Exiled Turk, Said Nursi RH

scontent.fbki2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/.. Said Nursi was exiled by the government. He was forbidden outside contact and made to live a harsh and lonely life in the mountains. He was at the time, an old man, weakening every day. But being a believer, he insisted to view every hardship as a wise plan from Allah from which he would most certainly benefit. Loneliness is one of the hardest trials a person can face. But he writes one of the most beautiful passages you'll ever read: "I have been very lonely for the last 3 months. At most, a visitor drops by once every 15 or 20 days. Otherwise, I am alone. In addition, it has been 20 days since the mountaineers left the area. At this time of night in these forsaken mountains, silent and amidst the tree’s sorrowful sounds, I find myself immersed in five sorts of loneliness. Being old, I am separated from most of my contemporaries, friends, and relatives who have gone to the hereafter and left me in a most wretched isolation. This loneliness makes me feel a second type of separation coming from the disappearance of most creatures with which I feel a connection, such as the past spring. This loneliness arouses yet another feeling, that of separation caused by being far from my hometown and relatives. In addition to these, the mountains’ dark nightscape makes me feel a fourth kind of separation. Lastly, I have seen my soul in complete separation during its journey to eternity from this guest-house the world. I exclaimed all of a sudden “Glory be to God!” Wondering how I could endure such separations. In the meantime, I felt my heart groan out this poem: O Lord, I am a stranger, I am lonely and weak, Impotent, old and ill, and I have no choices at all; O Allah, I beg Your mercy, ask Your forgiveness, And I cry for help from Your Throne of Grace! At just that point belief's light, the Quran’s effusive grace, and the All-Merciful favor came to my aid and changed five kinds of separation into five circles of warm companionship. As I recited: “Allah is sufficient for us; and excellent Guardian is He (3:173), my heart recited: “If they turn their backs, say: ‘Allah is enough for me. There is no god but He. In Him I have put my trust. He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne” (9:129).

We dont worship ataturk, we RESPECT him and commemorate for being a war hero and founder of Turkish republic. You maybe worshipping people but i am capable of understanding the difference between humans and divine beings.
2019-04-19 17:26
I don't mean you literally pray to him like a God, but you believe he is all that is good and has no wrongs whatsoever, like a divine being. And any criticism pointed towards him is never the truth and just propaganda.

Ataturk did hid best within the circumstances of the day. Ottoman Empire was dead and Ataturk was realist enough to lead us to a new way instead of forcing to ressurrect the dead empire. It was an Era of nationalism and nation-states throughout the world, not religious monarchies any more. And Ataturk told us to follow social, scientific, economic advancements of the West. If we had followed the likes of said nursi, we would definitely end up as another Afghanistan.
2019-04-19 18:51
Afghanistan is a whole new can of beans because of the separation of British colonial states and Ottoman were never really under anyone's rule apart from like a few years or months after world war I different from Afghanistan and India which has been colonized for roughly 200 years at that point in time. This is my problem with you people, you can never acknowledge there is good in other people other than Ataturk and always view them in a negative light. As if Said Nursi wasn't a master of any of those discipline, in fact Said Nursi understood better than Kamal Ataturk.

Ataturk wasn’t good or bad. He was a pragmatist statesman. He was knowledgable enough to build a country from scratch. Why do we even compare ataturk to him? It doesn’t even make sense. Was said nursi the alternative to ataturk really? Even if he was, what could a kurdish religious cult leader offer to turkey? More religious fundamentalism? Let’s face it, islam wasn’t living its golden years and becoming even more islamist wasn’t gonna be helping us at the time. That being said, nursi had his own twisted version of islam; interpreted quran verses for his own agenda. If he could find the right circumstances he would even declare himself a prophet. His books tell about his miracles and shit like that. In islam, miracles only happen to prophets. In my book, This guy is only another one who used islam to seek followers and power.
