Rap is the most lyrical genre

Other oppa_oppa_gangnam
Ok I'm bored wanna trigger some jovik people with a fact I'm talking about lyrical rappers, not mumble rappers or trap rappers here Rap has the most complex lyrics out of any genre period, and has the most rhymes and the most complex rhymes, also it requires for you to have a VERY wide vocabulary, not to mention it has the most words put into a verse for example. Rappers also have the most amount of content in 1 song cause of this/ As if rap is the best genre, that depends on your opinion, I get it some people don't like rapping and like singing more, and yes rapping requires talent if it didn't anyone could do it.

Any genre can be lyrical. Lyrical rap is called so because it is the only sub genre that shows lyrical skill. Country can be lyrical. Swing can be lyrical. Rap is the only genre with a “lyrical” sub genre so that in itself suggests the contrary; that in fact rap is the LEAST lyrical genre overall
2019-07-11 17:23
rap was always lyrical until it became mainstream thats why lyrical rap became a subgenre in the first place

Lyrical rap was always a subgenre though. Waaay before mumble rappers etc
2019-07-11 19:00
Wrong, rap was always very lyrical as a whole except a few rappers like Nick Cannon, it only become a subgenre when mumble rappers came up and trap rappers etc, now it's a subgenre and it's still probably as big as mumble rap and trap rap but it's very underground for the most part.

Wrong. Even back when the scene was dominated by Nas, Hov, etc. we still had people making hits that were considered party tracks and therefore not lyrical.
2019-07-11 19:07
Yes those were subgenres back then, now lyrical rap is a subgenre lmao. Most party raps also had good lyrics lmao

rap is technically a sub genre of hip hop. Hip hop was about the club and the Dj. Nobody had bars really. Once emcee’s evolved, rap was born. So rap was the lyrical sub genre of hip hop. So yea rap was lyrical at first
2019-07-11 19:57
Oh man I'm sorry that couldn't be further from the truth. Hip-Hop is the culture, it doesn't have anything to do with the music, Hip-Hop was always the culture that Rap revolved around, and Rap came from the streets and it wasn't the most lyrical but then it evolved into being lyrical in a span of a few years.

"not to mention it has the most words put into a verse for example" That's quantity, not quality though.
2019-07-11 17:16
Well I did explain everything before that sentence lmao
2019-07-11 17:19
Not really, most music genres don't require rhymes, so of course rap is gonna have the most complex rhymes
2019-07-11 17:32
Yes? And rhyming is a whole different lyrical skill, don't tell me it doesn't require talent to pull off the rhymes that old Eminem did for example
2019-07-11 19:07
I'm not jovik man. I never said that rapping or wording doesn't require skills

u clearly havent listened to any rap tho
2019-07-11 17:19
My roommate has been blasting oldschool rap for the last 2.5 years, i kinda like it but it's nowhere near the lyrical quality of some metal bands. Rap mostly has the same themes like crime, drugs, police, girlfriend, gangs, guns, melancoly etc. it's really boring and it's like background music. No energy..
2019-07-11 17:23
You haven't listened to the right old school rap then, and there's new school rap that is better than old school rap that has a lot of meaning too.

Okay? And metal is feelings, girlfriend, pain, loudness, death. I can devalue any genre like that. No energy? Arguably the most energetic genre.
2019-07-11 23:03
Most energetic genre lmao ? Even folk metal is more energetic than all rap songs combined. Metal actually has the most subgenres in music so, your examples show that you don't actually know a thing about this topic. Please don't embarass yourself more dude. Metal is politics, life, myths, space, medieval times, death, religions, melancholy, historical events (like battles), gf problems (emo), afterlife, pollution, and many more which i can't think of rn. Do you know why you can't put metal as background music ? Because it's so energetic and interesting that it instantly pulls interest and doesn't work as background music. Pop and rap however, is just straightforward radio genres. Sorry dude but it's the truth. I respect rap as a genre and listen to it time to time but i don't think it's superior to metal at all.

You're examples about rap show the exact same thing about your knowledge of rap, that was my entire point, you can belittle any genre and make its topics seem weak or uninteresting. All lyric-based genres pull from all the things you mentioned theres a ton of biblical and historic references in rap. I've had metal on as background music plenty of times, that's a purely anecdotal point and has no value. Most of the rap I listen to isnt EVER on radios. If radio rap is what you're referencing in your comments then you've already lost the argument.
2019-07-12 01:25
My point is metal is a bigger genre, having more sub-genres that's a natural thing. Most rap i heard was about those topics, nobody listens to your average underground rappers dude, i'm not even talking about mumble rap.... If i count this as rap, you would be the one who lost, sorry. Lyrically metal is more interesting because it has more topics and variety, i've never seen any rap talking about scandinavian myths for example. It might exiat but it would be undergrpund as hell, if we include every underground band and compare, again you would lose. If you had metal as background music, it's probably a simple and uninteresting radio band. For me at least, i'm more into technical and complex genres. Guess what, most of the metal i listen to isn't on the radios because metal isn't mainstream currently, compared to couple decades ago.
2019-07-12 01:41
We're not talking about how hard the music is to find though, underground rap with all the things you're talking about exists as we said, but the point is we're comparing the genres, and a lot of people listen to underground rap. And topics and variety also don't mean that it's generally better lyrically.

Everything you're saying is purely anecdotal and you're completely ignoring the fact that rap lyrics are bound by rhyme schemes. The topics are equally as wide and are more impressive because the words they can use are more limited the more difficult the rhyme scheme is.
2019-07-12 06:39
You think there's no rhyme in metal ? lol ok

Rhythm and defined rhyme schemes are two varying degrees of limitations and difficulty, nice strawman attempt though.

And you've resorted to belittling which weve already touched on at the beginning. Thanks for confirming that you have no stake in the argument. Hurr durr metal is just slamming drums and screaming.
2019-07-12 07:13
LMAO yes it's just screaming, no clean singing. Great brain dude lul, but rap consists of just a beat and a guy talking. Metal has workd's most talented guitarists, keyboard players, drummers, vocalists, bassists and more.. Yeah just ignore this fact dude. You sound istupid, and you are objectively wrong here.

That's the entire point lol. Belittling the genre is ignorant, same thing you're doing to rap. The fact that that's going over your head is pathetic. Rap has the worlds most talented producers and rappers, what's your point?
2019-07-12 07:59
Dude i know what you meant, i said the same thing because you don't understand the talent gap between the genres. There are people who spent half of their lives mastering an instrument and improving themselves for decades, and there are "rappers" and "producers"... I'm sure those guitatists could rap with 1-2 weeks of practice, but i'm sure as fuck a rapper couldn't even sweep pick if you gave him a guitar and a year of time. Hopefully you got it this time. Some examples: youtu.be/t9kosVvlb_M youtu.be/c0H7SWTfNX4 youtu.be/s7dLm_OTAYw youtu.be/SImHi16cwqc Just for fun: youtu.be/8g762REJWcg
2019-07-12 09:05
Who said anything about that lmao, the whole thread is about lyrics, and no rapping is certainly not talking over a beat, and you're taking the times straight out of your ass, also I've seen metal bands try to rap and they all look so corny and use an entire flow for like the whole 4 minutes their song is.
2019-07-12 14:48

Were talking about lyricism here not the ability to play an instrument, and none of the guitarists could hold a single bar up to any of the rappers I listen to so that's an irrelevant point. Guitarists are better at guitar than rappers and rappers are better at rapping than guitarists. Rapping lyrically is a much more difficult genre because its bound by more limiting rhyme schemes

Not nearly as much rhyme nor is the quality of the music judged nearly as heavily on the difficulty of rhyme scheme nor is rhyme necessary for it to be considered metal. The weaker the rhyme the weaker the song in rap and therefore the ability to still be lyrically consistent and interesting is valued higher.

If you want to hear some really lyrical metal listen to something like Tool, it's near perfection when it comes to the construction of a song and always sends out a warning sort of message with also telling a story. It's great.
2019-07-11 23:03
If you want a really beautifully told story, check out "Be'lakor - The Smoke of Many Fires" vocals are bit on the harsh side but if that's not a problem i think you might enjoy it a lot. Their songwriting is one of a kind. The instruments are phenomenally played and lyrics tell a story, kinda philosophic near the end. It's about a respected tribe member going hunting and coming back ill, being burnt alive by his clan and his soul going back to fire and stars. Also has a great official lyric video.

Define old school rappers
2019-07-11 22:42
Rappers from around 1983-5 or so till 2000
2019-07-11 22:43
Early 80's rap was pure entertainment with funky beats, as music should be. Some rap is lyrical yes, but every music gernes have that, even pop can be lyrical. You can't really define one music gerne as most lyrical.
2019-07-11 22:56
Yes early 80s rap, thats why I said 83-85 or so Thing is with rap (talking about lyrical stuff obviously) it has the most lines in a song and the most complex lines, good rappers also have a wider vocabulary and they talk about a lot of topics

[Intro] I didn't feel anything, uhh I feel fine I don't feel tired I-Is this real life? [Verse 1: Ubiquitous] Yeah, this is real when I dip the quill, blood fit to spill Was content to just sit and chill But now my head blown up like Mr. Bill I don't flip my image just to fit the bill Or get with gimmicks that the kids will feel A couple of face tattoos with a cup of lean Tri colored hair with prescription pills At the pharmacy where kids get the blues On my Carter III tryna get the Views If this tune don't fit your groove I'm sure Cardi B got the hits for you Pardon me if how big I grew makes it hard to see I eclipse your view Wouldn't spend your muse if the party scene was a centrifuge I been sent to you with a Message of impending doom When I'm riding through on my Paul Revere In love and warfare all is fair At high noon you'll die, now say all your prayers Dollar daredevil balling there U-B-I with The Palmer Squares You'd lose your mind in the hall of mirrors I'd just use the time to play solitaire Upper tier, yeah we right there You could see my flare when I shoot the sky When two divide my vibe unified Like a Shiite cleric with a Sunni tribe True to life, why dispute the lie We might stare at your cutie pie If I listen close when you play your song That don't mean I care for what you describe Pass the flower, roll up nug in the after hour When they close the club, holding bud 'cause I know the plug But when they ask around, I'm like shoulder shrug Then we pour up cups, half the time I don't know what's what Spun the globe, now they show us love I don't show a buzz, I just throw up dubs Y'all know what's up [Verse 2: Acumental] I run from Oakland to Buffalo on a bumpy road to my bungalow Hustle float and I puff a bowl Going up in smoke like the oven broke Out of sight, Hubble scope You won't see me, that's rubber sole Jumping over another foe on a bungee rope in the thunder dome Able-bodied, I take karate Sweep the leg like my name was Johnny Ichiban when I speak a rhyme But the people wanna keep hating on me Got a predilection for teaching lessons Egocentric, I need attention Each and every release I bless Is a feed the press never seems to mention Been scraping the bottom barrel Cape Fear and I'm Bob De Niro American Outlaw, Colin Farrell Finna drop it on 'em like a bombardero Goddamn, it's the return of the fly A mystic misfit burning alive On point like a surgical knife Avert your eyes, say word to the wise You could find Ac pantomiming Even if you tie both hands behind him Can't lie, I'm a tad bit shy but I move fast forward and rewindin' It's all part of the grand design Mastermind with an ax to grind You cats are way past your prime It's asinine how we rap just to pass the time Woke up in an opium den Rolled outta bed and I'm already spent It gets hard to be jovial When you become everything that you've grown to resent I've never been slow Ready to go like I'm holding a rodeo bull and a pen Every show is a global event at the podium over and over again [Verse 3: Terminal Knowledge] Get your hands high (hands up) One time for the disenfranchised (one time) Two times for the capsized ships (two times) Finna cram my dick in your bitch's backside I'm underrated, run the race with prosthetic legs Don't ever question my fucking greatness Texas Chainsaw, shred the face off your severed head Back on top, high like an astronaut and not not just blasting off Foam at the mouth like a rabid dog A soldier without any camouflage I'm an open target, jump street, broken-hearted One seed grows the garden I know that you know what I spoke and recorded And skin is the stone that it's carved in Row, row, rowin' your boat Sink your teeth in and hope that it floats Smoke a carton through a hole in my throat Live for the weak and alone so long as you're meeting your quota Recidivistic, a bit sadistic, a minor detail, a big statistic A sick and twisted, religious mystic Find a female to hit the skins with Sock it to ya, hallelujah, knock 'em dead, plot revenge Montezuma, I really am through with this shit 6-6-6, privy to Lucifer's tricks Making me nauseous, spewing at this Aim at the target and shoot to the clip Soon to be licking the wounds Truth is, I'd be stupid to loosen my grip Usually rhyme when I talk man Used to get by with a Walkman Any sudden movement, it skips You see a shoe and assume that it fits Do you what Cain did to Abel, making it painful Scooping your brains with a ladle, yuck What are you making excuses? Shut up and take the abuses Term

I find this story very interesting after really putting my mind into it but it brings up a few questions! "Spend ten racks on a new chain" - I would like to see the receipt of this to see if he is lying. Also is this chain practical in any way? Chains are meant to hold something heavy in place so I wonder if this particular chain is more advanced and better developed than a normal chain. I would also like to know what brand is it and who are the marketing wizards who can actually justify such a high price tag. Maybe this particular chain was used in medieval times and it holds some sort of ancient black magic in it?? "My bitch love do cocaine, ooh" - Im not quite sure about this but i know cocaine is a drug and is mainly consumed by humans. This brings me to my next question: What female animal is this? Perhaps a dog or a cat? those are the most common ones but I want to believe that the animal were talking about here is something more exotic like a lemur! A female lemur doing coke would be cruel yet funny as lemurs already look like they're on crack. That would also be memeable so hats off to this young bloke for finding a female animal doing drugs! There's a few typos in there. leaving out an -S an -ing doesnt sound too smart. Maybe a change in profession for the lad who typed this? I fuck a bitch, I forgot her name - Now this really raises some eyebrows. Is this the same cocaine zipping female mammal? Probably not since i would remember a cocaine addicted animals name for sure and "A" is normally used before a noun to refer to a single thing or person that has not been mentioned before. What a pity. Although this is not a nice way to treat a mammal or a human female hats off for getting some! In a few years girls will not appreciate such behavior I can tell u that so be careful. What if she never told u her name?? "My lean cost more than your rent, ooh" - How does he know my transactions? I'm pretty sure hes lying. "ooh" here might mean hes caught of a lie. Or maybe a yawn? "Lil Pump still sell that meth" - Selling meth is illegal as far as i know so i'm wondering why he's saying this. Does he want to get arrested and go to prison? I really need more details about this particular line here.
2019-07-12 10:39
Obviously. If you can't sing, you have to find something different to sell records. So people figured, if I mumble cool words into the mic people will buy it, and they were right :)

It has little to no music context backed by the theory, so professionally, it has no relations to classic music genres, therefore it can't be in competition with those, therefore it isn't. Just a freestyle rhyming any dumb teen can do and does!!!

picosong.com/wAWXr/ lmao that instrumental sucks too im sorry bruh how does your opinion even matter at this point
2019-07-12 03:57
If you think rap should be put among the all time music, your words have no weight to me. You don't know basic music theory, who cares what you say? Even my shittiest cover will be better than any rap song musically and vocally.
2019-07-12 04:00
Lmao you're still trying. What you're speaking of isn't music theory, your musical cover is the same as any 5 year old kid singing in school, if not worse, and that is nowhere near close to rap. I mean you said " Just a freestyle rhyming any dumb teen can do and does!!!" and I remember you saying you could make a rap song if you had a microphone, well it seems that you have one now, well yeah you still haven't done it and it's certainly not just rhyming you dumb fuck
2019-07-12 04:02
Basically just rhyming, it's simplified to the below ocean floor so that any handicapped individual would be able to do that. It has no relations to music, no vocal melody signatures, no chords to change the mood, no certain keys they'd have to stay with in. I guess it will take forever for a fool to see the obvious. You literally have no clue of the subject and yet you put your nose into actual music. Just stay 'round your rap, it's your bath tub indeed.
2019-07-12 04:07
No it's not just rhyming you dumb fuck, it's like saying oH yEaH pOp IS juSt WoRdS You're a handicapped individual, so go on, record yourself rapping cause well you said that you would do it when you get a microphone.
2019-07-12 04:09
I don't think I ever said that, it would go separately with my views and principles. I respect myself and I don't want to disgrace myself in such a manner. I will keep learning how to sing while your clowns entertain you with their high class poetry, yo. The same topics, same packs of words. Very intellectual.
2019-07-12 04:12
Yes you did say it, don't act now, and well you're saying it is easy to do so prove us wrong you large suit 80s pompadour wearing fag You aren't learning to sing, singing is a talent, and you don't have any, no matter how much you try to learn, you'll still suck. Rapping is something that requires talent, like it or not, that's a fact, you are the guy who has 0 talents here so if you post a video of you rapping and doing what seems to be the easiest thing in the world with "the same topics, same packs of words" that every rapper uses then I'll believe you.
2019-07-12 04:16
I couldn't care less if you believe me or not, the fact that you went mad like a damn ram some posts ago, already portray me a well known picture. My words have gotten to you, they always do. I keep my word, it's the easiest out of all styles somehow related to music. A greater shame and a big disappointment to realise, such a parasite and disgusting genre are coming from actual music, one day long ago. Anything else?
2019-07-12 04:21
Throwing insults doesn't mean I'm mad lul You're just talking at this point, where are you getting that from? Your ass. It's not the easiest out of all styles, keep it to your opinion, I thought you were a little bit better but hey I guess you're that stupid, now leave my thread LUL
2019-07-12 04:24
It's hard to accept it at very first, I will confess that I used to like rap too, before but I grew up from that. Perhaps you will as well. It may be good at times but we should do some clearance, it doesn't have as many following orders to be associated with the classic styles, it would be wrong. Now go have some fun little fella.
2019-07-12 04:29

I've heard most of the popular stuff... who cares if some underground rapper is rapping about theoretical physics, a genre should be described by its most popular elements, otherwise comparisons between genres is useless

FugLy |
South Africa nimmaJ
Most popular elements would be people like Eminem (incredibly wide array of topics and style) Tupac (one of the most poetic lyricists of all time, literally would have been a poet if not a rapper) Outkast (Most socially aware duo OAT. Constantly spoke on racial issues, policing, uplifting messages, work ethic etc) I could go on. Rap doesnt become a good genre to you until you actually take the time to weed thru the saturation and find the gems and actually respect the difficulty of rhyme schemes and content.

Jay-Z Kendirck Lamar Pusha T Tupac just to name a few good lyrical rappers.
2019-07-12 08:03
I dont see why Pusha T is considered lyrical. He uses the N word too much.
2019-07-13 00:47
????? he can use it why does it matter lel
2019-07-13 01:10
Because using a single word many times makes his verses less lyrical?
2019-07-13 01:11
Yeah I get what you mean but he doesn't use it that much tho? Like less than 10 times in like a 32 bar verse is what im seeing here
2019-07-13 01:15
Well, when he doesnt use the N word he says boy/bitch like 6 times in a row at the end of every line.
2019-07-13 01:18
well i dont see that neither, anyway i dont think he is that lyrical so we can just end it at that, he is still on the more lyrical side of rappers tho
2019-07-13 01:23
Waving at rude boy, I'm wavin' at you, boy Ran off on the plug too like Trugoy Imagine me do-boy, you could never do what I do, boy Still, duckin' shit that I did, boy Niggas in Paris 'fore Hit-Boy These ain't the same type of hits, boy Shit can get litter than lit, boy You don't take these type of risks, boy 'Cause this boy been throwin' that D like Rich Boy You missed, boy

2019-07-12 09:35
Literally couldn't have said it better than you did. I love it how people that think that rap is what they hear on TV/radio, and thus judge the whole genre based on that. You open the lyrics and for just about any genre it's usually 5-6 lines per verse, same for chorus and a lot of repetitions. Now you decide to check out the lyrics for a good rap song, and you just stare at a wall of text with few repetitions, complex rhymes and, unless it's abstract, it all makes sense.
2019-07-12 10:07
Not when 80% of rappers are "BITCH MONEY NIBBA NIBBA YO YO YO NIBBA BITCH" etc Of course, there are few good exceptions, but they are just a drop in the ocean compared to the sheer number of low-end songs produced that have no lyrics, cheap beat and are just catchy, but have no lyrical value.
2019-07-12 10:43

There is a video comparing Eminem Diss Track vs MGK Diss Track, in this video you see the talent and actual insanity of Eminem's lyrics, most people think that only the last word has to rhyme. In the video we see Eminem rhyme/correlate nearly every word in each line, it's fucking crazy how insane lyrical rappers can be. ALSO wordplay, wordplay is super cool, MIC=microphone and Em(eminem) I See
2019-07-12 22:40
exactly, but noOoo guys rap sucKs!!!!! it doesnt require talent even though i cant rap which proves that it does!!!11

but then again, the lyrical game of rap is not as 'mainstream' as mumble, why cus mumble somehow sounds good to peoples ears and makes ez money.
2019-07-13 00:04
thats true thing is mumble rap only makes 80% of the mainstream, most underground rap is pretty lyrical even people like Pouya, Ramirez, $b, Ghostemane who arent *that underground* can be considered lyrical u just have to find music
2019-07-13 00:05
I saw that vid too. It was ignoring some of MGK's rhymes so he looks dumber. Also if you want a real impressive verse check Inspectah Deck's verse on 'Triumph'

"rapping requires talent" hahahaha, that's some funny shit right here xDDD What talent exactly ?
2019-07-12 23:13
I mean look at #226 for example, if it didn't require talent there would be no difference between a bad rapper and a good rapper, but there is a MAJOR difference, and no we aren't talking about mumble rap that you hear on the radio.
2019-07-12 23:57
Yeah, there's Nas and there's Lil Wayne. What exactly is the difference? I think the fact that the latter can't rap.
2019-07-13 00:43
lil wayne can rap now dont say he cant bruh he has some sick punchlines too, but he aint top10 of all time like his fans say
2019-07-13 01:10
We might after all have different quality standards then. Name at least one song where he demonstrates his ability. Last time I heard he couldn't rap (by my standards).
2019-07-13 01:12
I mean the Carter III album, most of his mainstream stuff I don't like though, check out the block is hot if you want, he's like a party rapper but he has some punchlines, anyways I don't think he is that good neither I just don't think he is bad

2019-07-13 01:15
Pagode is a Brazilian style of music that originated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as a subgenre of Samba. Pagode originally meant a celebration with food, how can we know it when its brazilian music lol

Yes it takes skill to rap well, but for some reason you can sell your songs to 14 y/o emo girls even if you can't rap at all

No point in having lyrics when it's all vapid shit that doesn't mean anything to me, my personal experience of the world is vastly different to those producing the music and it is very very rare that they make lyrics worth saying on an emotional level.
2019-07-13 16:18
Well then you haven't listened to the right artists, what do you want them to speak on fucking eating cereal on a sunday morning dying from school lmao

Dude they try to be preachy or insightful and fail hard, eminem for example comes close on one or two of his more famous songs then just crashes hard on a couple of lines. That's the problem: I've done a lot of philosophical thinking, and when they suggest an idea that clashes the whole song falls flat for me.
2019-07-13 16:58
Give me examples pls.

Pick any song from any genre and I'll point out where it first stuffs up on lyrics, if it does. there are some outliers that work for me.

You clearly thought about what I wrote and sent something you value as art. Thanks for that. TBH it could be good poetry (the structure is there, the content is well thought out) but as a song it doesn't move with an acceptably manic rhythm to match the lyric. That's my subjective interpretation. The music itself isn't bad though. To clarify, the instrumental is pleasant and I would listen to it without the lyrics happily. The lyrics interfere with that soundscape; again you've clearly selected well as the lyrics are only a minor interference in that. This doesn't mean the rap should have no music, or any similar thing. It just means that the rhythm of bars and the use of a cool-sounding tune are not generally a recipe for compatibility with the emotion of a lyrical piece. Maybe for some people it's "just a beat" and they only hear the lyrics. Maybe for others it's fine for the instrumental and the lyrical to tell different stories. Maybe for a third group the emotion of the instrumental stricly adheres to the emotion of the lyrics, regardless of its actual sonic content and the emotional evocations of that. For me, the instrumental always creates an imaginary story, a mood that develops a race, a journey, a place in time. The lyric needs to fit that mood at least loosely. (of course this is all my opinion only) What this song does for me is it tells someone's story from a fairly schizo perspective. The clear references to life in an industrial world and cold war life establish the setting. The imagery used is consistently beyond that, it's artistic expression and hyperbole but it's not my cup of tea... as exemplified when he says "puff of my weed smoke" - the man indulges in vice to get through the hardship, and acknowledges as much. That in itself isn't bad, but to use that in the context of an emotionally and somewhat politically charged rejection of aspects of society is contradictory to my philosophies. You'll likely disagree but I'm conservative and I find the promotion of faults as equal to virtues abhorrent. Of course it would be fine if he had established the song as the epic of a character, but instead he establishes it as a social commentary. That's a distinct difference - an epic entices the consumer to awe, a commentary implores the listener to agree. Thanks for sharing, and sorry for the essay, you didn't ask for it but someone else did.

everyones allowed an opinion my friend, thanks for giving it a listen and giving me your thoughts, the fact you can see the poetic nature of the lyrics is honestly really nice, it would be easy for you to just judge the book by its cover and dismiss it outright. just from personal experience it took me multiple listens to appreciate this stuff, so the fact you're willing to approach it with such an open mind says a lot. have a nice day mate

Look at some of the UK artists at their peak and through certain phases of their careers and this is proven. Ghetts - Ghetto Gospel, Freedom of Speech Krept - everything he's done but more in particular, his Last Night in Lagos Avelino - F.Y.O CASISDEAD P Money Skepta - Ignorance is Bliss A large portion of High Focus slowthai Grime and it's UK Rap counterpart arguably lead the way for this sort of rap now. It's a shame that people gas up shit artists like Stormzy, etc. because it damages the exposure the good artists can get and in turn, hurts the genre because the shit artists distort the vision people should have of the genre.
