It's a bad style. Pushed up to the limits. Get back on the ground. There's a normal* metal there and rock and roll. Just an energizing but much more beautiful and influential.

Not as depressing and much more appealing to the masses.

Death is just a style of metal. What songs are about depends only on songwriters.
2019-02-15 18:52
It's really pulled up and all over. Distortion and screams is what it's all about. It never will be as popular, therefore its appreciators should consider going for it or they might not leave their McDonald's job yet.

always loved this band youtube.com/watch?v=1gpfzCxiQ-A
2019-02-15 16:05
Hatebreeder and something wild were sick. follow the reaper was very good. everything after was just meh imo :/
2019-02-15 17:44
They peaked at Follow The Reaper in my opinion. I feel like some of the later records, like HC:D and AYDY? were good too, but their music was generally never as good again. Nowadays I'm not even following their new releases, Alexi's years of drinking have pretty much ruined his ability to play guitar coherently like he used to. :(
2019-02-15 17:49
Yeah, i saw them live and it was sad to see that Alexi couldnt even play his own solos anymore :( And im not harsh about small mistakes, those happen live, but he butchered whole solos so you wouldnt even recognize them. The later records have a few songs i can listen to, but they lack the structure, the melody and ideas. Some of them sound as if theyre just a collection of riffs slapped together without the structure the older songs had. imo
2019-02-15 17:53
HCD was great - my favourite album by them and one of my favourite albums of all time. None of the songs really stand out to me so much, but I just love it how they are all consistently good. Very few albums out there on which I like every single song. Other notable mention in that category is Trash by Alice Cooper.

HCD was alright, even tho it wasnt nearly as good as follow the reaper, hatebreeder and something wild. Hcd and blooddrunk werent bad, cause both had some good songs on it, but they didnt reach up to the Cob potential
2019-02-15 18:08
tbh, HCD was decent. the biggest drop off came after.

I agree, loved all of these 3 albums youtube.com/watch?v=WJeBiNd9Cjk this was the song that got me into the band, after this i was addicted to melodic death metal. blooddrunk was very average even tho it had like 3-4 good songs on it
2019-02-15 18:07
one of my favourites. great buildup, great solo and a few classical elements.

1st: they are more metalcore than death (even in their first albums mathcore). 2nd: they are more "core" than metal. So at least for me they are not death metal.

i cosign this guys post all of these bands are sick also add in Fallujah, Obscura, First Fragment, Archspire, Aborted, Cytotoxin, Benighted, Virvum, Bloodshot Dawn, Inferi, tbh i could add so many bands that the op could be set for metal for the next decade

I see we have a similar taste of music :) May i suggest a few? not all are the same genres, some are kinda experimental but worth trying. hltv.org/forums/threads/1756508/do-you-l..
