Major Prize Pool
 |
United States n0rdie
Only $1,000,000 prize pool is gay tbh. In 2018 valve gave the Dota International $1.6 mil and the community donated a bit under $24 mil. Why tf doesnt valve let us do stuff for the prizepool? I would say that csgo is more popular than CSGO. i live in the US, and i have never seen anything related to mobas outside of LoL ads. However, I do see CSGO in public, and a lot of OW accually. I know that China is really big into dota, but i dont think any other countries are. Things to boost prize pool: - you know how half of sticker sales and stuff go to players? Just put it in the prize pool instead - crowd funding - take $1-2 from each viewer pass sale and put it kn the prize pool More prize money would also raise intrest in the game, which would make the money lost back. This could help break csgo into the western audience. Where I live, the most popular things for teenage males (fuck i sound old) are 1. Sports and 2. Shooter games (cod and what ever the fuck br is popular now). Csgo combines these. Big potential Top viewership counts 2018 (peak): 1. LoL worlds - 1.9 mil (wtf LoL is litterally gayer than cod) 2. Eleague Major 2018 - 1.35 mil 3. Dota International - 1.2 mil 4. Faceit Major 2018 - 1.1 mil The Super Bowl average viewership was 98 mil.

Those numbers are wrong btw, dota and lol have way more viewers than that. Also the OWL final had 11M viewers
2019-02-22 05:58
Its the peak viewer count at 1 time not a cumaltive frequency
2019-02-22 06:01
Worlds 2018 peaked at 200 million viewers...
2019-02-22 06:03
are you rarted. There is no way that 200 million people were watching a fucking Dota event at the same time.
2019-02-22 06:06
Calling me the retard when Worlds is league not dota LMFAO

Who cares LoL gay af and this is a csgo site. Plus 98% of those views are prob bots tbh. No way 200 mil watching from chona ALONE
2019-02-22 06:12
esc.watch/blog/worlds-2018-final you’re just really ignorant. League has become part of the culture in china; regular people watch it, it’s like watching the super bowl.

lul champions cost literally more than $5 each.
2019-02-22 15:32
You dont have to spend money on the game to gain any character, you can get every single one by playing. So no, it fails in the category to be put in p2w. please..

So they give u a choice to spend $400 or grind 3000 hours
2019-02-22 16:39
3000 hours? You've CLEARLY not played league. And even if you would need to ''grind 3k hours'', it still isnt a p2w game, since u get it without paying, do u know the definition of p2w?
2019-02-22 16:43
Are you high? A. League of Legend's not pay to win and B. It is well known that worlds got that many viewers, I hardly play the game but I am confident that the 200 million stat is accurate. I'm by no means an expert but if you have literally have no idea about a game or its viewership don't comment on it. Edit: The average viewers were ~50 million but I assume you're just going to say there's no way that's true either.

You have to look into the numbers. On the surface dota had 200 million viewers at one, only like 1.5 of them wernt from china, and i doubt that tbh

Dont know where the fuck ur seeing people doing this. Ive never seen it. I would personally donate and i bet most people would 2. Dota has wayyyyyyy bigger problems than csgo. The radiant side had litterally a 70% win ratio in ranked last time i checked, yet 23 mil donated

"you know how half of sticker sales and stuff go to players? Just put it in the prize pool instead" Sorry men but this would fuck the teams that get eliminated on the New Challengers stage because they don't recieve any prize money at all

Tbh, it's not really about the prize pool just yet, it was always the seeding, production matchups and that kind of stuff. They needed to fix all that first and they did with this Katowice Major. It's shaping up to be a very successful majors, if not the most successful. I'd worry about prize pool later if they can pull this one off really well.

i mean yeah but let this major play out, im sure the pros wanted this much much more than the prize pool. most of the top pros make really good salaries compared to the average person anyways so they dont really care about the money as long as they are financially secure. they want the absolute best counter strike and want to be proven champions without any asterisks.

Again. This could possibly kill the other tournaments that are played, because viewers don't want to watch a 300k tournament, when they can watch one with 1mil.

The eleague major has the record for the highest viewership on the English stream and a total of 63 mil unique total viewers. Lol worlds 2018 had 1mil English viewers and 200mill unique Chinese viewers I think they should increase the prize pool to 2mil atleast. Even r6s which is a good game but way too hard to keep track of as an esports (my eyes hurt XD) Had 2mil for this years invitational. 2millll for a game that gets 120k views on the English stream ??

I agree with you. They should do more operations and for example 25% / 50% goes to the tournament prize pool. On the other hand, they give 50% from all major-themed stuff (stickers, viewer pass,...) directly to the team, so it kinda compensates. But I want to see like 2 mil.+ majors.
