Wasted spots at Cologne
France MbappeGOAT
NiP, MIBR, BIG. Meanwhile, G2 weren't invited, not even to the closed qualifier, so they had to play a fucking qualifier with 1 spot for LAN against Liquid ... And before you say "G2 were shit when the invites were given out", NiP and MIBR are 2 teams that have been fucking dreadful for a long time now and yet for some obscure reason they seem to keep getting invites.

Should of swallowed their pride and played the open qualifer if it meant that much too them.
2019-06-24 03:39
they assumed they would get invited to the closed qualifier (which should have been the case) so they were taken by surprise and couldn't make their planning work to play the open qualifier. Good enough for you ?

Shox and Kenny also are bankable names and won major, not really an argument. But mibr got invites mainly because tournament organizers give America invites and Europe invites and Europe is far more competitive than America

It's also 2 teams with a huge fanbase so i guess it's worth inviting them for some "hype" reasons
2019-06-24 03:42
yeah that's fine every once in a while but to invite them to almost every event when they are doing so bad ...

Lucas1 is toxic as his twin, but the thing is hen1 is actually a good player and lucas1 is pretty shit now. Now there’s going to be ego issues

He's actually not toxic. KNG is toxic, but the twins are pretty cool guys. They're dumb af though.

MVP should be sacrificed for G2.
2019-06-24 04:06
Nah MVP at least qualified they deserve to be here, NiP and MIBR don't.
2019-06-24 04:07
Asian qualifiers are usually wasted spots
2019-06-24 04:08
true but the only way they’re going to get better so they aren’t wasted spots is by qualifying and playing in these events.
2019-06-24 05:51
pro tip : they aren't gonna get better, no matter what.

Exactly. They have been given so many chances, but 99% of the time, they don't do well at all. The best an Asian team has done at a big event was Tyloo at IEM Sydney 2018 semi finals. I doubt we'll see something like that again.
2019-06-24 06:14
The skill gap between NA and EU used to be is what Asia is to the rest of the world currently. Give them time and they will eventually become better with more experience. Take the OCE scene, come from small beginnings with VOX and now have Grayhound up there with Chiefs and Order playing well at IEM Sydney.
2019-06-24 09:40
Newfag spotted, doesn’t know what NA was like 2013-15
2019-06-24 12:25
They shouldnt have an exclusive qualifier imo. True they should get invited so asian teams should have a chance but they should compete in a main qualifier like majors with teams from other regions so its fair. If they can’t beat the other teams in the qualifiers, they don’t deserve to be in the main event
2019-06-24 08:19
who else is gonna take down navi??
2019-06-24 04:11
NaVi will win 0 matches
2019-06-24 12:26
BIG is invited so that more tickets will sell. They also made it 2nd last year even if it was sort of fluke
2019-06-24 04:10
Mibr and nip have pretty large fanbases , thats why they were invited. They'd get more viewers

MiBR is a failing team and the team future is currently in doubt. NiP is still a solid top team that can pull close games against some of the best teams in the world. Don’t expect them to get that close to winning but they are a dark horse for sure
2019-06-24 05:59
depends what you qualify as a top team. I might be wrong but they haven't made a semi final let alone a final since they won Oakland 2017 so almost 2 years. I can't remember the last time they beat a top 5 team in a BO3. Playoffs is about the best they can hope for in a tier 1 event.

NiP has been complete and utter garbage. Did you see what they did at ECS? Looked completely hopeless having Gtr IGL apparently. Looked like they wanted to leave that event as fast as possible.

well liquid got an invite but declined due to scheduling so they decided to play in the last qualifier, its just unlucky for G2 since they likely would've qualified if Liquid didn't fk up.

Would that qualifier even exist if Liquid accepted the invite anyway?
2019-06-24 06:16
It would
2019-06-24 06:25
I know the qualifier was only for one spot but i doubt that it was for Liquid's previously declined spot because they probably got invited a long time ago.

It wasn't, they created one more spot in the closed qualifier for the loser teams which was earned by Heroic
2019-06-24 11:39
Of course it would. You have a gg.bet qualifier for every ESL One now And to be fair, mibr wouldn’t have an American invited slot if Liquid accepted the invite as NRG shown a lot more lately
2019-06-24 07:04
I don't think they have invite slots for specific regions. They just invite the teams that make them the most money, i.e. biggest fan bases and best teams
2019-06-24 08:25
Prtty sure TO got a number of slots dedicated to NA and europe + local teams (that's why mous and BiG got invited)
2019-06-24 11:54
Why would they though? I a new team from Asia was on the uprise, they'd invite them. No dedicated spots, just adapting to the scene
2019-06-24 12:05
Big got invited cause they finished 2 last year and mouz has no german player Mouz got invited for their hype and their good results

g2 fans thinking 1 run makes them a good team seems pretty delusional to me
2019-06-26 02:38
But they're good. They have a lot to prove that I agree but g2 is good and I'm not basing this on run rather i would say look at their teamplay it's pretty good small stuff that makes a team better. They need to make such runs to get invites but that doesn't change the fact that they're doing good right now. Calling them t1 would be delusional calling them good is not delusional bro.
2019-06-26 08:07
Big because they were in final last year. Nip - Big brand and delusional fans. Mibr - Well you know brazilians.
2019-06-24 08:02

One event and people yelling G2 is back and bla bla. I still remember people said exactly same when fnatic reached finals of IEM sydney and now everybody knows they are bad as fck....Give them time to prove dude. KennyS just saved them from loosing very badly each time and you know how inconsistent he is. He isnt guardian.
2019-06-24 11:26
People aren't saying that G2 is back People are saying that KennyS is back, and that Shox delivered a good game as well, whereas he's been sucking for years
2019-06-24 11:59
+1 agree on nip and big.
2019-06-24 11:30
bug invited cuz germany mibr invited cuz they had top 10 ranking nip same shit G2, unluko not get to play qualifier I guess but surely not worthy of invite to event, they had even worse results than teams like mibr and nip, at least mibr was top 4 in major and nip always had gotten top 8 finishes in big events, way better than what G2 had to offer at the time as only big event they even had gotten in lately was major where they failed to finish top 8 while mibr and nip both managed that, absolutely no reason why would G2 get invite over these teams when invites were given but ofc biased fanboy baguettes do not see anything rationally xaxaxa.
2019-06-24 11:38
i would blame team liquid, deciding not to skip last second and fucking up what would have been the chance for g2 to qualify

I hate the fact that Liquid refused the invitation to then obviously destroy everyone in a 1 spot qualifier It's so low from them You refuse the invitation ? Then just don't come But yeah Cologne without Liquid would have sucked, it's good that they made it, but they were just totally stupid to have refused this invitation in the first place
2019-06-24 11:58
Depends on what you mean by "wasted" . For ESL, all of them make sense. Big fan bases and home team.
