RESULTS HLTV education level
Germany fl_santy
Update of : hltv.org/forums/threads/1979232/hltv-edu.. Results: imgur.com/a/5rp5RmM (fixed results for 274 votes) strawpoll.com/x2bz1gk8 (updated strawpoll) After 274 unique votes: - 57,3% have a college degree of some sort, including PhD - Highschool graduates are most common at 32,48% - staggering 17,52% (48 votes) apparently own a PhD -> this answer might be the the option most prone to trolling because of its meme character, so I take it with a grain of salt - shares of answers developed consistently / the voting-proportions between the answers remained similar at the stages of a total 50, 110 and 270 votes implying that results might reliably reflect education levels. Questions: Why didn't I add "dropout" as an option? - This poll was created to only display achieved education levels. Dropouts do not contain information about an achieved level of education while in fact, they most likely at least graduated junior high due to obligations to visit school until the age of 16. Why did I only conclude completed programs? - Similar answer to the question above. I wanted to gather information on achieved graduation levels. Adding options like "studying bachelor atm" or "studying master atm" would've made evaluation of the results more complicated even though it might add more information on current education efforts of users.

Problem with your poll is you don't even have a sized exemple of proven diploma to ponderate voters allegation. Said otherwise, you have no way to correct diploma enhancement. Neither you can mesure how many people saw the poll but didn't voted, I believe high education would be more inclined to vote than others. Your results indicate an average age of 21 yo, more if you include year wasted (I took 15 for JS, 18 for HS, 21 for Bachelor, 23 for Master, 26 for PhD, which is low already). I believe average age of HLTV is less than that.

Good points. However, getting a large enough sample of data on proven graduate levels might not be possible due to the trolley/chill nature of the forum. I feel like relying on some low-effort information is the only way to get an idea of the education level if you yourself don't want to spend a high amount of effort. "I believe high education would be more inclined to vote than others." Sure but then I would have expected a higher share of master graduates. As I mentioned. the PhD-share does seem way too high, though.
