Terrorist attacks

There were a lot of terrorist attacks in 2015/2016/2017. No terrorist attacks for a really long time now. What do you think is the reason for this? Good work by the authorities?

How does the rise of far-right prevent terrorist attacks? There were a lot of crackdowns in the past few years

Because far-right activists would support less immigration, meaning less terrorists can infiltrate these groups to get into european countries.

But most of the terrorist who did the attacks here in europe were born here.

The far right are the ones doing the terror attacks

Islamic extremists are usually far right all though completely different beliefs.

At least in my country I don't think anyone has been killed by left wing terrorism since the weathermen. At least not in any major attack. The most prominent recent one was the baseball shooting and no one even died. Right wing terror attacks are far more common.

Good work by authorities, more good Muslims being vocal about the bad ones. But there are still terrorist attacks happening today. Just because they aren't happening in more known richer countries, doesn't mean they aren't happening elsewhere.

yeah its probably because of better security measures but just because it doesnt happen in first world countries doesnt mean its not an issue any more and that we should just stop caring about it now that we feel safer.

These attacks have been already happening but as you say the eu people didnt care it unless it happened in eu, in turkey we have had such things for 20 years or more and its still happening, people die and this is the shame for the humanity

Well, In denmark and also in germany we've had some people throwing big stones from bridges onto the highway. Then there has also been some trucks driving into massive crowds in other european countries. I think both of those would classify as small-scale terror.

In 2004 we had the Madrid train bombings (2000 injured) and in 2005 we had the London bombings (almost 800 injured) and the years after up until 2015 almost nothing big happened... Conclusion WHO KNOWS???

It's still happening but less in western countries. ISIS is a small shitty organization that held no real relevant power which is why they resorted to terrorism in the first place. They are very clearly losing territory every day and aligning yourself with them at this point is pointless because nobody, regardless of how brainwashed can actually believe ISIS will accomplish anything at this point, so people are gonna be less willing to throw away their lives for their cause.

ISIS is still living and operating outside of their last bastion of territory. Even when they don't have any territory left they'll be operating in a lot of places. That is the problem with terrorism. It often operates in the shadows.
2019-02-24 01:40
Sure, but recruitment towards ISIS is probably declining as of today due to the fact that they can't leverage many "wins" through their propaganda the same way they did before. Modern terrorism will always exist to some degree. When ISIS inevitably "dies" and the remaining members scatter they will create sub-groups which will then go on to either re-organize a new organization or join an existing one.
