Is it a good place for tourism? How much money(tenge) is enough for an average travel(5 to 7 days)? Most of the people can speak english? Care to name some places to visit(monuments, mosque etc)? Explain about the food. Thanks
2019-02-11 14:05
not really i guess but maybe around 500$ no idk food is good
2019-02-11 14:09
About 500 dollars right?
2019-02-11 14:10
yeah its enough but 700-800 would be fine to live like a very rich dood
2019-02-11 14:13
thx for the info! edit: btw, just checked that 700 dollar is 262647 tenge. WTF

lol with 500 u could live like 2 weeks there as backpacker with tent/cheap hostel. Is a nice place, good nature, but if I were you i'd also go to Central Asia. Kyrgizia etc are really nice
2019-02-11 14:46
i never heard of ethiopia lol tell me my ehtiopian child
2019-02-11 16:42
around 500$ is enough to visit almost every EU and Asia country
2019-02-11 20:23
yeah but i wasnt talking about budget tourism
2019-02-11 20:47
To be honest, it is not interesting. Nature-steppe. Valuable architecture is very small. If you want to visit Central Asia, Uzbekistan is better. Delicious food. It has its own architecture.

if you like nature, etc., then this place is suitable for you. $ 700-1000 will be enough for a week. In major cities like Almaty and Astana there are people who speak English, but there are not many of them. There are canyons in monuments in Almaty and mountains
2019-02-11 14:19

He's right th, and has Kazachstan really become that expensive? Then I would personally skip it and go to Central Asia or Iran (its cheapter, you literally can perfectly live for 4 weeks with 800 euro there).

You mean it as a positive thing, or a negative thing? As I've been twice in Iran for almost 3 months in total, and its the best place I've ever been too. The people are so amazing friendly, great food/culture, beautiful nature; from jungle to desert and mountains. Its similar in other places in the region, but Iran stands out.

yeah, we're in hltv, it happens sometimes. BTW, can you tell more about tourism in Turkey? Cities, places, food?
2019-02-11 16:41
turkey is pretty touristic, was once one of the most visited touristic countries in the world but because of recent political climate it has declined a bit (yeah politics here is kinda shitty, but for a tourist it's completely safe) there are a lot of different places to visit, istanbul (if you're into history, was capital ottoman empire for hundreds of years and byzantine empire's for even longer so it has lots of historical places, museums etc) and antalya/muğla (if you're into nice beaches) and cappadocia (hot air balloon rides with amazing scenery) are the most famous, but there's also places like eastern black sea region in general for nice forests, valleys and some old monasteries etc sadly those places i mentioned are very touristic, and in general have taxi drivers and shopkeepers that try to scam you. using public transport and bargaining with shopkeepers might help but the problem is still there as for food, in my opinion it's one of the best around the world and i'm not just saying this because i'm a turk myself. it's pretty diverse, kinda like a combination of mediterranean, middle eastern, and balkan cuisines. most people think of kebabs as a type of fast food but it's not just one dish, there's many different types of kebabs (almost all cities have their own variants actually, adana kebab is most famous one, i'd also recommend iskender). there's also mantı and sarma that are famous, you should try these too if you come here. we also have lots of desserts (baklava is the most famous, though it's common all throughout balkans and middle east as well as it was an ottoman food) but most turkish desserts are pretty sugary so beware. best non-sugary example is sütlaç imo
2019-02-11 17:12
My fellow turkish friend, that was a amazing read. If i went to Turkey, i'll hug you myself. You just made i will to vist Turkey even higher. Thanks for that. Can you tell me about the Salt bae restaurant? Is it really expensive?
2019-02-11 17:42
you're welcome :) i haven't been there myself but googled for its menu, it's actually a chain so i found different results but i guess it's about 30$ for one person in the original one. there are cheaper menus i found but i suppose the original saltbae would be in the most expensive one nusr-et.com.tr/en/home.aspx here's the website if you're interested, it doesn't have a menu though so i can't confirm the prices i gave are legit or not sadly

I've been to Turkey twice, and agreed with all you said. It is indeed an amazing country, great peoples as well, just sad that 50% votes for a crazy maniac and that almost 100% are more nationalist then ppl's on the Balkan (which is not really bad when visiting). Would love to go there again, but my feelings towards Turkey are now somewhat similar to Israel; I love the history/place but due to political reasons; them occupying and suppressing another people; Palestinians or Kurds/secular Turks/Alavi's I'd not visit them now.

Idk who eats more salt or sugar but Americans do eat a lot more fast food. I’m talking about the cost of living. He said compared to burgers all Slav countries are cheap. Trying to say that it’s expensive to live in America. That’s why I told him that compared to a lot of other countries America isn’t that expensive to live.

If you wanted to visit some Central-Asian Turkic Steppe country. You must visit Uzbekistan. Samarkand can beat whole Kazakhstan in everything with its own. But this is not the end for Uzbekistan there are more beauties in Uzbekistan called Bukhara and Tashkent. You should visit them too.
2019-02-11 14:23
i started looking for Turkey, which is the country that i want to visit, but i think its kinda overrated.
2019-02-11 14:28
Turkey is way better than steppes. Istanbul was amazing and the country is cheap af. I suggested you Uzbekistan because I thought you wanted to visit a Central-Asian Country. But I still think Uzbekistan is best in competition between Central-Asian Turkic countries. But trust me if you have a chance to visit Turkey. You should do it. Do not hesitate about it.
2019-02-11 14:44
Exactly. There is something about turkey that i want to go there. I've heard that going to salt bae restaurant is too expensive. So sad.
2019-02-11 16:02
You don't have to go to bae's place. Istanbul is great enough without it too.
2019-02-11 20:20
you're indeed correct. It's just that i saw so many videos about salt bae and i really like meat that i just want to make sure i could afford to visit it.
2019-02-12 11:30
what was good about istanbul?
2019-02-11 16:30
I'm not sure. I saw more than 3 palaces in Istanbul, every one of them included very expensive parts. I still couldn't understand how can Ottomans collapsed. Also, your long road bus companies are very comfy. I did not expect that.
2019-02-11 20:33
haha yeah we are the king of bus travelling. germany even sent some experts to turkey to study and understand how we do it so well. there were many reasons for the collapse of the empire but most important one was corruption.

2019-02-11 16:30
I was in Marmaris - the most beautifulest city in Turkey(I've visited a lot of cities in there). Big advanatge for me was that there are no russians(there are no many of them there) there and it's pretty quiet place to rest and chill. It's not expensive to live there as well you can effort everything you want to eat etc. for low price.

It is very beautiful city. Places like Medeo, Chymbulak, Kok-tobe, Charyn Canyon(Better to visit at summer time) you should go first. Chymbulak (ski resort) is located by Medeo. Medeo used to be the highest located ice rink in the USSR. So mountains our everything. Google some of these places p.s sry for my english

Dont care for bad english, thx for sharing. I'am more into historical places and museums, but visiting different things is also good. Exchanging culture is awesome. Hey! I see not many people actually helping you to answer all of your questions :D So let me try at least give you some basic info. 1. Tourism is not quite developed in Kazakhstan (compared to say Turkey or what not), but you will be fine in major cities. Transort-wise: Uber works in Astana and Almaty afaik, but don't expect all of taxi drivers to speak English, although they will try their best :D For shelter: Booking com/airbnb have relatively good prices for Hotels/apartments. 2. You might spend $200-300/week on a hotel or a $150-200/week on an apartment rent. For food you might spend another 100 . It depends where you dine in I guess. Ask people in hotel, people you meet about places to eat. 3. Young people have ok english. Probably will be able to answer most of your questions. 4. Places to visit in Astana: tripasvisor (type in "places to go in Astana") - covers most of the sightseeing places. (or you can check out this guy's video on Astana youtube.com/playlist?list=PLN0FlxE6vY5CA..) Almaty: Surronded by mountains and you need to go hiking :D or at least try cable cars at "Koktobe" or "Shymbulak". About the city itself: lots of parks, monuments, churches, mosques etc. Just googling will help you to find most of them. 5. Food. Kazakhs were nomad people. so Kazakh cuisine is not known for its wide range of dishes, but it is very filling and comforting. We absolutely love meat. Besbarmak is the main traditional dish that you must try. Try ordering any of these :Besbarmak (cooked meat with large square pasta and potatoes, usually served with soup in a separate bowl), manty (steamed dumplings), plov (traditional rice dish),kazy (basically sliced sausage), Baursak (fried doughballs). Hope it did help a little :D

1. I know more about countries like Uzbekistan as a tourism place, but I suppose Kazakhstan is fine too. 2. I don't know 3. A lot of more isolated, landlocked countries don't have the best English. Also, it is a place where most people would take Russian as a 2nd language, since English might not have the most use. 4. Astana, Almaty are famous cities. It is in the general Silk Road region so there will probably be a mix of many different cultures there. 5. Again, I know that Central Asia has some good food (due to its location), but I don't know anything about Kazakhstan in particular.
