So lemme get this straight, they kick karrigan an arguably more experienced igl and a much better player than Neo. Are the team/management braindead or smth?

same story repeats itself, a lot of teams wanted to improve by kicking a player but instead they went down, from Envyus kicking kio for Deb1L and up

But kicking kio made sense? Like he wasn't practicing, etc. I mean kicking karrigan was not gonna work unless they got gla1ve or fallen. I guess theyre desperate lol.

-msl was hilarious given they just won a DH Masters, but removing Zeus made sense as it was before the coaching rule change and Starix was igl'ing for them from the coach pos.

He is more experienced as igl...
2019-05-16 13:48
No they kicked him because NiKo wanted to be igl but now they saw that it wont work and they need igl again.

On the short term id did, somehow they were braindead enough to think NiKo could keep on using the surprise of different strats than Karrigan to counter anti-strats, which was hella important to go 0-2 to 3-2.. It was clear from the start they needed a good IGL on the long term

Pointless assumption. We need more matches to get straight opinion about it. + NiP was never as good after fifflaren was kicked.

Yes they are gambling with this move thats the issue, top teams don't take risks on unproven players.

Also agree on that, theres a saying in portuguese "quem não arrisca não petisca" which means, if you dont take your chance you may be losing an opportunitty, but yes you are also right, may play safer for a proven player
2019-05-16 15:14
The thing is they lost trust in Karrigan like Astralis did. But you're right, in the end it would probably have been better to keep karrigan.

Dont get me wrong, I think if they got another top tier igl like gla1ve or fallen, maybe even MSL, it would make sense and it wasn't working with karrigan anymore, but getting neo just seems to be a downgrade.

I know silvers on HLTV/Reddit like to talk shit about MSL, but this guy is a solid IGL. He won DH Masters with North, beating prime Astralis twice and winning the MVP. Now that Optic picked him up, they're starting to look like a solid team as well.

Everyone seems to forget how Karrigan was falling apart and calling terribly in his last few tournaments. Would I have recommended a washed up polish legend? No, but at the time it was right to kick Karrygan

Did you forget V4? Cologne, Eleague premier 2018, New York 2018, first 2 matches at faceit. Stockholm, all of those were Karrigan. Niko won Epicenter 2018, Niko wasn't great at calling, but Karrigan was calling pathetically at the end, hes calling fine now but he wasn't then

His star players underperformed and most likely lost hope. He's doing fine in Mouz, always was.

Karrigan was stated that he lost confidence in his calling and made bad calls, Mouz he doesn't have the baggage of boston and other failed tournaments on his back. So he is calling like he used to.

Oh "technically" it doesn't, but when you join a new team with completely new players. Their is nothing preexisting which can be hard but also freeing. In FaZe, his failures hurt him every time something failed, like the grand slam, or eleague major. They gave him a lot of chances to continue, but he lost faith in himself and eventually the team lost faith in him.
2019-05-16 15:08
NEO is on trial period, they test if he can be any good. They trying to find some proper IGL to make the team work again, and i dont think its bad idea to give neo a try. He was good when VP was succesfull.

But this is not a team of rookies, if they keep trialing players every 2-3 months, it's unlikely they can win anything.

???? bro you got some issues to work out
2019-05-16 18:39
What else they can do ? their shit wasnt obviously working so they kicked karrigan (which might been bad idea idk), but either way they need now find some working solution. There are not really any good IGL:s available, neo might be actually good idea he have lots of experience and know what it takes to succes.

imo going from karrigan to neo is quite a downgrade.
2019-05-16 18:40
Karrigan was definitely good in start, but something was not working anymore. So i dont really talk about if neo would be better than karrigan, but as karrigan is already kicked times ago, in this situation trying neo could be actually good idea. (As there is not really better options)
