liquid are 3/3 on the map. 16-13 16-13 16-11. G2 are 1/2. 16-3 and 13-16. from going 2-0 > 2-2 in maps in a bo5 is going to have a mental effect. liquid would have gotten crushed by the pressure by the fans and their own choke past.

if you say that then you should also acknowledge the possibility that Twistzz lands his first bullets on the last guy and kills him instead of on his second burst

i understand that but no one would call luck if he'd hit his first couple of bullets which is a good possibility all i'm saying is that he won them cleanly because he had two 1v1 duels and knew where both players were if he were to flick and kill the last guy then yes, I'd say that would be lucky

1 HP into OT is really lucky. He also had great duels, but overall, if for instance a nade would damage him for 1 HP the player last player would kill him and we would go to Vertigo. Also, Stewie had an amazing flick which was sooo lucky on Dust2... clips.twitch.tv/AffluentPeppyCattleBudBl.. I mean that isnt skills and just pure luck... If G2 won that round, I am 99% sure they would have won the game. TLDR: It could be 3-1 For G2 but Liquid were lucky

1, 10, 20 or even 50 HP would not change much at this level. All these players can make 3-4 frags without losing a single HP.
2019-06-25 14:18
Yep that's also true, i am just implying that surviving specifically on 1HP is lucky
2019-06-25 16:24
What-ifs are fun to speculate on, but Liquid has a 75% win rate on Vertigo and G2 is closer to 45% win rate on it. Liquid would have buckled down on a map where it meant a win or lose scenario. They're comfortable on that map. Inferno and Dust2 are both more puggy and so apt to be closer anyway. The only non-puggy map Liquid did poorly on was Nuke, which is not exactly one of their better maps anyway. I had zero fear Liquid would lose Vertigo if it went to that. Liquid knew they had it in their back pocket after winning Train. tldr; good match regardless, but lets not get over-hyped on what 'might have been'.

winrates don't mean anything, like I said, they're just "What-ifs", it didn't happen and winrates don't mean anything, especially on Vertigo, which has not been played a lot by both teams
2019-06-25 03:18
Okay. Fair enough. Maybe G2 would have had a chance on Vertigo. I think Liquid would have won it, but I won't argue too strongly. Maybe the two teams will meet again and we'll see.

2019-06-25 11:11
Vertigo is NOT Liquids perma-ban. They have a 75% win rate on it. Or, did you miss this last weekend where they played Astralis on it and beat them? If it were a perma-ban they wouldn't have left it in, would they? They also beat Hellraisers on it last weekend, and actually picked it against MiBR as the 3rd map. perma-ban? Really?

Big brain finn strawmanning arguments. What's with these condescending shithead Finns on HLTV lately? They were so tame and humble, and now so passive aggressive like holy shit ever since ENCE won stuff they've turned into Brazilian tier. Anyways, Liquid won, the NA hate in this thread is hilariously unjustified cause EU upset NA won--again. His quoting literally has 0 to do with your argument. I have 100% confidence that even if G2 did close it out to Vertigo, Liquid would've wiped them on it. It's just not a map I can see someone especially like kennyS to perform on, and he's been one of the players stepping back up on G2, which means there goes literally half of their G2's firepower. The conclusion, is that NA haters are in denial that Liquid had it in the bag with Vertigo at the end anyways. E: Overpass's 16-3 scoreline was undoubtedly the point where Liquid won this. I was confident even while G2 were rolling Liquid on that stretch on Inferno that Liquid would somehow close it out within 1-2 OT's, and they did. Dunno what's up with Liquid/Stewie hitting crucial game closing shots lately, but it's apparently a thing.
2019-06-25 15:10
+1 Which was sort of my point to begin with. Vertigo is not a puggy map. You have to really know the spots and have your strategy and tactics on point. It's the very fact that Dust2 and Inferno are so well known that matches are often close. The meta is still being developed on Vertigo and Liquid is more less right there on it. That's how I felt with Overpass too. At that point Liquid could roll the dice but ultimately they had 2 maps to play with before getting to Vertigo.
2019-06-25 15:31
I was mainly banking on the fact that there's no way kennyS would be a player whose style compliments vertigo. There's just too much verticality involved compared to all the maps. Only one even somewhat similar is Nuke, and even then it's not really the same because of how much more exposed Vertigo is; Nuke could give a sniper confidence in the coverage you get from holding closed angles, but on Vertigo you're exposed from everywhere at all times. I can see G2 maybe pushing Liquid around on Vertigo for the first few rounds, but I can easily see that affair going something like 16-7 for Liquid easily. Liquid is so confident on Vert that they literally were running a double AWP setup when 99% of teams refuse to have even one sniper on Vertigo sometimes. Says something about their adaptability as they're still one of the few teams incorporating not only the AUG, but the SG. Post AUG nerf we'll see I suppose but in the end, even after Inferno's rumble if G2 passed, guaranteed they would not succeed against Liquid on Vertigo. It's just not possible, and these fools commenting otherwise clearly have 0 knowledge about how these teams play. I mean if anything, it's funny cause all the NA haters are bitching like Liquid wouldn't have, finished G2 off on Vertigo anyways, but that's the case is they're haters; they don't know shit about Liquid's playstyle on Vertigo so what would these clowns know about who would win lmfao.
2019-06-25 15:39
"Vertigo you're exposed from everywhere at all times." I didn't think of that, but it makes sense "16-7 for Liquid " Agreed. G2 did a good job. Better than I expected, but the level of NA hate that's come out in the last couple of weeks since they became #1 I didn't expect. After all, they've been hanging around as #2 for quite a while.
2019-06-25 15:44
Exposure while AWPing is something that's extremely overlooked. People just see the AWP and think point shoot gun, but it's more than that when it comes to literally any high ranked play. Vertigo is harder to AWP on not only because your angles are open, but also because it's so CQB; you have very little time to readjust safely after whiffing an opening shot, so it leads to an extremely punishable fast play to open if a sniper misses an entry or the first shot on T's. Oh people are fuckin FURIOUS that NA's at the top (I love it, the big boy EU circlejerk is so upset, yet they've been stating they were soooo much more humble for years lmfao?); of course according to everyone in EU they didn't earn it, but they beat everyone consistently to get to where they won the last two so that's retarded thinking at best. As you said, Liquid has been chilling at #2, so people acting all surprised and upset when they finally reached #1 just goes to show how stupid people on HLTV can truly be. And yeah, I'm not saying G2 played like shit at all; they definitely got to an extremely far run in the tourney considering they were literal bricks for a year--for this result to strike out of nowhere that's a surprise for anyone I'm sure. However, they just wouldn't close it out against Liquid; it's just not smart thinking to say they would and there's 0 rational behind it.
2019-06-25 15:49
+1 Agree with everything you said. There's more tournaments soon to start. I'm guessing ENCE and Vitality will be motivated. We'll see how Liquid and G2 fair. I'm guessing Liquid will have a letdown in Cologne, but hopefully not. :)
2019-06-25 16:25
Yeah, honestly as much as I want to believe, I feel like Liquid is that team that no matter how well they're doing, they still have that signature choking issue. I really hope it's gone for good this time around though, Astralis got rid of theirs eventually, so now it's Liquid's turn to unchain themselves. I wanna see some crazy shit start coming out of Liquid so they stay on top tbh.
2019-06-25 17:22
+1. I agree. I agree with something Nitro said last week, though: The game has evolved to the point where the top 5 or 6 can win any tournament. It's that close among them.
2019-06-25 17:40
Interesting. I was definitely browsing through the stats list while bored during my IT lecture today an hour ago and was looking at the total maps played. It's crazy cause if you start off at all maps on 2015, the amount of maps played is literally nearly -400 than the amount of maps total played these days. Pros are literally playing 400+ more maps than they were before these days, it's an insane thought to think about but that's like feeding data into an RNN and watching it evolve. 400+ map average is a lot of time to evolve everything, and he's definitely right; the core is at a point where everyone is literally fighting for the top now that Astralis are in slumpo mode for some reason. Going to be interesting to watch CS unfold these days...
2019-06-25 17:42
I'm not convinced Astralis is in a real slump. Perhaps a minor one, but nothing major. I think the other teams have caught up... or on the road to catching up.
2019-06-25 17:51
I definitely think they're slumping, but I think it'll be a quick major slump cause personally they haven't been performing up to what they usually have been. Their utility seems on point, but I feel like something internal stopped clicking for a bit. I doubt they'll be slumping within the next tourney or so though; pretty sure we'll see Astralis do a full 180 soon, and I want to see Liquid be able to contest that level of Astralis too; that would really spit the nail in the coffin to NA haters LOL.
2019-06-25 17:52
+1 Agreed. I'm just hoping Liquid can match them. They sure had Liquids number.

G2 honestly showed the first sign of REAL promise, D2 was a hard throw by G2 and they weren't able to read the T side flanks when retaking until it was too late, plus Inferno was a very tight map. But they showed some actual tactics and played very well against T2 opponents and pretty well against the current best team in the world.

bylat u americans r so dumb i don't anderstand ( clearly ruski impression) just think if 15 ranked team beat them on nuke and nearly defeated them on inferno imo both being their best maps then you should say they barely won. what if twistzz didn't won any clutch then the final map would be inferno and after straight consecutive loses liquid would choke. ALL NA should only thank twistzz if he was not that good and lucky you would be crying for a decade. gg
