Really hard to answer this, but out of the recent ones I have listened to my favorite was One of us is the killer by I Dillinger Escape Plan (RIP), it's a math rock/hardcore album released in 2013.

never been a fan of him, he makes music that is just too much proggy for my tastes ;( i heard that he's a great artist though
2019-04-24 21:31
hes mostly proggy in his devin townsend "project", he has several types of metal. The latest one is a solo, without much prog. I like how artistic, original and bold with including out of the box sounds and blends. I really flow with it, and he went full on experimental with this new one, digging it.

Out of all the albums I have listened to my favorite band was Between The Buried And Me (Proggresive Technical Death Metal), but if i had to pick a single album, it would probably be I Am>I Was by 21 Savage, it's just a really fun album to listen to front to back

depends on the song, if you want to get in to the band i can suggest some songs that you could enjoy. Condemned to the gallows is a good starting point, or Coma machine, they're quite accesible compared to the others stuff. Maybe the whole Coma ecliptic album that is a lot more prog rock than death metal.

i know architects, love the band, especially the single "broken cross", great deathcore/metalcore, the singer is amazing, happy that you could see them live, im really happy that you enjoyed them, be sure to listen to coma ecliptic, automata 1/2 and if you're feeling adventurous listen to colors (its their masterpiece) but its a lot more technical death metal than prog.

there is simply no way you can listen music without playing couple songs more times, so i bet you couldnt listen to 120 albums in this year while its 24.4, its like 1.2 albums per day

you can listen to 2 albums (or 1 two times) in day easily. Its not like albums last 4 hours (._.') and the good thing about music is that you can listen to it while doing other stuff.

When it comes to extreme metal, i guess things i can recommend are something you already heard before, if you enjoy BTBAM, you will love Opeth but probably you know them, Behemoth is a great band, at least their last 2 albums are great for my taste, aslo Watain Lawless Darkness, a good black metal album, there is more but i can't remember anything now.

I can recommend a bunch of things, i'm glad you like instrumental music. Nick Johnston - Remarkably human Great melodic album, i love it, i highly recommend it, he droped new album which is also quite good but start with this one, here one song from the album, so melodic and good. youtube.com/watch?v=p0EBmPvDeGA Gentle Gaint - Octopus They are prog rock band from 70s and they are great as hell, start with this album as i think it's easier to get into. youtube.com/watch?v=pI6PIksrSGA Salamander - The Ten Commandments They are very obscure and very underrated, every song on the album is fucking great, they are prog rock band from 70s too, i think this is their one and only album, it's great. youtube.com/watch?v=RpgsEudjUIM youtube.com/watch?v=85jKtqZu3sc The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed Just pure masterpiece, nothing else to add, really, it's late 60s proto-prog record. youtube.com/watch?v=kPr8wIAiuzY youtube.com/watch?v=nOzKBCG_t_E

speaking of drone and post rock, go listen to silent whale becomes a dream - requem, one of the first post rock albums i listened to and i loved it
2019-04-24 21:51
I might do it, I haven't listened to post-rock for ages. It was getting too repetitive, the very reason why I started to love post-rock was its originality, which became way too predictable over time, most bands were just regurgitating the same crescendo structure There were too many copycats in the scene and I ended up listening to the same 10 old albums that were my introduction to the genre

i agree but i'm not primarily listening to post rock so it's not boring for me yet, but is drone any different? please recommend some drone albums so i could make my own mind on them. also listen to lief sjostrom - imposible parade if youre losing hope in post rock as this is mixing neo classical music with post rock, and jambinai - difference (post rock with classical japanese instruments)
2019-04-24 22:01
Do you mean drone in general or drone metal? I usually listen to it when I'm in the mood, same for ambient (technically some of the albums could be considered ambient), I would say Boris - flood (or Feedbacker for metal-drone) Windy & Carl - Drawing of Sound Stars of the Lid - The Tired Sounds Of I briefly listened to those; the first guy didn't really convince me, it's true, it's not your typical crescendo stuff (ambient, calm, higher, climax and so on) but I didn't find it particularly engaging, although it sounds quite nice The second band is much more interesting, I think you meant korean instruments, as they're korean no? I can clearly hear a haegeum, honestly this sounds more original because it blends with their traditional music, and I usually love these type of things, I like to listen to traditional music of different countries or at least music influenced by it, although it's hard to find korean artists that aren't playing kpop (mainly because the latter its fucking everywhere)

Beirut _ Gulag Orkestar!!!! Daughter - Not to disappear The Bones of J.R. Jones - spirits Furnace Fantastic Negrito- The last days of oakland Graveyard- Hisingen Blues Mac Miller- Swimming superorganism-Superorganism All of these are very different from each other so i recommend you give them all a chance even if you dont like some. Posty has some good ones in those albums imo. Stuff like broken whiskey glass, feeling whitney or otherside. I like Lorde because she's very chill, pretty good voice too

I listened to 80 rap albums, mostly from early 80s to early 2000s, in the last month to find the songs I like best and make a good playlist for me. Have like 320 songs in my playlist now and a couple dozens albums left. By "in the last month" I mean I listened to 75 in a few days and the other 5 a week later haha. That was an enjoyable grind for friends of oldschool rap.
