imo it's late 60's psych rock and 70's prog rock. 90's rap is pretty good too. rest are shit (especially grunge)

Music is good when you like it. I have lived to realise that there is no good genre, not really. Good song is a good song. I love great songs from 80s all the way up until 2019. If the song is good, its good. No matter the time or genre.

#125 and no way they're better than Opeth musically. Opeth's songwriting is out of this world.
2019-03-20 22:48
Only Opeth album that I listen occasionally is Blackwater Park, others feels like pretentious to me. Look! I can hit this note too. no emotion. Dream Theater like music. (which I like their some songs and their live performances) Btw very good to see fellow countryman who share same enthusiasm with same style of music, which is rare
2019-03-21 15:33
Dude how can you say Opeth's music doesn't contain any emotion ? Did you listen to Watershed album ? It's my favorite album of all time. I don't know how it's similar to DT in any way but Opeth is not a "listen and appreciate" band. You have to listen to their songs several times and you'll discover new little details in every listening, and you'll memorize the whole song on 100th listening. That's how it goes for me. Blackwater park is the album i least listened and love for some reason, idk why. But you should check out Watershed album, every song is great.
2019-03-21 18:12

2019-03-20 22:13
Nice joke, Opeth > All. My top3 for prog is Opeth, Be'lakor and Ne Obliviscaris. It was hard to make a decision out of all the great bands out there but Opeth is certainly the best at literally everything. Songwriting, versitality etc. and they are literally gods of their instruments. I like Ne Obliviscaris a lot, but compared to Opeth they are nowhere near them. Just listen to 2 Ne Obliviscaris songs, they will sound really similar, that's not the case with Opeth. btw best Ne Obliviscaris song is "of petrichor weaves black noise", so underrated.

Idk I've only listened to a few opeth songs and they didn't sound as impressive as ne obliviscaris ones. It may just be the music recommendation algorithm that just isn't recommending the best ones Btw "of petrichor weaves black noise" isn't nearly their best lul, imo It's Forget Not or Painters of the tempest part 2

Psychedelic, alternative and progressive rock are still going very stron these days. Lots and lots of great artists. I feel like these are the music genres that just refuse to stop growing. You just have to dig a bit deeper these days, because even painfully mainstream artists like fucking Coldplay are often branded as "alternative", even tho there is nothing alt about them...

70s prog rock is easily the best music ever created. Pink Floyd and Genesis come to mind. Other great 60s/70s rock would be stuff like Steve Miller, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, the Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd... We could be here forever tbh. I also like late 80s/early-mid 90s grunge/rock: Nirvana, Faith no More, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden...

First one is unavailable, so can't say anything about it. Necrophagist is one of my favorites, guitarist/vocal is Turkish btw. I like Panopticon but only listened to one of their albums, will add this to my list.

Rap imho Old school and new school, both good. Old school for pure rap and meaning and new school has artists who can even sing and it's more versatile then ever.

Eminem - Overall this man is probably my fav, it seems i just have the same life like him, maybe this is why i get along with his stuff. GOAT Dr.Dre - he deserves more respect for the albums and stars he has created, this man is a monster when it comes to rap game. Ice Cube - he has a lot of great songs, but he has also very average ones, overall a great rapper. Denzel Curry(last album) - this album is fucking great, probably the best newschool album right now, fantastic feeling overall. Mobb Deep - just listen to their songs, priceless value... Nas - same like Ice Cube 2Pac - so i might get killed for it, but i think as a RAPPER 2pac was average, but his persona and shit made him the monster we all remember Biggie - now i will explain the 2PAC bit, i think as a RAPPER Biggie eats 2pac, he was a lyric monster, however his persona and shit were weaker than 2PAC, thus the 2PAC v Biggie war. Personally for me it is a draw. I prefer Biggie type of music, but 2Pac lyrics about real life shit. N.W.A - honestly not a big supporter of that, had hard time listening to it, but i respect it. Eazy-E - for me one hit wonder, but N.W.A on the otherhand saves him. Westside Connection - Just Ice Cube description but change the names. Wu-Tang - Monster of a band it was, even the worst song was on above average level. Snoop Dogg - in terms of music RESPECT, in terms of personality, SHAME. He makes great music, but damn he has a shitty personality, with the reggae shit, with going for the trends with some electro shit, not loyal to rap game, but a great rapper. Jay-Z - i guess fine, not my type of music, but N***as in Paris is amazing Wiz Khalifa - i think he could go to the GOAT level, but the man doesn't give a single fu.. Drake - A pop monster for the newschool XXXTentacion - his songs after he decided to change were top notch with amazing value in it, pre change it was just for fun. definetely a good one to check out. Sadboy Loko - real G thats all Kanye West - same like Jay-Z, but i think he had way more hits, and overall created a great episode in rap history J. Cole - OG reincarnation if New School, the man is killing it Flo Rida - i hate his songs, just fuck off Kendrick Lamar - OG reincarnation if New School, the man is killing it, voice a bit annoying Royce Da 5'9" - HE IS SO UNDERRATED, FUCK MAN, HE IS A MONSTER, check him out Kid Cudi - same like flo rida, but actually has 2 songs you can go along with Rae Sremmurd - they will be a OG for the New School, if not the band, Swae Lee for sure, guys rock it 50 Cent - not a big supporter of his music but i see people fuck with it Ty Dolla $ign - same like Wiz $uicideBoy$ - if you are edgy i guess, i like it, but sometimes it is too much Schoolboy Q - fine, just fine, i like it
