If you sit down a lot during the day you should do the ''good morning'' exercise at least once a day, it can help you to avoid back pains and such.
Start with push ups, then start running eventually. Dont over-push first month. Also ~ 15km walks are good if you have 3 hours and dont get bored

Anything is better than nothing. Walking is good thing, also a desk which you can raise and lower during the so at times you stand up while working.
How do you transport yourself - maybe you can ride a bike some of the time or just walk. Like say if you use a bus then get off the bus a stop before your destination when time allows.
