The worst disasters in your nation.

What do you think was the worst disaster to ever strike your country whether it was natural or manmade? The obvious answer for the US would probably be 9/11.

What do you think would be worse? Nearly 3,000 people died from one attack. I'm not asking what the worst war or series of events was. It's still a very big thing here.

The Galvestone Hurricane has no importance in today's America. It had a much bigger death toll but it didn't have the impact 9/11 did for us.

Pearl harbour was a disaster for japan, because usa decided to respond to the brilliant attack on their undefefended military equipment with the two biggest single war crimes in human history.

I get where you're going, but I kinda feel like Pearl Harbor was probably more drastic than 9/11 was. It's hard to compare the two considering the time when both happened, but Pearl Harbor launched a whole series of events afterwards that hasn't been seen since... AKA USA joining the war, Nagasaki / Hiroshima and such. I mean Canadia doesn't really have any MAJOR event like that except the kid that when on a rampage on Parliament hill a few years back in Ottawa, I think he shot like one person lmao but yeah, I understand why you would state 9/11 but historically speaking... I think 9/11 comes to mind because it's recent and the most drastic change in mentality in years... But Pearl Harbor... that's a whole other level? I'm just giving my two cents here since no one seems to grasp the question really.

Of course more people died in the civil war but it wasn't a specific event, they died from hundreds of different events under the war itself. If it's a specific war, I'd go with WW2 then. 9/11 had many, many people dying from one specific disaster.

They aren't specific events. They were all caused by prior instances. I've already told you that as Americans, none of these have had the same meaning that 9/11 did for us. I never claimed it was entirely because of how many people died.

Meude-Argonne was fought over the course of many days, not all deaths were entirely from one part of the battle and the Battle of the Bulge was the same way. These are all deaths that didn't happen from one specific Instance of a battle.

nigga, i dont know a lot about that because i am not suffer in that period. But in general views of chinese it is a big mistake chairman mao had made.
2019-03-18 23:12
i talked with a few political science phds, they unanimously think that stalin/mao/any tyrant communist or socialist made no mistakes, they weakened their countries on purpose to gain total control over them. a starving country can’t fight back against a totalitarian regime, thats why they were so fucking evil. its not your fault that china doesnt teach it to you guys to be honest
2019-03-19 00:42
nt. you believe what you want to believe. i dont see any point i am not honest. and the truth is these people killed at least 50 people in china. Admit it,you have a prejudice against China. it is useless that talk to you anymore.
2019-03-19 00:59
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??! im just saying that stalin and mao were tyrannical. much worse than anything else in recent history for russia/china. i dont claim to know anything about the uygurs (wei wu er) and how they treat chinese people but i am quite certain that its nowhere near as bad as the socialist leader's doing.

Think there are a lot of people who knows more about a country than the natives. For example all the ignorant american people living in the United States who doesn't seem to understand how immoral they have been through the years, especially in the middle east. "Fightning terrorism" has always been a cover up for a bigger interest - getting free oil. Now they will do the same to Venezuela.
2019-03-18 23:07
But the truth is that these people actually kill mant people in china. you know the fact that they are in the reeducation camp, Why not think about the reasons for it
2019-03-18 23:17

Our stolen land and cities were one of the biggest robberies in WW2, still can't believe how all the allies agreed that being fair. Now Karelia and Vyborg is a total shithole wasteland. St. Petersburg would have benefited a lot more with Viipuri(Vyborg) being thriving big Finnish city instead of this garbage. Sad that bad guys won in this case.
2019-03-18 23:59
Same thing for Poland and the baltic states lmao. The allies went to war "For the defense of Poland" But in the end didn't care about it at all and allowed the soviets to annex the land they stole, AND make Poland a puppet government. The soviets got away with being just as aggressive as Germany, just because they won.
2019-03-19 03:17
What they could do against soviets? Start another war?
2019-03-19 10:21
Well if they were willing to start a war against Germany, I don't see why they wouldn't do the same to the soviets. Don't know how right he was, but general George S. Patton wrote in his diary: "In my opinion, the American Army as it now exists could beat the Russians with the greatest of ease, because while the Russians have good infantry, they are lacking in artillery, air, tanks, and in the knowledge of the use of the combined arms’ whereas we excel in all three of these. If it should be necessary to fight the Russians, the sooner we do it the better."

tough question, if we're talking about atmospheric black metal sub-genre it's definitely elderwind, mesarthim and eldamar for me, but overall it's quite hard to decide. There are many influential and important bands in the black metal scene it's really hard for me to choose one.

what do you think of burzum?
2019-03-19 19:15
In terms of music i think Varg did some revolutionary stuff but i can't say i agree with his opinions and personality that much. I like burzum's sound, it has a certain personality and character that's just instantly recognizable. I can't think of a burzum song that i didn't like. But i prefer bands like Mgła more, it sounds more melodic and has a better song structure in its sound. What bands do you like/recommend ? It doesn't have to be BM, i actually don't listen to BM that much anymore, i'm more into technical genres like technical deathcore, djent, melodeath etc.

Depending what you call modern time. For me it's since de 20th century, I'd say that WW1 and 2 are the worst disaters. If you consider that modern time is after WW2 then I agree with you that 13/11/2015 is the worst disaster ^^

You are wrong if you think that assasination of Franz Ferdinand was a result for war to break out. The assasination only triggered the beginning of the war, but reason for the war was not the assasination.

10 million people in 10 years by the british empire as a reprisal of 1857 revolt. Next worse was the bahmani sultanates slaughter of 500,000 hindus as a reprisal for killing of some soldiers. Natural disasters have killed far less in the magnitude of 40,000-60,000.

Caesium-137 case. - Basically, a hospital didn't got properly rid of the substance in 1987, and ignorant people, at those times, started to see that and think: "wow, it shines". Thrash collectors brought it home to gift their wives and they allowed their kids to toy with it. With time, most of them developed cancer, and the ones that survived were really scarred for life. The kids of the people who had contact with the Caesium, in that times, were born deformed and even nowadays some of their son's kids are born deformed, since their genetics are fucked up. It happened in my city (Goiânia, state of Goiás).
