sorry for your loss... This is why I will never understand animal attachment. You buy a pet with a 10 year lifespan and get upset when it dies :/ What did you think was gonna happen?

No I get that. What I'm saying is, you know dogs only live for ~10/15 years, so you purposely set yourself up for the fall. This I do not understand and is why I will never get a pet.

I'm in no way having a go at anyone here but... I see a pet as lazy parenting. Get the kid a dog so it won't notice that I'm not paying it any attention. Or.. Can't get a gf so I'll get a dog and the girls come running to the cute doggo! I got bitten by a dog when I was a child so I've grown up with a fear of them. I fully understand why people have pets and get upset. I'm just looking at a bigger picture.

kids are annoying little fucks who only cry and cry and cry and something is always wrong. it costs a shit ton of money to raise a child compared to a dog. Dog only needs food and water, where as a child needs everything, clothes, medicine blablablalblalbal.

if you give the kid attention when it cries you're basically teaching them that they can get what they want as long as they just cry about it

Animals are pure and not toxic like humans so no thanks. Just give me animals. I can give them best life they could imagine ( This is outside as well ) and they can spend their life with me. In example, dog is really really grateful and loves you fully. And its pure.

Animals are unpredictable because you have absolutely no idea what they're thinking. Doesn't matter how well you think you've trained it, it can turn. A human can too but at least it can tell you why

Originally I questioned why people get pets that only have a 10 year life expectancy. Why not have a child instead? It can do everything a dog can It lives longer It will love you back just as much It can talk to you and tell you what it wants, what is wrong It doesn't cost any more money
2019-03-15 17:37
child cost more than dog???? wtf education ,health, feeding your child ,his/her safety???? it costs more than dog's cost what if your child dies in 3 years after his birth more upset than dog's dying

Well I live in UK. Education is free Healthcare is free Food is not more than dog food Only clothes cost money but dog healthcare is expensive so they even out. Breast Feeding is free until they are old enough. I make a large meal and my daughter eats a small portion of my dinner. It is not more expensive. I'm talking life expectancy. Of course a child can die in 3 years. But the majority of children do not. (In the UK) A dog can also die after 3 years. These are extreme cases. A dog has life expectancy of 10-15 years. A child 80+ years.

hahahahaha, you are silly my dude. Education is not free in UK healthcare is not free in UK food costs more than dogs food. dogs healthcare ? dude what? breast feeding is exhausting and disgusting your daughter can not eat from your plate when she is 1-5 months old. a child doesnt have 80+ years life expectancy

University is not free, but regular school is free. The NHS is free for regular illness. If you are under 18, you get free prescriptions which means free healthcare. The extra food for a child does not cost more. Baby needs milk until it's 6 months old. Then you need specific food, which is basically vegetables and chicken. Stick it in a blender and it's good to eat. Processed baby food is blended adult food. Breast feeding may be exhausting and disgusting but it's free. The life expectancy in the UK is 80.96 years

Will your child run with you? Highly doubt that, he will play with the computer. Will your child play with you? He will, but at some point he won't. Will your child guard the house? He won't be at home, at school time, so no. The list could grow. Also dogs are loving creatures, they love to spend time with you and wait for you to come back. Scientists proven several times, that people who own a pet is less stressed. Autistic child is dealing with autism better if they live with a pet, a pet makes you be physically active. You're welcome.

Run on your own? Get some friends? Play with yourself? Get some friends? Get an alarm? Not all dogs are guard dogs My daughter runs up to me when I walk through the door every single day. She comes and wakes me up in the mornings. She will sit with me and watch movies. We go to the park. The list can go on... Not all children are autistic, only HLTV users. I do not own a pet, I am not stressed, never have been stressed and never will be stressed. I can deal with stress

Nevertheless, you will understand. At some point your child will ask you to buy a pet, then you will understand. If she won't, good for you. But when the child is going to get older you will find yourself having less contact with your child, being less active. At that age you'll find yourself having less friends, due to them living their lives. Another child? Or a pet? I guess you'll be too old for another child x)

My parents were against a pet, but we got it anyways :). You is you, your child is not you. You can't expect her to be in contact with you every day, she will have her own standards and if you force her, you will lose even more contact x)

People get pets for the same reason they find friends, or decide to have children. It's a specific relationship they wish to have at that moment in their life.

I know that. It's just a 10 year relationship. Building yourself up for the fall.
2019-03-15 18:22
A lot of friendships are much less than 10-15 years long and are not guaranteed, a dog is much more reliable than most people. It's also stupid to not seek relationships because they will one day end, your life will end as well but there's no point killing yourself right now just because death itself is imminent. Feeling sorrow and loss is part of life, you learn to grief and you learn how to cope and deal with it. If you walk through your whole life not losing anyone important to you until the most important person in your life goes away I think you'll deal much worse than someone who has experienced loss already.

Humans live for 80 years Dogs live for 10 years. You're gonna be upset 8 times in your life. I'm not saying pets are bad. I'm saying you're building yourself up for a fall because you know it's going to die in 10 years.
2019-03-15 18:30
This is so hard to read first off implying that dogs always live 10 years - both of mine lived for 7 and I've heard of dogs living up to 16 2nd do you believe that the love you felt for that dog for however long it lives isn't worth the greif you feel when it dies?

10 is just average. ~10 means about 10 Im saying save yourself the bother. You know it's gonna last ~10 years so you're inevitably going to be upset. I've said, I fully understand why people get pets. I wouldn't get a pet because I wouldn't want to form an attachment with something that'll be gone soon.
2019-03-15 18:49
So you believe that it's not worth getting a pet because no matter how much you love that animal and no matter how much fun you have with it, because it will die some day, it's not worth it?
