I'm not from Venezia but I only went once and I think he is exaggerating a little bit. Transport is not that bad and from what I heard there are plenty of job opportunities which pay well. If he hates walking a lot I would get his point though
he works for a semi luxurious hotel. said the pay was really good but there wasnt anything to do there. and there wasnt any local population etc.

Yeah working on hotels is like the main thing there because of the high rate of tourists per year. It's a place that I would only go once because there is not a lot explore, but living there I would say it's kind of meh
