gla1ve underrated?

I was reading some "top10" threads lately and people always put all Astralis players in top 10, except for gla1ve. I find it kinda weird, since he is the IGL of the team that is tactically superior to all other teams. I know he might not be the best rifler (still pretty good for an IGL), but his calls are spot on and that's what makes a good IGL. Considering how dominant Astralis is rn and the fact that their tactics play the important role in that domination, I think that leaving him out and praising the rest of the team is not really good. I feel like people are kinda biased towards main riflers, snipers, entry fraggers etc, while IGLs get shit on the most. What's your opinions?

I made the thread right after reading one hltv.org/forums/threads/2014955/top-10-2.. That's one example. Made by Astralis fan, with 4 Astralis players in top 6, no gla1ve whatsoever.

what an igl brings to the table is not measurable and intangible so it should never be taken into account on top 20 lists for all we know half of the mid round calls are done by dupreeh/device and all the strats are made by zonic

That's a fair point, but strats alone aren't what make Astralis so strong. The way they are able to execute them so perfectly and adapt to what's happening in the round is what makes them so dominant (outside of their individual skills of course). And I don't think that would be possible without able IGL. And when it comes to mid round calls it's kinda logical, that the people with the most info, that is entry and sniper, are making fast calls depending on the situation. But the overall gameplan lies in the hands of IGL.

roles are almost completely ignored on hltv top 20 lists the only time they really didnt was fallen in 2016 if his igl role was ignored there is no way he would of been ahead of device/shox/snax and he shouldnt have been because they were better players

glaiveis one of the most underradted player in esports. for me he is the clear number 1playerin the world right now. you can switch out any player on astralis and they would still be number 1probably but if you let glaive go its over

There will always be bad top10 threads. Doesn't change the fact that he was the best #8 player in 2018.
2019-03-26 10:45
ur kinda right, and he isn't even that bad outside of the tactical aspects of cs

I think you are spot on. Some people dont see the work that is being put into tactics and how important it is. The reason why people get all lost in players like simple, devices, zywoo is because they are attracted to flashy things like nikeshoes, iphonex and a sick round by simple.

You are right, I don't see the work put in.. I don't know how much of it really is glaive, so I cannot possibly rank him in a fair way.

Gla1ve is a great igl but his performance in game is not always great
2019-03-26 16:45
I would put Gla1ve in top 3.

2019-03-26 17:09

And those "many different ways" you are referring to do not include being a great IGL.

the question is who does all the hard work preparing the specific nade and position set ups for the team to use and exactly how to counter every team. in an interview glaive said that he spends 5 hrs to prepare for just one best of 3 every single time. zonic no doubt would be doing a lot behind the scenes with glaive aswell im sure, you have to study the enemy teams really well and have the best counter for them its a lot of work , its the same thing for low online leagues if you can actually watch and study all your opponents to start directly anticipating and countering them you are on the path to consistent success and winning as the best in the world do.

before the major he was fragging a lot and it worked, and then at the major he didn't frag a lot but they changed something I guess, and it still works, so even if he frags or not it doesn't matter, so yeah underrated af tbh best igl ever atm
