1, the wage gap exists, after multi variable analysis it shrinks the wage gap to about a 4% difference, this accounts for choice of education, hours worked, sick days etc. The second question any educated person would ask is this, -why- are women making these 'choices' and this is where liberals have a problem, societal pressure could be a pretty big factor here, and if that's the case (which it most likely is, the nature vs nurture debate is pretty much settled by now) we have a problem of inequality.
2. 'White people shouldn't have to compensate for shit their ancestors did'
While I can see what you're talking about, stuff like affirmative action, social wellfare and whatnot can seem unfair. Look, Jim crow law ended in 1965, in reality, minorities today are still very much effected by it, and in order to break the cycle of ghettoization where minorities make up the biggest proportion, these things are extremely important.
