i mean schalke are fucking trash but so was city tonight
2019-02-20 22:58
Schalke is bad, but they are not even close to the spending power of the English teams. I find it rather impressive that they can push Man city to their limits like that.

yeah but that was more about city being trash today
2019-02-20 23:02
lower than $300 mil
2019-02-21 08:52
+ 2 bullshit pens is the only reason they even got close to winning or getting a tie.
2019-02-20 22:57
What do you expect against a team with pretty much infinite money to buy players from? It's actually pretty good that they are pushing Man city to the limit with that lineup
2019-02-20 22:58
Without the two bullshit penalties they wouldn't even come close to pushing Man City to any limit, it would have probably been 3-0 or 4-1 at best.
2019-02-20 22:59
Sure, but still, they just don't have the money to put up a real fight,so no shame for Schalke to lose imo.Btw, I can't watch the match because it ain't in free tv in Germany, so I can't tell if it was actually close or one sided.
2019-02-20 23:02
schalke spend 66 mio this year, man city 77 mio dont spread this "poor-german-football" fake news shit
2019-02-20 23:01
Man City's team is worth nearly five times as much as Schalke's. Don't confuse their worth with what they spent this year. And it is true that there is way more money in England than in Germany, it's just a fact. Especially Man City who have an oil sheikh behind them
2019-02-20 23:07
i know but you mean but this is hyped. dont confuse their "worth" with athletic aspects. this discussion in germany is poisoned by multipliers who would benefit from investments like managers, consultants/agencies and players who want to earn money. german football is just fine - economical efficent, nice youth income, sold out arenas. just stop arguing for the exploiters.
2019-02-21 08:47
The point is that German teams don't have the spending power to compete internationally. They can't pay those huge transfer sums, they can't pay the players a salary as high as the other international teams and therefore they usually get banged out by some 1 Billion English team
2019-02-21 13:46
yes this "argument" is what i've meant with poison since the actual progress doesnt give evidence for that. you had one weaker year for german clubs last season but in overall premier league and buli are going head to head in results even with that big differences in fees and salarys.
2019-02-21 14:21
Fantastic cherrypicking right there my friend. "Money spent this year" like their teams consists of only 1st year players xD
2019-02-21 09:13
so u sum up all transfer fees for existing squad and say ok like 1 billion, way better team? sorry but bullshit. its too infected by the business around. tell me how bayern can go 0-0 in anfield then, they've spend nearly nothing for their current team. sure mancity have their arabs and loads of money, i dont doubt that. but germans always feel like super discriminated and in fear of losing everything because of uk-football with shitty attitude, see #29. infact they are 3 german teams in current cl- round - same as uk. and there is no sign that it would become worse. even without brexit, and you shouldnt forget that thing long term. arabs can pump money in as they want, they still cant justbuy out anyone.

its a shame that english teams are not able to dominate the cl with all the money involved. Hard to believe that they only won it once over the last 10 years and chelsea managed to do it by just parking the bus and hope for one lucky strike the entire playoffs i really hope germans will allows investors one day but i still hope they wont sell their souls like the english teams did... I mean some teams even changed their badge color just because the boss wants it. imagine what bayern and especially dortmund with their top scouting system could do if they would have more money
2019-02-20 23:02
yes i feel sad for bayern munich. you know they always paid attention on having solid finances and no debts. over many years, they build up the famous "festgeldkonto" (special bank account) which made them to the most powerful club (there was always this "bayern can buy the 3 most expensive players, paying in cash" comfort). when the sheiks entered, the prices exploded and the "festgeldkonto" looks like a joke now because every mid tier player costs as much as high end transfers a few years ago.
2019-02-20 23:14
yeah the saved money wont help you anymore since you basically need to pay minimum 60-70 million for a world class players nowadays... i hope the bundesliga will change their mind one day. But i think they are too scared that they will end up like the premier league. A dying football culture, expensive tickets, plastic fans and just being the bosses toy. Or even completely fail like Malaga,1860 munich etc. But who knows maybe they will realize that there are also positive examples like Hoffenheim.
2019-02-20 23:19
no they shouldnt change. football has to change. kick sheiks and ruskis, take financial fair play serious and we as fans should not support pay tv etc.
2019-02-20 23:42
Who cares about Schalke - City game (btw - expected) Atletico - Juventus - that game was amazing, this crowd on Wanda Metrapolitano 10/10
