10 15:34
I told u it's fine on other resolutions I get 300-400 fps constantly but if I use 1920x1440 then it starts to lag
2019-02-10 15:35
whyre you using that res on cs?

It's not like CS is a pretty game to begin with. If you care about graphics there are other fps's out there.

Custom res slows your pc to some extent. If you want higher fps in cs go, disable hyper-threading in bios.

i9-9900k is definitely more future proof, it's arguably the best CPU at the moment and I am sure it will be decent for at least 4 - 5 years. When it comes to GPU, avoid all the RTX hype and jump to 1080 TI, if you can afford it. It's really good, not too expensive (relatively speaking) and allows SLI. Avoid 1060, because its age is coming to a conclusion and 1070 just does not make sens when there's 1080 on the market. Good luck.
2019-02-10 15:24
rtx 2070 is faster and much cheaper than the gtx 1080

How much I love the internet. When you ask whether you should get a 1050/1050ti ppl will tell you to get a 1060 bcs the 1050 is getting outdated. If you ask whether you should get a 1060 ppl will tell you the same as with the 1050. What a joke.

For games i wouldnt agree with you By the time 8700k will get outdated, 9900k will be too, there will simply be new architecture

When will people learn that new architecture means wack shit, look at amd. They can't even compare to intel with all that new architecture bullshit. All I hear is wait for this wait for that, meanwhile people with overclocked 4790k are having no issues to this day.

"They can't even compare to intel with all that new architecture bullshit" what?XDDDD they outperform intel pretty much everywhere but the one-core performance, which will be also outperformed by them with the ryzen3xxx ryzen had a double of intel core marketshare in q4 2018

In your dreams maybe, intel was always better for gaming. ''which will be also outperformed by them with the ryzen3xxx'' yeah ahahahah, that's what they said for ryzen and every other shit AMD came up with.

xd you clearly are living under a rock the best ryzen SKU will have 16c/32t @ 5.1GHz under 7nm node with an io die and ipc beating current intel's (if you even know what that means), which is unmatchable by intel at least in the next year considering their 14nm struggle that hasn't been solved yet and if you really think that architecture means shit, try to compare any Nehalem chip to a Coffee Lake one, even with downclocking and disabling cores to match the Nehalem one.

The higher the resolution the less the cpu matters. Even constant 60 fps is still impossible for the best graphics cards at high settings at 4k, so at that resolution a i5-8400 or an amd would also be enough. For maximizing fps in csgo, you'd want an unlocked intel of course. Also, the more threads a game utilizes, the harder it becomes to further parallelize work. More threads mean that stuff are calculated on multiple streams that are independent of each other. But, in games, many things depend on previous calculations as opposed to, say, rendering, so at some point it becomes impossible to increase performance by upping thread count.

What I want to say is, I would advice against buying a top of the line cpu before you have a top of the line graphics card, if your main use case is gaming at 1440p+ res.

i9 is unnecessary for gaming so the latest i7 would cut the mustard. I maybe wouldn’t get the 8 series though because the 9 series has a new chipset, so you’ll have to buy a new motherboard when you want to upgrade your CPU; maybe that isn’t an issue though.
2019-02-15 09:17
