Gym Help (Whey)
 |
India stiwa5k
This is my first time buying whey, i am regular gym member for 4 months now, gaining muscle mass and cutting on weight, I'm overweight. I want to try whey and see how it enhances the same. I currently stay in the Philippines. What are great whey brands to try? ON? Myprotein? BSN? Muscletech? Or local filipino brands? Pls help. Thanks :)

get ON gold standard, if you are rich get hydrolyzied. Very cheap protein tastes bad and might give u digestion issues. If you cant afford neither just get creatine and eggs/chicken. Eggs have the best protein absorption from natural protein sources (hydrolyzied whey protein best )

It really doesnt actually matter which brand you try. As they said, most of them are equally same. Take whey-isolate (100%) its a bit more expensive than the regular whey but its the leanest one. :)

not really man low quality Lidl protein makes me feel pukeish and bloaty while hydrolyzied whey protein (for rich kids) not only tastes a lot better but also give no problems
2019-03-20 20:14
Lidl sportyfeel products are shit so i can accept that. I buy my gym nutrients online. Big bags, cheap and quality products. I guess it depends how "strong" your stomach are. People are different. Sry im pretty high right now but i guess you got the point.
2019-03-20 20:23
you are lifting for 4 months, probably didn't even gain noobs gains yet so you don't need to deal with such things, these articles are made for people that probably eat brown rice

Btw you have to loose fat to guet mass, else it doesnt work, ask anyone

You know nothing about health and nutrition, idiot. The protein from the eggs/meat/milk is not different from the protein from whey powder. The difference comes from the micronutrients which are contained in the whole foods. And where did I say that you should consume 200g whey daily. Get your fax straight you 120lbs low test beta cuck

2019-03-20 19:33
Every bit of protein not used to bolid mass is eliminated by the kidneys. Its not huge but additional protein added to the diet and not put to use do some damage

Maybe in india.. im not sure sorry :D but in Germany theres barely any difference between really cheap and really expensive Brands... you should only get kidney Stones / pimples if your Overall Nutrition is really bad… man boobs are genetic… the only way to get them if you dont have the Genetics is by taking the wrong Steroids/HGH ;D dont worry About it, most anti-whey Propaganda is complete bullshit… same for creatine

Stuff like soy protein can also affect manboobs, since soy stimulates estrogen production (which is obviously a huge no for men).

isolate whey protein gets absorbed like 50% better than chicken eggs and chicken eggs are the best natural protein source. If chicken protein absorption is scaled to 1 then isolate whey is at 1.55 and walnut protein is at like 0.44

I've been eating good and also i tried intermittent fasting for like a month, i lose couple pounds :)
2019-03-20 19:22
Yeah, if your basic daily energy consumption is around 2000-2500 calories (it usually is for normal men, meaning you are not power lifter/muscle gainer etc.) you just eat that, maybe little less like 100-200 calories less. But the thing is you want to eat a bit less white grains (pasta, white rice etc.) and get the needed calories from good grease, fruits and vegetables. I guarantee you will start losing weight. And if you add the muscle training you will start to build some muscles even you lose some weight.

How much you weight? You can have the necessary amount per day of protein from foods most likely, but you can try it tho, it's easy to prepare and can come handy sometimes As for brands, I don't think they really matter, just get anything isolated

Isloated costs more than whey concentrate, i weigh a lil over 100kgs but I'm 6'2"
2019-03-20 19:23
it does for a reason. if you're cutting you'll need lots of protein so you don't lose muscle mass , I'd say you need around 260g of protein a day... I know it's a lot but you can do it. 1.2g per body pound, 100kgs ~220 pounds

After 4 months of training, at the point you lose fat and gain muscles easily, you dont need whey. All protein you need can be obtained from regular food. learn to eat well first, because you will get in trouble when you'll try to pass a stagnation point.

Sounds like your diet is good. Eggs, chicken and other meats are much better than supplementing whey, because they provide micronutrients. On a side note, a lot of people, including myself, tend to get acne when using whey.

Not sure about the manboob part, that's usually a side effect of steroids. Kidney stones would be caused by dehydration probably, unless someone is taking so much whey that it is actually affecting their kidneys. If you have one serving a day, it shouldn't cause kidney stones. Either way, if you are susceptible to acne from dairy, I wouldn't recommend whey. Just keep eating eggs and chicken. Beef is great, but I'm not sure if you guys eat that in India.

you wont get manboobs from whey. Gynecomastia appears when u r on external testosterone, and body tries to even it with estrogen. when u lower or cut off test intake, body is still producing estro and boom, you get man boobies. and ur snake if soft for a year at least

bullshit :) dont listen to this beta cuck :) everyone with a brain knows its not better than other Protein you get from your natural Food the Purpose it serves is to still supply you with Protein even when youre not hungry / dont have time for a big meal "The only purpose it serves it for companies to make money from you." :D conspiracy-theorist spotted… its not even expensive in the slightest… if you want to get the same amount of Protein you get from an average 40€ whey-box through meat, you would have to spend hundreds of €s

I like how you reply on something else that what i wrote. You can get protein from a lot of different sources as you point out. True you can. But whey still doesnt have an effect on musclegain compared to a healthy diet. So therefore the 40€ spend on whey is better spendt at some healthy diet.

Not sure what most of these guys bashing Whey Protein are talking about. It's very high in the amino acid cysteine, which raises levels of the antioxidant glutathione and leads to many health benefits. It'll help promote muscle growth, but be aware, if you're looking to lose weight, muscle weighs more than fat. As you lose fat and gain muscle, it won't show up as quick on the scales. Just keep working hard at the gym with a solid diet, and you'll see results. I'd also recommend dropping weight first. Low Carb diets are now proven to rapidly lose weight far more successfully than low fat. Carbs and Sugar mean fat. Low fat means healthy heart, no the difference. Drop breads, sodas, pasta and rice and eat more veggies and meat. Then when you're happy with the weight loss, slowly add carbs back in the form of brown rice and multigrain breads while slowly upping your protein. You want your mass to build on at a healthy level without adding too much fat. Good luck man.
2019-03-20 19:07
Drinking sodas has no effect on diet if you have certain amount of physical activity. Forgot the case study name, but it could be found on internet i believe. Im drinking mountain dew sometimes i dont give a fvck. im eating very healthy right now and it doesnt change nothing for me + helps to not go for sweets pretty good.
2019-03-20 19:17
mountain dew is like 0 calories nowadays so u are either lucky or just cherry picked ;p

Yeah, if you're active enough to burn the sugars before they add to your weight you're set. Even as a type 1 diabetic I can enjoy a can of full sugar Coke while I go on an intense hike. Staying active and making sure you use whatever you're eating means you can enjoy relatively unhealthy foods more often.

2019-03-20 19:26
The one and only method for losing bodyweight is being in a caloric deficit, everything else is irrelevant to that. The balance between carbs/fat is just a matter of preference and has no impact on your weight(not that it does not matter in other stuff, like energy levels etc.). Keto, paleo, omnivore, high carb - matter fuck all, just make sure you consume enough protein per day and watch your calorie intake.

Never got a chance to reply to this earlier, yes you're right, but a low card diet will lose fat faster. Multiple studies have been conducted now, I think a summary of over 20 was posted to healthline and a few other medical sites. With significant different between weight loss between low carb and low fat test subjects. OP oldmanbroughtthisphone is still correct. Getting into a caloric deficit is the way to go losing weight. Optimizing the diet you use to get into that caloric deficit can provide better results though.
2019-03-26 17:09
Still, I'm a fan of the "flexible" diet because the only thing that matters for a diet is if you find it easy to stick to the plan in the long term, if you don't like greasy foods and/or a lot of fat being consumed you will struggle with being strict on a daily basis (same goes for carbs and high carb diet), which is the most importang thing as I said. On theory you can eat all the junk food in the world while being in a deficit and you will still lose weight (not that you should do that, because junk has zero to none micronutrients and you will eventually get sick). So yeah, it's a matter of preference and also, don't believe a person who is promoting BCAAs and mass gainers

Whey brands in a nutshell, thank you
2019-03-20 19:27
Like ''Xperrience'' said above, brand doesn't really matter, most protein-powders are extremely similar to eachother, the most notable difference is the taste. What you should look out for though is ingredients like ''maltodextrin'' and other ''dextrins'' because those are just useless fillers that manufacturers put in the mix to make the bag look more full. They do it because it's cheaper than putting more protein in (which is what you want from a protein-powder obviously). Ingredients like these are usually a sign of a ''bad'' protein-powder.

Only buy whey protein isolate if your buying whey. the other stuff has other shit besides straight whey and can have amino acids that dont even impact muscle growth. Real food is always a better option. This is coming from someone who went from 125-170 over 3-4 years.

protein is protein. ofc powders with a lot of sugar and additives are going to be worse for you, but at the end of the day you're getting protein and the brand of powder you use wont really affect gains. some brands cut the whey protein with soy protein, which is cheaper but leads to worse gains than whey, so watch out for that. honestly tho i dont rly like protein shakes because i'd rather just eat something after working out or just drink like a half gallon of chocolate milk lol.

You need to track your food first, use an app like Myfitnesspal. Supplements are there to supplement your diet, you only need whey if you struggle to add that 20g of protein. As for brands I don't think it matters much, just whey isolate from a well-known brand should be okay.

all whey is the same mate Dont spend more than ~20$ for 1kg of pure whey (isolate) the brand doesn't matter at all

1st point) Indian market is full of duplicate whey same situation as other NON WHEY MANUFACTURING countries. 2nd point) Do not buy MUSCLE BLAZE -> Bad absorption so not so good results 3rd point) If u want a 100% guaranteed original quality go for MyProtien as they sell it directly from their site and deliver it directly to ur house 4th point) DIET is more important than SUPPLEMENT note that .

Eat less than 2500 calories a day and you'll lose weight, 2000 calories diet will make you lose 1 pound in a week, as 3500 calories is a pound. Working out will help you develop muscle and retain muscle lost with dieting. Lots of people forget to add weight training so when they lose weight they look much scrawnier than intended.
