in cs:go the spot where you spawn is random which causes rng on timings in certain maps, hence csgo also rng game
2019-02-13 20:59
much less rng than any BR game

Are you trying to tell me that if on dust 2 a terrorist gets a close long spawn and the ct long holder gets the worst spawn towards long this doesn't affect the round? When literally the terrorist will have control of their end of long before the CT can ever get there? Or in Mirage getting a pit spawn to peek with awp from pit doesnt affect rounds?

Getting close to a 3 IQ argument... The players in CS all have equal standing with economy etc... You ALREADY know about the spawn placements, so you change your strat if you're not 2 IQ. In BR you land and pick up a bucket and a grenade before you get shot from behind by a lucky asshole with a shotgun. RNG

TBH, i've REALLY thought about it. Your point is completely invalid. The ONLY thing random in csgo is the spawn placement, so then you simply send the person who has the "advantage"and even then it's never guaranteed they'll get there first, simply because you NEVER know where the opposing team spawned. It's an absolute level playing field in CS with zero rng. So now that you can shut up, i'd like to end with: JW is a sleazy scumbag asshole

It's not even the only random thing in the game, there's jump/running first bullet accuracies, moving awpshot rng such as on the Greyhound game today etc. Sure all these things are avoidable by not shooting while moving, but still especially running shot accuracy does play a part in some pro games, sometimes you hit a lucky running shot, sometimes you don't.

no if you have great cohesion and teamplay everything is covered but like everything in life sometimes you have luck and sometimes you don't but in french we have the word " réussite " which is different from being lucky, when you have " réussite " is that you did good decision + frags when you do not have " réussite " you did made great decision but you didn't get the frags. But sometimes you do make bad choices and still get kills but that's why cs is beautiful you can always reinvent the game

Any game whose mechanics are based on rng in a big way are not esports. eg: >CSGO: minimal rng(basically spawns and some lucky bullets from time to time). >Lol: As far as i know, dragon spawning I dont count card games cuz they are competitive games(not videogames) on their own, they can be played irl.
2019-02-13 20:59
that's why chess is the best game ever made
2019-02-13 21:25
probably, i like it tbh, but its the same as card games, if it can be played irl, its not an esports at all
2019-02-13 21:26
yeah, you are right.
2019-02-13 21:27
you can make that case with pubg, but not fortnite, fortnite isnt to reliant on loot as pubg, and you can easily win with worse tier of gear as long as you have materials (not a rng factor) and are better than you opponent
2019-02-13 22:34

2019-02-13 20:59
world of tanks is a esport?
2019-02-13 22:35

it actually WAS a parody on esport but wargaming decided to stop trying to make it a normal esport the game is not really casual though
2019-02-13 23:02
Would CS be competitive esport if you spawn with random equipment in a different map every round and teams switched randomly too? You can put a $10 000 000 prize on throwing dice. Doesnt make it skillbased or exciting to watch.
2019-02-13 21:03
fortnite is skillbased, and more people watch fortnite than csgo so its obviously more exciting to watch
2019-02-13 22:35
Kids like fortnite more than Cs. Amount of people watching isn't an argument
2019-02-14 00:01
so a esport with 1 viewer can be better than a esport with 40 million people watching it

2019-02-13 22:36
we already saw PUBG Esports thing and it has died like shit. BRs are Esports but worst one, cuz you have 100players, its hard to watch it You saw PUBG back than it was shit cuz you cant watch players that you want Even casters are shit they dont know how to cast fights between multy teams rng thing is kinda shit but yea so after all it is a Esports but not good one (people dont like that kind of staff) dont get me wrong, im not telling that fun Streams like Ninja or any other are shit, its fun to watch streamer playing casualy but competition streams are shit. And big thing about it, if we ever get big fortnite tournaments like CSGO Major, DOTA International, LOL worlds or Starcraft2 WCS, comentators will be shit like in OW and HoTS, PUBG becuse their main stream game are some of those (CSGO, DOTA, SC2, LoL). They wont get hyped on a big plays, they can only act. We already saw semmler in OW(Acting hype was shit), ReDeYe in PUBG (He was acting hype). Becuse their main game are CS). Fortnite doesnt have some comentators that are in love with game. Maybe some streamers but half of Streamers are acting all the time. Best Esports game are old ones(CS, DoTA, LoL, Starcraft) becuse they have people willing to give time in talent table. CSGO have people that want stick with the game( SPUNJ, pimp, ynk, zews, zonic) They all were pros in their time.

pubg and fornite have the same concept 100 players and the circle closes in. any game with those features will never produce a watchable esport. sure there can be good players and such but no one refers to ninja as an esport player, they refer to him as a streamer.
2019-02-13 22:48
yes they have the same concept, but different mechanics. Thats like saying CSGO and r6 are the same. also ninja isnt a esports player thats why people call him a streamer

ya thats what i meant he isnt an esport player. but csgo and r6 do have similar concepts which can be used in a competitive esport scene
2019-02-13 23:51
ninja isnt the only fortnite player also destiny crucible is a similar concept and its not a esport, so idk what ur getting at here, it doesn't matter the concept it matters how its executed

every successful esport is a team vs team basis. having 50 teams of 2 isnt succesfull there is multiple occurances of this like ark sotf or pubg for example. It doesnt matter how popular fornite it is will not work as an esport.

1 too much RNG 2 too much players so it's chaotic to watch 3 the pace is too slow especialy on competition wich makes it really boring to watch 4 High level comp game ends up in camping in your wood castle untill the circle shrinks, wich makes it boring to watch In conclusion yeah you can make competitions and have esport around it but it won't be followed by many cause watching a good player having fun in casual games is funnier to watch.
2019-02-13 21:25
1. pubg yes, fortnite no 2. just watch one player? 3. once again pubg i can see this being a issue, but fortnite games are usually 20 mins (non competitive lobby) for a competitive lobby yes the early to mid game would be sorta boring but end game is extremely crazy and entertaining) 4. same response as 3 basically

If people want to watch a single person throughout the whole game they mostly just go to streamers, not watch tournaments.

For everyone who doesn't actually know much about Fortnite or barely played it, remember your opinion is pretty irrelevant which is all of you in this thread. I've clocked over 1500 hours on Fortnite and played top level qualifiers and scrims and yes in theory Fortnite is RNG but it is honestly quite minimal with pop up cup rules and changes that have been made to the game. The only thing that can really fuck with you is the late game zones and even then changes to this should be occuring soon, due to all the good changes that have already been made due to competition from Apex Legends. I do believe it can become a good game in the future and I'm sure almost everyone who is here won't believe me since you guys lack understanding and knowledge of the game. Remember this in around a year and if Epic Games is cooperative which is looking likely with Apex's competition, then we can see a great game you guys wish you played earlier.
