Pick'em

Hello lovely HLTVers So you helped me a big deal with first pick'em, I got 7/8 right but this stage is much harder, since there not so many "trash" teams. Can you share your pick'ems with me and your reasoning behind picking them? Thank you -Your favorite grill

Did already, but he is just 1 opinion out of many. Would like to see more votes from many people so I can sort of "average" what people are picking. I didn't watch csgo for about 1.5 year before this major, so I didn't really see all the teams play yet (legends haven't played yet), but I watched all the matches now so I have sort of idea of how renegades, NRG etc play.
2019-02-19 16:37
puu.sh/COBjE/0855745f9f.png` I put NRG 3-0, because out of all lower teams, I think they have the most chance to. A team lower on the ranking would probably always face the number one team, so that wouldn't work. If I put Astralis here (who have a huge chance of going through) and they go 3-1, I get 0 points. So I've decided to put a team there that has a smaller chance to go through, but not too small. It might even help to put a bad team in 3-0, so you get points for all good teams going through. I'm thinking of doing that. *Edit: Decided not to. I placed astralis, liquid, mibr, navi below, because they have the most chances of going through. Rest im not so sure of.

Is complexity really so bad that everyone is putting them 0-3? What if NIP choke or idk avangar for example, or are they really so much worse?

I have c9 as the 0-3 but seeing the seedings I am likely going to change it to col too :D first match against astralis and second is going to be against the best seed of the losers so only one upset and they are royally fucked again in that match...
2019-02-19 17:03
Thank you Winlando! Do you mind sharing seeding link with me, I can't seem to be able to find it here @hltv :(

they added the seeding in the guide for the next stage
2019-02-19 17:09
I think they have the biggest chance of all teams to go 0-3. After last major they havent done anything. Also removed 2 players I think. Its the safest bet.

That NRG 3-0 aged well lol. I got them to advance tho which seems kinda RiP but not that unlikely
2019-02-21 14:34
idd. But it did put a team in 3-0 of which I wasnt sure theyd advance.

i thought Astralis are safe 1-0 cuz Col and as they had to get the easiest teams as #1 seed also most likely 2-0. And i thought they have a massive advantage in BO3. But RNG is turning some heads. I expected them to win every match they played so far but not against Astralis and not a 5-14 deficit in an eco
2019-02-21 18:07
ye, can understand that. I wanted all teams that I knew went through "advance" part of the pick em. Otherwise I wouldve gone for Astralis 3-0 too. Still think they will 3-0

Astralis, Liquid, Navi, and NRG will all make it MIBR and Faze will probably make it but definitely can be upset by a lot of teams BIG, NIP, and Ence are pretty stable and might make it Renegades, G2, and C9 probably won't make it HR, Col, Vitality, Avangar = no chance town I think the 7 teams to advance will be Astralis, Liquid, Navi, NRG, MIBR, Faze, and NIP. If you want to gamble on max points, I'd put NRG or Liquid to go 3-0, but if you want to play it safe I'd put a worse team in and get the guaranteed points from the good teams. I think Renegades and Ence played really well in the major qualifier so you can use them to fill in your pickem if there are any open spaces. I put cloud9 in mine for shits and giggles but I think they'll end up 2-3 so I wouldn't pick them. I am not very confident in BIG. Xantares has had some very good performances, but I am still not convinced that he can fit. I didn't pick BIG because I just don't know what they will do. G2 is not quite dead yet but they aren't making playoffs. For 0-3 I'd pick CoL or maybe avangar

i dunno man.... NaVi is one of those hit or miss teams. they can come out blazing or just fall flat. we've seen it plenty of times before regardless, i still picked them to go through

big 0-3 --> nex is bot xantares still not good in team legija and tizian bots tabzen fuhrer of german cs cant carry so many noobs nrg 3-0 --> they are solid consistent team, been together a long time, contenders to win the whole major

I don't know what should I do with NaVi, BIG, Renegades and ENCE. I dont know which of them put in to my 3-0 pick (in "advance" i have astra, mibr, liquid, faze, nrg for sure, col for 0-3) and which of them to put in 2 free "advance" gaps. Ideas?
2019-02-19 17:15
0-3 col 3-0 either Liquid or Astralis other 7 MiBR NaVi NRG ENCE RNG HR NiP
2019-02-19 17:22
5/8
2019-02-19 17:46
tbh NiP or HR are easily changeable I can see G2, C9, FaZe, and AVANGAR making it out. These 6 are all 3-2 potential teams. Pickems are gonna be dead this year

col 0-3 they are the worst team by a mile and they dont have the firepower to upset anyone (check their recent results. unless they were saving strats and aim they go out). usually you dont want to risk the point putting a really good team 3-0 but with the way seeding works and how astralis playstyle counters upset possibilities its not too risky selecting them. liquid - no doubts. mibr+faze - should do it although you cant really tell (seeding tells they looked good in scrims) navi - i hope for the best. seeding should help them. nrg - should make it if brehze/ethan keep it up against better opponents big - xantares added firepower and usually they are well prepared for the major. i think they will make it. ence/rng/nip/vitality - all of them had some problems in the challenger stage. likelihood in that order. hellraisers - i cant tell. there is potential but the seeding will give them a hard time. c9, g2, avangar - i dont think so.
2019-02-19 17:37
3-0 Ence 0-3 Complexity ADVANCE: Astralis Liquid FaZe Mibr Navi Vitality NRG idk but im preety confident that this picks could get 5 points
2019-02-19 17:39
everyone remember that ViCi was the lowest ranked team and most people put them 0-3 complexity is in the same situation, but also might surprise us just like ViCi

imgur.com/KQDriUu I put NaVi at 3-0 because they have insane potential but have been very shaky lately. They might bust out too. Col is just a shit team, no chance. Astralis and Liquid are very balanced and good teams. They should be 100% going through. NRG and FaZe should be through. FaZe even with Adren. Mibr is a complete question mark. Last time they were good with these players. Maybe I should be switching them with NaVi at 3-0 because I don't know what to except. Renegades was very convincing especially with their team play and synergy. I have to pick my brothers of ence although they were kind of shaky in the challenger stage.
