ASTRALIS = National heroes ?
Turkey engin4000
Can we say, that those guys can be considered like national heroes ? In my opinion after Denmark's triumph in Euro Cup - 1992, their successes are something unreal and I think, that they deserve statues in Denmark.

No! It's probably less than 1% of the danish population that follows Esport. When Denmark won the Euro-cup in 92, literally the whole country were partying in the streets, even dancing and drinking on top of police cars.
2019-03-24 15:35
Imagine having 5 world cups and 2 majors...

Brazil: Population - 203 million Majors - 2 Grand slams - 0 Eras - 0 Denmark: Population - 6 million Majors - 2 Grand slams - 1 Eras - 1
2019-03-27 10:06
1. You can't count grand slams in there as there were only 1. You can start counting them after there are a couple of them one. I also can say Kinguin 1 Gaming Paradise Astralis 0 2. If you are gonna count the population, do a % of the gaming population from the total population, else, it's not relevant because is not homogeneous 3.How do you count Astralis having an era? Only because they were dominant 1 year? 4. Just learn statistics.

2019-03-27 14:02
1. Eeeee wut? Grand Slams started in April 2017 and all teams had their chance to win enough tournaments. But Astralis got there first. We don't even know when or if there will be a 2nd winner. 2. Agreed. % of population. 3. I think an era should cover a defined period (idk how long) in which one team is truly dominating the scene. So Nip, fnatic, SK and now Astralis. I don't it's needed to say which era is the most dominant. 4. Ok
2019-03-27 12:29
Yes man, but you can't make fun of a team that they didn't won an "event". When that "event" took place only 1 time. Because there is only 1 winner, is not like counting the majors wins....you get what I'm saying? He could have said something like...idk...Astralis 4 win in IGS, MiBR 2 Also, regarding "3", you just said SK had an era, and he says Brazil "0 era". So how do you define an era?
2019-03-27 14:06
I get what you're saying, but at the same time IGS is not time-limited the same way major or any tournament is. All top teams had 10 entries in tournaments that counts towards IGS titel and only Faze was close with 3 and losing last final to Astralis. So I think it is a fair point to say that Astralis has 1, imo. An era is an extended period of time in which 1 team is truly dominating, "untouchable". LG/SK had their run for approx. 6 months which should be considered era, again imo.
2019-03-27 14:16
3 majors now too. Atlanta London Katowice

They are national heroes? Yes, you literally can’t go anywhere without either hearing about them or seeing commercials. But i don’t think they deserve statues, I mean it’s a fucking video game.
2019-03-24 15:37
You must live in Copenhagen. I've never seen any commercials or heard about them in Jylland, expect for a few news sites once in a while.
2019-03-24 15:42
Ive seen commericals in Aarhus. I also had a stop in Vejle and there was ALOT of posters of Astralis on the train station and in the city. They're in the news frequently and ZULU also does a nice job of showcasing them. Their pictures are also in every JacknJones shop, of which there are many spread throughout the country.
2019-03-27 01:02

Hverken dem eller EM vinder 92 er helte for at vinde i sport? Tror helte betyder noget helt andet.
2019-03-25 17:43
Then step into elgiganten or wherever u can buy gaming shit and then you find their jerseys + They make the news for every tournament they win

We don´t have statues of Peter Schmeichel and the other Heroes of 1992. But we do have a "Sports Hall of Fame", which includes Scheimchel and the Laudrup brothers. It only admits 1 new person per year however. Tom Kristensen got in after winning the Le Mans 24 hour race 10 times. Bjarne Riis would surely be there for winning the Tour De France, but he confessed to doping. Caroline Wozniacki will go there for winning a Grand Slam, but you only go there after your career ends. Unlikely Astralis will go there. Maybe Dev1ce one day? Another honor is being invited to Copenhagen City Hall and being greeted by thousands of fans in the City Square. That honor is reserved for Team Sports (like football and handball), after big victories. Astralis has won everything already though, so when should they be invited? The biggest honor Astralis has received in Denmark is indirect: Thanks to them big CS:GO tournaments are showed on national TV, and their fanbase has grown enormously. Esports are also now part of sports news on TV, that didn´t happen 2 years ago.
2019-03-24 16:00
ELEAGUE Atlanta 2017 was on the news 😎😎

Please dont say this out loud. The danish Prime Minister would actually consider it. "Look son, there is the fearsome, granite carved device and in some kind of red stone, we got Magic"
2019-03-24 17:28
this just proves that danish people are the most retarded on hltv national heroes? all of you scums dont seem to know what a national hero is.
2019-03-24 17:34
For me all people, who achieve something unrealistic in any Branch can be heroes. I don't agree, that most of the people considered like heroes - persons, who did something in historical plan. For example in war.
2019-03-24 17:39
Look through the thread. Nobody is calling them national heroes, certainly no danes. In a previous thread about national heroes, no danes mentioned Astralis. Most mentioned Tordenskjold. Astralis are Sports-heroes and may in time be celebrated like other sports heroes.
2019-03-26 12:31
Albania is the worst country in Europe; I mean you're ugly, you're poor, you're unintelligent, you're uneducated, your history is garbage, you've been dismanted by other people more than I can count, if I was Albanian I would have no pride at all... It's just some grown men kicking a ball around like children... ...oh wait, people take that seriously now.
2019-03-24 19:56
Are you really trying to compare athletes with fat kids?
2019-03-24 20:40
I think you are in the wrong forum. Are you really hating on eSport over football?
2019-03-25 18:08
I just thought it was a terrible comparison. I love eSports, but I don't think Astralis are national heroes. Maybe in 20 years.
2019-03-25 18:17
I doubt eSport will ever be as big as say football, but it will get bigger for sure. However there will always be something very intuitive to kicking a ball, much more so that anything that requires electronics. For me eSports is more than football, but I recognize it will never reach the same level and I am fine with that as long as I am not forced to watch football matches :-)
2019-03-25 19:54
Nope
2019-03-24 22:49
National heroes is a stretch, but a great team for sure. eSport is still minor league and I for one put many other sporting heroes ahead of them, like: - Tom Kristensen (9 times Le Mans winner, 6 time Sebring winner...) - Caroline Wozniacki (29 WTA titles, several stints as the worlds #1, 600+ match wins..) and there is the many other that excel in their fields ie. Handball, womans Football, Badminton, Sailing, Cycling...
2019-03-25 18:06
Hmm this is some interesting News for me, i always thought that the danes only was good at ringridning
2019-03-25 18:21
LOL - I didn't know we are good at ringriding, so we both learned something. I think we do well with many sports, just not the ones where snow or ice is involved (it is almost a sensation if we get medals at the Winter Olympics).
2019-03-25 19:59
yeah i think they are good in cs thats good for their country
2019-03-26 12:47
Definitely. If Danish medias gave them more attention, (or any Danish esport team/players) people would know them and considered them as their heroes. Astralis (gla1ve) already got into the Morgen Kaffee (or idk how it's called, the morning news) after they won the IEM Grand Slam.
