any significant fps increase without oc?

WTF MENS, ofc there is gonna be a massive increase. Do you have a gpu that wont bottleneck though?
2019-04-23 17:22
i play lowest settings. the thing is people always say single thread performance is most important and the i7 6700k base clock is just 0.3ghz higher.

tbh im not too sure about that but i do know that the extra cores and better architecture does help a lot
2019-04-23 17:25
isnt it the same architecture?

oh yeah. either way though should be better. you can use userbenchmark to see how much more though with fps's, scores, and comparisons and stuff

you should really never use userbenchmark for anything. But yeah, 6700k will be a step up, mostly because more threads and oc potential
2019-04-23 18:04
do you have z370? if not just get i7 6700 as it's basically the same.
2019-04-23 17:47
it costs basically the same, i prefer higher clock speed for 30-40 euro

z370? tf mens it's skylake not coffee
2019-04-23 18:03
sorry i meant z170
2019-04-23 18:05
You'll get twice as much fps at same clock speeds without overclocking.
2019-04-23 17:23
i3 has hyperthreading
2019-04-23 17:25
Good point, ~75%+ more fps at same clocks then.
2019-04-23 17:28

cpu-world.com/Compare/492/Intel_Core_i3_.. huge difference in games like cs
2019-04-23 17:27
in the benchmarks i only see 15% increase on average.
2019-04-23 17:30
Might not be worth then.
2019-04-23 17:32
yeah thats what i thought too.
2019-04-23 17:35
If is only for cs, and it does't bottleneck with your current graphics card on other games, is not worth it. Unless you do other tasks that having the extra stuff gets more performance, i would just keep the i3.

difference should be way bigger, specially in games like cs that likes cpu cores and upcoming big games that take advantage of more cores
2019-04-23 17:36
whats your fps with i3 6100
2019-04-23 17:35
around 200, but drops to 120 a lot lately. im trying to get +200 stable

I’m not entirely sure why this is even a question. You have a dual core 4 thread cpu, of course you’re going to see significantly better performance with a quad core 8 thread cpu without having to OC. But why upgrade to a four year old cpu when you can get an i5 8400 that’s just as good as as the i7 6700k? The i5 is less expensive and can utilize faster ram. You also don’t have to OC since Intel has its turbo boost technology.
2019-04-23 17:36
it costs the same if you add mobo. this way i can just remove old cpu and add new. im thinking about building a new pc in couple years anyways. its threads vs 4 cores and its cs. not sure if this will make a difference.

They’re same LGA1151 socket my guy, so you wouldn’t need a new mobo. Also more cores = better performance with CS
2019-04-23 17:55
skylake mobo and coffee lake doesnt work

Oh ok I didn’t realize the architecture was logically different my bad.

This seems like benchmark similar to comparison you're making. youtube.com/watch?v=LN6b9CFf1JI

thanks this helps a lot i think you were right. looks like about 50-70%

not in cs but outside cs there will be a massive difference
2019-04-23 17:41
depends on your gpu ofc if your i3 isnt enough to load your gpu on 99% then youll get fps increase for sure, otherwise not
2019-04-23 17:42
lowest settings
2019-04-23 17:45
?? gpu - graphics card
2019-04-23 17:51
rx460 xd
2019-04-23 17:53
i think you wont notice a big difference, maybe 15 fps
2019-04-23 18:08
i dont think so. rx 460 doesnt bottleneck my pc
2019-04-23 18:44
why go for the 6700k and not a newer i7, if you're gonna upgrade?
2019-04-23 17:50
i can just put it in mobo and im good to go. i will build from scratch in 2-3 years
2019-04-23 17:53
Oh ok then, performance will be extremely better, don't think you need to oc tbh.

ofc...you have two times the physical cores in 6700k and csgo depends on really good cpu...and you can even oc 6700k to be much faster even without beefy cooler

ofc, the performance increase will be massive, 6100 is a dual-core with no turbo, while the 6700k is overclockable (if you have z-chipset mobo) 4 core with 4,2ghz turbo, that's an enormous increase.
2019-04-23 17:56
are you planning to upgrade to a 6th generation intel? don't do it, they're very outdated by now, go for a 8600k at least.
