According to researchers at the Institute for Applied Physics at the University of Bonn in Germany, plants release gases that are the equivalent of crying out in pain. Using a laser-powered microphone, researchers have picked up sound waves produced by plants releasing gases when cut or injured.

actually not true...Production of tears depletes water in body, so you'll have to drink water and tap water costs money. So cry isn't free.
2019-02-19 21:42
plants have no central nervous system and therefore have no concept of suffering or injustice. animals, on the other hand, do. if you're so concerned about causing living beings suffering, why do you eat meat? meat from animals that you KNOW can feel pain?
2019-02-19 21:44
Just eat people

1. Not having central nervous system doesn't necessarily mean not feeling pain. Plants can still react to the outside world, just look at insect eating plants. That means that if they can react to such things as fly sitting on them, they can aswell react to someone cutting them in half. 2. Who says I have problem with it? I'm a predator, an animal in my deepest mind, and I like the taste of meat. I'm just saying that it's stupid to be a vegan to "not hurt the animals" when you're hurting the plants in the same way. However you do you, I don't care. Eat what you eat, don't eat what you don't want to eat. Just don't defend it with stupid claims. Have a nice day.
2019-02-19 21:48
assuming this bogus study is actually valid, why would you elect to harm BOTH animals and plants? the goal of veganism is to reduce the suffering done to living beings, not eradicate it entirely.

Why would I want to reduce it? I'm pretty comfortable as the top of the food chain, I don't care about the suffering involved. Their problem anyways, life is tough if you're not a human so just give up and give me your meat.
2019-02-19 22:09
sure, fine, then our differences are on a purely philosophical level. i find it to be a moral obligation to use my position at the top of the food chain to let animals live out their natural lives, even if it included them being killed by another animal. as long as it's not ME impeding their desire to live. i should also mention that i don't have much of a problem with eating meat in general, it's more with factory farming. there is no valid philosophy or outlook that can justify factory farming - just rotten morals. our differences are also definitely informed by culture; factory farming is much more prevalent in the US, and pretty much all of the meat and dairy americans consume comes from these shit holes. i'm sure in europe this is much less common.

These differences must be in morals, there is no way they are there from some biological bass basically. To be honest, I couldn't care less about animals that aren't endangered, we're on the top so it's for us to decide. I would never consume meat from endangered animal tho. Most of the meat in Czech republic comes from Poland, so I don't know what to expect lol.

It was, saw lots of wildlife, trekking for two weeks and culture is very diff from Britain of course, so quite interesting. Very poor country though and extremely unhygenic, cockroaches and rats everywhere if we didn't camp, and most of the food "on sale" was in open air, infested with maggots etc I did enjoy it, but wouldn't go again. Just for the experience my friend :D

2-3 times a week. I earn good money but the only meat I want to eat is too expensive for every day. I dont understand ppl who eat this trash from discounter, supermarkets or included butcheries. you really have to hate yourself if you eat this!

15 cows daily
2019-02-20 09:31
Almost everyday. Very close to it. Most of my dinners have some form of meat, and I often have turkey sandwiches for lunch
2019-02-20 09:31
Admittedly, it’s all a part of nature. I try to make conscious decisions while shopping, so I try my best to avoid meat, as intensive livestock farming seems shitty in most regards. Animals also do die anyway, so it’s not so bad to make use of the meat while it is still usable. Mostly eat vegetables, fish and chicken. Also, harmonic structures all have parts of them with nothing but darkness/emptiness in them. This means that harmony REQUIRES suffering to exist. Beauty and greatness can only exist if the opposites also exist. So I try not to take it too much to heart.
2019-02-20 10:50
Yes about 400g on weekdays, more on weekends.
2019-02-20 10:52
No, about 3-4 times a week :P I used to more when I lived back at home, but now that I cook (or don't cook:D) on my own, I just can't be bothered, nor it financially makes sense.
2019-02-20 10:53

2019-02-20 11:05
I don't even eat everyday
2019-02-20 11:06
ye, eating should be done when hungry like serioulsy if ppl only ate when hungry and no other reasons, we could probably reduce inflation of money by 40% in the whole world.

Yeah that'i Christian tradition, I agree but I heard, for example in some Christian countries they easily eat meat on Fridays, so I think it is some kind of Polish tradition

I try to eat vegetarian at least 4 meals a week (as in lunch/dinner). I mostly try to stay away from red meat as well which I don't find particularly difficult since I like fish and chicken so much.
