Du hast!
2019-03-03 16:21
I dont get it. This song is so popular in the world but as German, you would say the song is only average by Rammstein. At the Album "Sehnsucht" I know 5 songs which are better.
2019-03-03 16:24
imo Sonne, Amerika and Ich Will are better than Du hast

well the thing is that this song got spread around more then you go into the question of whatever if someone understands german or not etc etc.. but when you look at the instrumental part imo it's way better than ich will or sonne or fuer frei etc.. but eh, point being sometimes only the song which is worldwide known is the one being popular, not the one which is good(from the same artists)
2019-03-03 16:32
Best instrumental part on the Album sehnsucht is "Tier". But you are right. Music can work this well, even if i dont understand it in this point.
2019-03-03 16:49
this is the kind of shit you hear when a linguistics freshman tries to be funny
2019-03-03 16:17
But fails miserably and only ends up offending nearly the whole class.
2019-03-03 16:20
English: so called Germanic language but is mostly based from Latin and borrows from other languages ????????
2019-03-03 16:19
English is listed as a Germanic language but 90% of the time is based from Latin and Greek. And its also a borrowing language meaning that it has loan words from other languages like tsunami from Japanese and encore from French.
2019-03-03 16:22
Basically every language has words from other languages lol, and English is definitely more Germanic than Latin or something
2019-03-03 16:32
Definitely. English is still far more Germanic, since it has both roots and external influences (Norse) that fall under that category. The language was influenced a little bit by Latin during the Roman occupation, and then a bit more heavily during French occupation in the middle ages - but it has no Latin roots whatsoever.
2019-03-03 16:52
All Germanic language based on Latin. Do you expect they create a language out of nowhere when you have already one?
2019-03-03 16:26
+1, I too didn't get the point of explicitly saying that English is based on Latin when he already said that English is a Germanic language...
2019-03-03 16:36
If you're counting "tsunami" from Japanese, you might as well count "Sauna" from Finnish, "Delicatessen" from German, "Guerilla" from Spanish, or even "Kung Fu" from chinese...
