Losing interest in games
AZR |
Australia Mortein
What do I do? I'm really losing interest in most games. The only games I've really played in 2019 are Civilization V (A game that's nine years old) and of course, CS:GO. I have sort of been following new games and none of them seem that interesting. I was really hyped for Metro Exodus, but when it got pulled for steam I also decided not to buy it. TL;DR how do I regain my interest in gaming and with which games?

I should mention that my internet is really bad so I don't have much time to play and learn MP games especially ones like Siege that take a lot of time to learn, so I mostly only play casual MP games.

If you don't like new games, look at the old games, simple as that. I recommend Fallout 1 and 2.

Ehh no offense mate but I'm not really that into older games. I normally draw the line at 2007. Especially ones that you said because they're both older than I am :(

You can never know if you're gonna like the games if you don't try them. If you are not willing to try them then I cannot help you.
2019-03-16 15:19
I agree some of the old games are very VERY good. For example Half-Life series or Reisdent Evil series, Gothic series, Fallout, etc. He should definitely try out legendary games if he haven't yet.

I wish I was playing games 24/7. I'm still on the PC 24/7 but instead of games nowadays I just watch Netflix or YouTube/Twitch.

Well, there is nothing wrong with losing your interest in games, why do you neccessarily want to play games 24/7? It is not the only thing you can do on the computer.Read something interesting on the internet, study or watch youtube. I would ofcourse recommend you to go outside and take a break for pc,but someone has already recommended this to you and you abnegated that. It seems that you have some mental problem, possibly computer addiction, social anxiety or something along those lines considering you are on computer 24/7 and you don't want to go outside. As I have already asserted,do something else on the computer if you really don't want to go outside and play some game that interests you just for 2 hours a day. There is nothing wrong with that. You don't have to play 24/7,there are so many things you can do on the computer.

if your internet is bad and you are even losing interest to games - let me surprize you in a positive way. May I know your age? You as a person is changing your whole life long, each 2-4 years you some of your interests have drifted on your subconscious level of priorities. Losing the interest to games is an indicator that you will most likely have a good hobby or several combined with living a life of a normal person. They younger you are, the more quickly you will become wise if you will be able to think critically, globally and for yourself, shutting down the any kind of propaganda and blocking yourself. The time will show how you will develop you can try Graveyard Keeper the game, it's awesome :D
2019-03-16 15:18
i like how you started to tell him how good it is he is losing interest in games but reccomended one :D

I am 16. And no, I don't have a good hobby nor do I have a level of priority. My day consists of going to school and coming home to go on my PC. That's it.
2019-03-16 15:23
yeah that's what a 16 years old dudes do normally. Being a kid, going to school, making first experience with grills. At this age you have no idea about nothing (no offence it's normal) Your whole body is still developing and it's critical age because the hormones are fucking around with you and your body. Try visiting some military stuff and evolve an interest to tanks or aircraft or simply go to gym + boxing (just don't go to karate or krav-maga or similar bullshit that will fail in a real street fight, unless you're a fucking sifu)
2019-03-16 15:26
just don't go to karate or krav-maga or similar bullshit that will fail in a real street fight, unless you're a fucking sifu biggest bs i read in a while, expected from degenerate german though
2019-03-16 15:28
awww look at that, a krav-maga sucker :D you will fail against a decent boxer big time and you know it LUL you have a degenerate inside your pants watch your mouth
2019-03-16 15:29
i did boxing, krav maga, kyokushin and learnt some judo as well, pro kravmaga>pro boxing :) and stfu noob
2019-03-16 15:32
kyokushin is nice but kravmaga? xD dude it's utter shit u noob :)
2019-03-16 15:33
yeah u probably dont know what krav maga is, retarded inbred noob probably lvl1 faceit boxing with 1 hand haha noob xD noob
2019-03-16 15:34
retarded inbred is your brain ^^ krav maga is weak and gay point. "I did kyokushin krav-maga and boxing" doesn't mean shit, it doesn't make you good. Ving Tsun (not Wing Chung) is 100x more effective than your bullshit maga xD you're gay
2019-03-16 22:15
lul man i do jiu jitsu for 5 years (3 of them were full bjj) and i can fuck every guy of my age that has done 10 years of karate/ taekwondo
2019-03-16 15:31
im not talking about this child weak martial arts taekwondo or shotokan
2019-03-16 15:33
Well, with boxing is almost the same, except you need to be closer to the enemy i can skip some punches but overall i can deal with it too. You just need yo know how to block and not give him space
2019-03-16 15:35
nice man. Karate-do is the worst shit ever, taekwondo is actually really nice I like it and it's deadly but again... a guy who knows how to block (a good boxer for example :D) will simply prevail

I'm waiting for Civ 6 to release with all it's DLC so I can actually buy it for a price I can afford. I'm a 16y/o lazy unemployed kid (my fault true but it's what it is) so I can't really go around dropping $80 on games like it's nothing. I did pirate it a while back, but that was a long time ago and I sort of lost interest.

Losing interest in games is good for you tho, spares up so much time. If you want to get back into CS, watch some pro matches, that's what got me interested again, since it was really frustrating just to keep watching others play. Or buy kerembit bobbler so that you are forced to play otherwise waste of money
2019-03-16 15:55
Just find other interests. Don't fight the urge. You are growing up and maturing and that's a good thing. I haven't touched a game (other than some time wasters on my phone) in 19 months. This time two years ago I spent over 2 grand upgrading my PC and 4 months later I sold my 1080ti, my 960pro m.2 SSD, and my super expensive RAM. I put my 7 year old GTX770 back in my PC, uninstalled Steam and all games, and haven't looked back since. I just started to notice that basically all these games are the same thing over and over and a complete waste of time.
2019-03-16 16:10
I've never played the new dust2, fortnite, apex legends, and the last time I played PUBG was before vaulting was implemented and it was the number 1 game on twitch lol
2019-03-16 16:13
I think its bad to be addicted to games. Last year I did not play anything (expect one game from my childhood) for 6 months, lost the interest aswell. Then I played Witcher 3
2019-03-17 00:59
play haxball
2019-03-17 00:59
it's called growing up don't play if you don't want to i used to be able to play 6 hours a day every day now I am happy with just a few hours a week

same with me! i used to love getting new games and playing the shit out of them, but now all i do on the computer is play cs:go for a couple hours and then watch netflix/youtube the rest of the time. The last game i truly enjoyed and actually completed was far cry 5, since then, I've tried playing metro, ac: odyssey, borderlands, far cry 3, hitman, and even pubg and r6s, and none of those games bring me joy anymore. They're all great games and everytime i watch someone play, i get the urge to play them as well, but when i do, i just give up lol

I lost most interest in games about a year ago. I hate almost every AAAgame that comes out because they are all the same. You just do shitty missions, go kill this guy, travel there, do this pointless shit, collect this item... In every game it's the same but the scenery is different The only thing I still play is CSGO

Try to create a group of friends and play with them different games. Just some online dudes that you may like and you feel comfortable being around with.
2019-03-18 11:46
with any new game i try to play i find out that its more frustrating than its fun. games crash, balance is bad, there are repetitive parts. its clear that in the last 10-15 years the graphic design of games has become only more important and gameplay only less important every year. total war warhammer is a nice example. if it had mod support it would be the best RTS game in the world. but creative assembly would rather sell you 200 euro of shit DLC that isnt even fun to play with. its a good looking game in an okay engine, that cost millions to make. and its shit to play. absolute trash. i have 30 minutes of fun in a 40 hour campaign. the other 39 hours is fighting the same army over and over. the devs did not play it themselves. at all.

Take a small break man. You yourself mentioned that you are on your computer 24/7, it might be that you are oversaturated playing computer games, it works differently for everyone maybe you have hit that ceiling but its okay. I would recommend that you take up some hobby that keeps you away from your PC for as long as possible. Hopefully, something that will keep you busy and out of your house. When you come back to your PC after some time, you will feel refreshed and much better. The want to play games that you have not touched in a long time will come back automatically. I would also suggest that you join some clan or discord and play MP games to keep the social aspect high, you can always mix it well with SP games as well to keep a good balance between the two. Hope you get out this lull period and come back stronger, its no use forcing yourself to do something just cause you are used to doing it. Everyone needs a break, monotonous behaviour has quite a negative effect on one's mental health. Take care!
2019-03-18 11:51
you can go back and play old games, but that wont make games that come out this year any less shit.

op said that he is losing interest in gaming and oly games he plays are civ (9 years old) and csgo (7 years old) the issue isnt that he is playing too uch. its that AAA games these days are trash

He went to say that he has been playing almost throughout the day, go through the conversation that OP has with other people as well and not just what has been given in the description. Usually, it is while talking to others that the real reasons tend to come out and not in the actual description!
