Notre très chère Dame
 |
France SpooceCooke
it was called "La Flêche", rebuilt by Violet-le-Duc, greatest architect of his time 200 years ago... now it's just nothing... as the cathedral held with a massive wooden structure, the flames cannot be extinguished and Notre Dame will very likely fall. I've been there just like every proud frenchman and now it is gone. Sad day for France

No french soldier died in afghanistan in 2018, Press X to doubt
2019-04-15 20:26
where did he say his cousin was a soldier?
2019-04-16 00:05
"for this country". For western interests and power in the middle east you mean ? Blame your educational system or parents for failing to teach him that fighting for your country isnt a thing in 1st world nations and will only bring you danger first and poverty later.

fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pertes_militaires_.. The last french soldier that died in Afghanistan was in 2013. I know someone who lost his father when we were 7. Saying bullshit like this is only giving you bad karma.

I do trust wikipedia. War in Afghanistan is over since 2014. France's army totally left afghanistan since 2013. I remember seeing ceremonials on TV everytime a soldier got shot (only 89 french soldiers died during the whole war). If he said that his brother died in Mali I would have trusted him because it is plausible.

Fragile building support consisting of mainly wood. Strange these kind of accidents don't happen more often on these elder buildings tbh. So sad nonetheless. I'm glad I was lucky to visit it a few years back

We'll build it again mon pote, it's gonna be ok. No one is dead and funding the reconstruction should not be a problem, but it might impact tourism in Paris for sure.

2019-04-15 21:50
tell me, how would you prevent this? since theres a big chance that this is criminal, how would you?
2019-04-15 22:04
I don't know how to prevent this. Better security, maybe? I'm not an expert. I do know that many important buildings are very lax with their security and if you really want to do something, most times you can... But I can't know. But I also know is that it stood for a very long time and it's not a good look to have this happen now. We have the means to prevent it.
2019-04-15 22:10
security ? its made by humans controling your backpack and thats it, you can always have a lighter and it starts like this. easy to speak, harder to act
2019-04-15 22:08
Excuses.

Was probably KennyS dropping one of his cigarettes on the roof... No but in all seriousness I really hope this was not an act of terrorism.
2019-04-15 21:43
I really hope it was. I'd rather it was intentional than people just being that stupid. It's a really bad sign.

If it was an accident then for sure that's really bad. But it would be really tragic for someone to think they have the right to destroy a historic building that has meaning to the French.
2019-04-15 22:01
Yeah but people have always and will for a long, long time if not ever always do absurdly destructive things, but as a society, to allow such a landmark to crumble by accident...? Who the fuck burns down Notre Dame by accident? It's ludicrous to think how many retards are doing what they shouldn't.

I guess that's what happens when you have a huge building made of wood. I would guess all it would have taken would have been a worker to drop lit cigarette and it set the place alight. Just look at what happened in the Great Fire of London, which decimated a city that was built 400 years after the Notre Dame. I do agree that it would be really retarded if it was an accident or not.
2019-04-15 22:07
And they don't have a fucking plan or water everywhere?

it spread at an incredible speed, but the real problem was the height of the building, the brunt of the fire being on the roof there are only so many firetrucks that can reach that high... and that's extremely concerning for the rest of the monuments around. If it happens again, they need to be prepared
