Germany Pychologist
The least Age to vote, alcohol and other stuff? Id say 20 for voting and high percentage alcohol and cigarettes. Because this is the age were the most people are adult

2019-03-26 15:10

??? kids are defined by behaving like kids and when you are 20 you become more responsible than when you are 18.
2019-03-26 16:29
kids will still start drinking at 16
2019-03-26 17:07
exactly, so make it legal for them so it at least takes away the lure of it being "forbidden"

Yes. attempting to make things inaccessible has historically never achieved anything

2019-03-28 21:14
Why not give people a choice to do whatever they want? Just because dont want people to smoke, you shouldnt want cigs to be illegal or very expensive. Otherwise, why not make alcohol 3 times as expensive, products that include sugar or fat, make it illegal to noy excercise. People should decide for themselves whatever they want to use and how to live their lives. Not other people forbidding others from taking or doing things
2019-03-26 17:33
ok why dont we just let kokaine be legal
2019-03-26 17:38
Well, why shouldnt we? At least you can counter abuse more and inform people better. Also you didnt answer any of my questions. Why not ban suger or make it very expensive? Why noy ration meat, so the world doesnt go to shit? Why let people decide anything for themselves? The government knows better right? Where do you draw the line? Its very self centered to have a believe on a subject and forcing others to comply with that believe. Such as, I think people shouldnt smoke! So no1 should be allowed to! Its ridiculous.
2019-03-26 17:43
these all things dont damage others and themself directly (when done in proper way) also for some people it might even be needed. cigarettes do that such as kokaine also the problem is that children can easier get to these things when they dont understand the world and later they will feel bad for it. Why should everyone explain themself lol without even knowing if they would read
2019-03-26 17:50
Sugar damages others as in medical insurance costs are driven up because of it. People that whine about second hand smoke being bad for them weirdly enough dont mind sitting around a campfire or BBQ, while those things are much worse for them. Its hypocritical. Protecting children should be done by age restrictions. Its crazy to ban something for everyone so children dont use it.
2019-03-26 17:55
1. But not directly and not as bad as cigarettes. 2. Like I said making drugs affordable makes them also spread. It is like a slow suicide process and suicide is seen as smth very bad. And there is a difference between staying close to cigarettes or grills because you probably want the one and the other one not. the problem is tho that age restrictions dont restrict children being able to get cigarettes.
2019-03-26 18:06
let us stop this discussion wont change anything anyways

2019-03-26 17:32
you cant trust people to make reasonable decisions. Many people vote with their gut and dont understand many political subjects and the consequences of their choices on such subjects. Why would you want to allow people that have no idea what theyre talking about/voting on to vote?
2019-03-26 17:35
The problem is that you can't objectively say if someone should or shouldn't vote
2019-03-26 17:44
I agree. But it isnt great to have the majority of voters to be uninformed and voting almost randomly.
2019-03-26 17:45
So youngs adults who are smart enough to vote should be punished by retards, who whatever you'll do, will not be able to vote right?
2019-03-26 17:48
Why should smart people be punished by retards? I didnt say anything like that. I think that people shoulf be able to make an informed decision if they want to vote. Perhaps its better to have economical subjects covered by economists, instead of John Doe who doesnt know shit about it. I dont know of a good replacement system, but I surely dislike our current one, where people vote on things they cant even remotely comprehend.
2019-03-26 17:58

2019-03-26 15:16
yes
2019-03-26 15:25
haha XD
2019-03-26 15:27
At this point it wouldn't hurt to randomly toss in a general easy question about the party-program when voting. Voting should be 21+ ( or even 25+) anyway and not 16 or 18, these people generally are subject to biased media or teachers these days, you'll find it hard pressed to find multiple 18 year olds per class that have formed their own opinion and not just offer you their learned opinion. There's a reason the left parties always try to lower the voting age while not being able to come up with an actual good reason for doing so; the younger, the more susceptable for brainwashing and biased reporting / group pressure. (They know full well the teacherworld is full of their own, and they influence the students). For example crazy leftists these days, they'll tell you the earth is dying etc, but they also tell you people don't earn enough and the paygap is too high, middle class is struggling. But left isn't about the 'people' anymore, so they feign caring about salary and social security while they're only hysterical about the environment. When you then ask them how doubling their energy bill (or doubling flight costs, meaning many cannot even go on holiday once while they keep flying themselves) is affordable for the same people they say are struggling, their brain crashes like a computer; they never learned how to answer it since they haven't put in any thought in being a hipster 'leftist' which feels so damn cool to be.
2019-03-26 16:27
+1 totally agree
2019-03-26 17:16
This is down to the country to educate the people well so they can have their own opinion about stuff
2019-03-26 17:25
Most people arent smart enough to be educated properly. Theyll still listen to what they deem authorities on subjects and just blindly follow those. People also love to just pick a side and agree with everything that side says. I dont think education will help much.
2019-03-26 17:38
But where do you draw the line between "retards" and "smart people"?
2019-03-26 17:46
That would be massively challenging. So I dont know. Im just saying I dislike our current system and pointing out its flaws.

You are mostly right. There should be a way to calculate people's prowess to make valid desicions in polls. Students and elder people are influenced by others so I believe they are not usually in a position to make valid desicions. Overall knowledge about history and parliament authorities should be known. Also I think the people who are allowed to vote should be part of the community some way (like working and paying taxes). There are of course exceptions in stundents/elder/immigrants but mostly those group should NOT have able to vote in the polls.

You assume that everyone who is stupid voted for Trump? You shouldn't base someone's iq off of who they voted for. Besides, it doesn't matter who you vote for everyone in the government (at least usa's) is just looking for money. the president makes $400,000 a year, yet Obama is now worth 40 million, Bill Clinton is worth $45 million (USD). They are in it for themselves.
2019-03-26 15:22
I didnt say that. but it is known that the less education/inteligent people are more likely to vote for right populist parties, cuz these people think simple and those parties propagate simple solutions. I agree with everything else you said

If you can’t vote you shouldn’t have to pay taxes. If you spend money on the social system you deserve a say in how it is spent. That is why the UK needs to lower the voting age to 16 or raise the age you pay tax to 18.
2019-03-27 10:25
Nigga what ? What job is a 16 year old doing to be earning over the tax threshold. Most jobs for 16 year olds (potwashing, waiters etc.) Earn minimum or close to minimum. None of them earn anywhere near the £11,850 a year ( I'm black btw Jonathan E don't ban )
2019-03-27 11:59

When it comes to voting, nah not the age to vote but rather the right to remove someone from the goverment and replace him by someone younger, you can't have 100yo leader and expect 10mil 20yo lads following that leader Regarding alc and cigs what difference does it make when you can pretty much buy it legally at the age of 13?
2019-03-26 15:28
There should be a test to assess your political knowledge, not an age restrictions. Some, if not most of people voting against certain party without an essential knowledge, how politics work. It's unthinkable.

The earlier the better for drinking. All countries where kids can't drink alcohol until 21 all turn out incapable of dealing with alcohol in a mature way. Turns out if you withhold something for so long and make it seem special and unobtainable it just makes people act stupid when they can finally get access to it. It takes Americans another 5-10 years to handle alcohol like adults.

I'm not convinced it would be one and single age for everything. For instance, at what age you start to have enough knowledge to vote? I'd say 16. What age your brain grows wont suffer that much of alcohol ? We should ask a doctor. What age is on average required to be mature on risk/reward subject (and so mature enough for drugs)? I'd say 21, even we are vastly different on that subject. So drugs : 18 or more. Vote : 16. If I'm in favor of lowering voting age, it is because your vote will impact your life for many years. For instance, a candidate willing to build more nuclear powerplant and another one who do not want that. 16yo people are more concerned by that and the nuclear issue it can create in 40 years than a voting 80yo who will be passed away by then. Also, in many countries, including France, 16yo is enough to be trailed as an adult in crime case, so I believe the State already consider that age to be responsible for their action as much as adults. So they would be as much responsible of their vote.
