Does playing on a better monitor improve your reaction time? And if so, how much?

It doesn’t change your reaction time, but it changes you skill a lot

Of course it does improve reaction since you will see the enemy faster 60 hz peeks can sometimes be like teleporting

It doesn't change your skill either, but it allows you to improve more because the skill ceiling is raised when everything is smoother.

Game is more smooth. It has nothing to do with your personal reaction time.

Well logically if you think about a strafing enemy behind a corner will appear a couple of milliseconds sooner on a 144hz than 60, also dependent on GPU. So yes, but marginally The higher up you go the less it even matter

Thats what i thought...I know my reaction time wont suddenly improve)) But the outcome could, because I see the enemy "sooner" as you said...

When I went from 60 to 144hz it was a gamechanger for me for sure. You'll notice the difference right away.

Its not that hz makes you see the enemy sooner exactly, if anything the response time of the monitor controls that. So on a 60hz 1ms monitor you would see a shoulder peak much faster than a 144hz 6ms monitor. The difference is how vivid and smooth the animations appear on your screen. Higher hz makes it easier for eyetracking targets and provides visual clarity for fast paced situations since it decreases blur. 60hz is actually painful to play on for me after upgrading like HOLY FUCK it makes a difference, youll feel like youre on another level

I was assuming both hypothetical monitors had the same response time and input lag (two separate things, you have to manually look up input lag as manufacturers only tell you response time) So if they have the same response times, then yes you technically will see enemies sooner on a higher refresh rate, but so ignsificant that it does not matter rly. But like you said the difference is in the fluidity, you don’t buy a 144 for the reaction time difference xD

+1 agreed. Funny how people get 144hz so they can “see enemies faster” but they still get shoulder peaked by russians with 200 ping LMAO

Just get 144hz if you are on budget/dont take cs seriously. Get 240hz if you have the money/are serious for cs.
2019-04-22 17:02
except most LAN competitions will have 144hz monitors, so you ought to get a 144 one anyway because it'll be the most 'realistic' one

You mean local LANS?? Then yes you are right. But all tier3+ LAN events have 240hz if Im right.
2019-04-22 17:35
It just makes your reaction accurate.

60 -> 144 = yes 144 -> 240 = no

wrong, simply wrong!
2019-04-22 18:10
changed from 60 to 144, now i can see more SMOOTH when someone peeks me so ofc it not improves your reaction time but because you see it smoother you can kill easier

I think that a 2073600hz monitor is way too much bro, relax.
2019-04-22 17:29
Yes. Though not technically the reaction, but the ability to react. To hit a (proper) mini step peaking player on 60Hz is almost impossible. On 240 its way easier. Also the general experience is far better,

It's not as much about you seeing the enemy faster (faster reaction times) but more about how the smoothness of the game. Your aim will feel smoother and you can get better faster than you would on a 60 hz panel
