1.6 russian walking
France Js20
Is russian walking in 1.6 silent or not? Some people say it is and others say it isn't. I'm not sure who's right.

i dunno if they can walk
2019-03-27 22:03
wtf lmao
2019-03-29 15:55
It's quieter but still audible. More relevant problem is it messing up hitboxes.

What’s russian walking? Like scrolling?
2019-03-28 00:49
Tapping crouch in 1.6 causes character to make a small jump in air. Can be useful for jumping on small ledges and peeking over boxes. Russian walk is chaining it continiously while running, which reduces momvement sound and breaks hitboxes. I didn't like it mainly because I prefered tapping over spraying in 1.6, for which russian walkers are a bane.
2019-03-28 00:57
> breaks hitboxes. No, it does not. You're just a n00b who can't hit shit.
2019-04-20 00:52
So it has a name? Lol Yes I used it all time and players around me as well, it's still hearable enough to ur opponents know where you are

it used to be called Begrip jump after that swedish clan
2019-03-28 01:03
Nope. Russians made doubleduck in 2005-2008, I don't remember. I remember that I went to public servers and heard about talking about it, that we came up with it
2019-03-30 11:22
Oh shit, im sorry. I remembered. M19 used this in 2001,

yeah it could be more teams that came with this not knowing about each other... it's just abusing the bug of old engine where it did messed up your hitboxes as people already wrote here. I used to make it too altough it wasn't game-breaking as some might say.
2019-03-31 18:02
nobody knows the real origin of it Tixo saw some russians using it in a Showmatch and then he started doing it so they called it Russenduck aka Russian ducking/walk/silent etc The whole point of it was. You change your Model Hitbox / your speed remains the same / only every second step can be heard. Valve even tried to remove this from the Game :) and failed hard
2019-03-28 01:11
I think valve managed to remove the bug. You can't duck jump without not making a sound anymore. Before P47 you could.
2019-03-29 15:49
there are server plugins that remove it, completely ruins the movement tho. it's just part of the game.
2019-03-29 16:18
It used to work, now it doesn't. If you double duck, the second sound has a very low to inaudible walk sound queue. Still makes a pain in the butt to hit targets tho.
2019-03-29 15:50
pretty sure it's always made a little sound, like one little step every second.
2019-03-29 16:17
Still footsteps, but its like you only hear every third step, making it hard to prefire due to useing sounds.
2019-03-29 15:53
it was never a problem, the russian walk steps in 1.6 are as loud as normal steps in GO lul
2019-03-29 16:08
wtf, no they are not.
2019-03-29 16:28
I know it as begrip walk, perhaps due to being in different scene. It is still works AFAIK and, while not completely silent, every second (or so) step sound is considerably quieter. This can obfuscate your distance for the player relying on sound queues. As mentioned already, more importantly is screws with the hitboxes making you harder to hit.
2019-03-29 16:03
Was it because f0rest started doing it first? I remember elemeNt he referred it to it as the forest walk. PS:I still suck hitting people with duck jump xd
2019-03-29 16:05
I think it's not 100% silent Nice tactic btw., when I first saw it, I started to use it too
2019-03-29 16:13
Partially silent (it "skips" half of your steps or so), also the movement looks retarded and annoying af from the perspective of your enemy.
2019-03-29 16:21
looks sexy from your POV tho
