Finally a first real tier 1 tourney win. But Liquid gotta prove themselves at EPL with Astralis there. Only then can we truly rejoice. Hats off to Ence for a great final.

Not top 10 teams. Good tourney, but not other top 5 teams, regardless if it was their own fault for skipping, does dampen the overall imapct of it just a bit. Still happy for them though. Sydeny tier 1.5 imo.

Cant you read, it clearly says tier1 tournament

They don't have to prove shit. If Blastralis isn't going to attend tournaments, Liquid can't be faulted for that. Also IEM Sydney was a tier 1 tourney.

Sydney wasnt tier1

7/10 of the top 10 teams at the time in attendance fk off. It was tier 1. Had that what I said above, had above 200k prize pot, intel grand slam tournament and yearly tournament with good crowd and hype factor. It's tier 1

From top5 teams there were only one, liquid. Faze wasnt there since niko wasnt there. I like to think that tier1 tournament is only the one where atleast most of the best teams are.

IEM Sydney had a great format, is an IGS tournament, had 7/10 of the top 10 teams attending, is a well-respected tournament by a well-respected TO, is considered a "Premier tournament" by Liquipedia standards, and is therefore a tier 1 tournament.

Only one top5 team so not tier1. This is not even a discussion.

Does that matter? NaVi being there would literally not matter, Liquid has beaten NaVi in every single match since 2018 except for when they had Zews, a coach, standing in. Astralis just doesn't even attend tournaments anymore cause they are stupid. ENCE didn't get invited which I agree they should have been invited, but besides that, the tournament couldn't get much harder at all for Liquid, but would still be a "tier 1" tournament by everyone.

I see your point. Though even if it was the other teams' fault for skipping Sydeny, objectively, it can't be considered a TRUE tier 1 event. IMO it was 1.5, as it had good amount of top 10.

They don't have to prove themselves against Astralis, the danes already gave away their #1 spot after the major

Well the fact of the matter is they are going to be at ECS where Liquid will not be (because MIBR is only amazing in online matches and honestly I feel like neither ECS nor EPL should be online but that would be difficult to manage I know), and they might have a chance to win that and climb right back to #1. So Liquid will have to prove themselves at either Cologne after they inevitably win the GG.Bet Cologne Invitational or EPL to really settle in to that spot. But the fact that they've won two consecutive big tournaments like this, and this one against ENCE? It looks good for Liquid, that's for sure.
