Hey I might be far left, but I dont see a problem with having the right to bar arms and your kinda doing the same thing of picking out random clips to prove your point

I'm not really anti guns btw, I have shot a few during bird hunting and target shooting. But I do not believe that open carry and more guns in general lead to a safer society, the opposite actually.
2019-06-13 00:43
But statistics disagree with you

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defensive_gun_us.. Look under Estimate of frequency I can't find a source talking about the number of crimes involving a gun rn cuz im on mobile, but the number is around 300,000 from 2017 That means there's an abundance of crimes stopped with guns over the number committed. That means it makes it safer.

Harvard study disagrees sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0.. Also under "Estimate of frequency" alot of it is about the Gary Kleck and Marc Gertz 1999 study which is pro gun research and heavily biased... The wiki even states that. bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/fv9311.pdf "In 2007-11, less than 1% of victims in all nonfatal violent crimes reported using a firearm to defend themselves during the incident."
2019-06-13 01:12
The Harvard study also has a lot of bias. Even if the Harvard one is correct, 4/5 guns used in crimes are illegally purchased so you would still see an increase in crime
2019-06-13 01:12
Harvard biased omegalul, LEFTIST EDUCATION REEEEE
2019-06-13 01:48
It is biased tho
2019-06-13 01:51
It seems biased to you because left leaning ideas are actually based in facts and not feelings
2019-06-13 01:51
The people doing the study admitted to having bias you mong
2019-06-13 01:52
Want to give me a source on that my boi. Not from Breitbart, the daily wire ect ect

2019-06-13 02:17
If more guns benefited society, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Just look at the state of America's violence compared to other first world countries it says enough. I don't believe in the right to bare arms but I do believe in stronger restrictions

Regardless of the defence statistics A lot of people are still dying in shootings. If nobody has guns, there will be less worse crime. Guns don't always make more crime, they just make it FAR worse. I just think we need training to get a gun license, like you would to get a car. I hope you understand that the whole 'more guns = safer' movement is pushed by the NRA to sell more guns for their profit. And Trump is marketing that by pushing teachers to have guns.
2019-06-13 01:11
I don't support the NRA. I support gun rights for a couple reasons 1. It makes the country statistically have less crime 2. It ensures rights are maintained 3. It allows for a better trained military 4. I don't trust Dems 5. Bernie is old 6. They're fun to shoot
2019-06-13 01:14
I completely understand the attraction to guns, but I just believe one should have to undergo some training to get their licence. Even though it may have less crime, the crime is far worse - I would genuinely be impressed if somebody stabbed 20 school children with a knife
2019-06-13 01:24
I'm living in Hong Kong right now, and a couple decades ago, somebody walked into a kindergarten and stabbed some 50 kids and killed his sister who worked there.

Anne Anne kindergarten stabbings had 6 deaths and 38 non fatal injuries. It's harder to kill with knives, guns are deadlier.
2019-06-13 01:34
Most gun wounds don't kill either. The la shooting had some 400 people shot and some 50 died

But compare Anne Anne to sandy hook, both directed at small children but one with guns and the other with knives.
2019-06-13 01:46
I'm not saying that we should ignore gun deaths, I think the best system would be a school class on safe gun usage. I definitely don't think the solution is gun control
2019-06-13 01:49
1. False 2. No one is saying take all guns, the point is to make it so only reasonably sane people can have guns 3. Ordinary Citizens aren't the military. They can get plenty of training once they enter the military given how many wasted billions we spend on it each year 4. That's just a dumb point 5. Most politicians are old, another idiotic point 6. Maybe so, but that's not an excuse for kids to die in schools And finally an added 7th point you are extremely biased in your views. If you look at it from the perspective of those who have suffered from these tragedies you would be more reasonable
2019-06-13 05:11
I agree with that, even if I personally disagreed with that, stats deny that

Elaborate? Do you mean stats deny that more guns = more deaths? Because from what I've seen more guns = more deaths.
2019-06-13 01:49
Ya that'd what I mean, more guns in an area almost always increas the amount of deaths in that area

2019-06-13 00:36
The old days of Texas didn’t have rifles like we do today. Also they real old west was a third world country, little to no police power, shoutouts in the streets (this was seen as normal), and fights in bars

Im pro gun, however we do need to put some form of gun control but absolutely no gun bans. Universal background checks no matter how extreme is how I would want things to be handled. Also if someone is trying to get a gun, if they are found to have a criminal or mental issue history then they are automatically blacklisted and forbidden to own guns.

I was with you until the end. I’d say if you’ve committed a violent felony then sure blacklist. Mental health is going to be hard because where do you draw the line. I think there should be long wait times. That way if someone is having a bad day/week/month they can’t just go into a store and come out with a semi automatic rifle with a 30 round magazines and buy out all the ammo at the next store. Make first time gun buyers wait 2-4 weeks, allow them to cancel their order at any time without financial penalty. Gives mentally ill people time to rethink.

More stabbings and assaults with blunt objects, as seen in the UK after their guns were taken away. If someone wants to kill you, they will kill you they don't need a gun.
