2 majors or 2 grand slams?
 |
United States ferric
Obviously I'm not saying Liquid is definitely going to win another grand slam this year, but considering how the only teams that can seem to really challenge them right now are Vitality and Ence, Liquid do have a shot at winning the second Intel Grand Slam in the same year. So what is more impressive then? Winning 2 majors in the same year or 2 grand slams? IMO winning a grand slam is more difficult than winning a major for sure and there are not many opportunities to win 8 IGS tournaments in a single year, a feat that even the greatest team in cs history, Astralis was able to accomplish.

2 grand slams is definitely more impressive. You will always have a major winner for every major that take place, but you will not always have a team winning the grand slam.

it will count as 8 tournaments, nobody gives a fuck about IGS. I mean have you have seen people arguing here who has more IGS? Never! People care only about Majors, thats the biggest argument in every dispute.
2019-07-16 15:10
Tf lol, the grand slam hasn't been around long enough to talk about the "2016 Grand Slam," once it's been around for a while people will probably talk about it more.
2019-07-16 15:19
still its just extra money, its somehow compared to MVP medal in level of importance
2019-07-16 15:33
I think it's more than just money, they have to win 4 tournaments through 8 tournaments. Shows how consistent a top team is if they accomplish it.
2019-07-16 15:35
omg, people will remember them for winnin 8 tournaments in one year, not by winning shitty IGS status
2019-07-16 15:35
Obviously, but we're talking about the difference between a major and the grand slam. I think that in the future the grand slam will mean more(after 5 grand slams have been up for grabs).
2019-07-16 15:39
8 tournaments vs 2, stop being retarded please
2019-07-17 03:44
I think you misread this wrong. I think the grand slam means more than the major lol

it's a big diffrence between winning a major and winning a big tournament. Not even the old elague, ecs and esea tournaments with 1.4mn couldnt match the prestige of a major with 250k

The value of the Grand Slam isnt the money,it is more about the fact that you have to win 4 of one the biggest events in the year

2 grande slams is more impressive, but we only got 2 grand slams but so many majors, so historically majors are more expressive but grand slams are more impressive
2019-07-16 15:02
I think in the future people will look back on Grand slams more than majors, because less teams will get grand slams over time.

2 grand slams as long as Major isn't that prestigious to win keeping in mind this 1 mill $ prizepool for all the teams lmao. If CS:GO had an International-type of event, we would have a more interesting discussion though
2019-07-16 15:03
Prize poo =\= Prestige Do you think windigo won a more prestigious event this year (WESG 900K prize pool) Or liquid winning ESL ONE COLOGNE ??? (250k prize pool)

Stewie_6_Majors (1 in Boston, 4 to win a Grand Slam + the Grand Slam itself), maybe even 7 with the gold bar he earned.

Grandslam= more money Majors= legacy Both are impressive in their own way but imo i’d rather win 2 majors since the majority of the players arent in it for the money but for the game.

Grand Slam Winner > Major Winner for the difficulty. Major Winner > Grand Slam Winner for the legacy. Grand Slam Winner + a Major around the same time = era.

Imo i'd rather win 2 majors than 2 grand slams , cuz if you win grand slams but can't win majors it means that you aren't really dominant

Majors > Grand Slam when it comes to prestige
2019-07-16 22:43
grand slam is impressive because it requires consistent performance but it's not really comparable to majors because every team doesn't have the same chance to participate in the tournaments (ESL Pro League Finals for example) but this shouldn't be an issue because dominant team should win at least 2 majors + grand slam
2019-07-17 03:37
majors is the only thing that matters. grand slam is just some marketing bullshit from Intel that will probably stop being a thing in a few years and then nobody cares about it anymore. in the long run only majors matter.

I don't understand why is everyone putting majors so much above any other tournaments
2019-07-18 16:57
Sure, if they do kudos. Wouldn't be as impressive if the only tourneys they manage to win happen to be ESL. Also, ENCE? When have they last played, anyway? I'd say Na'Vi has a better chance than ENCE even though their chances aren't all that good, either.

IMO Valve need to have Major once in a year. Which will truly determine which is best team at that point. Just like Dota2 International is held once a year. Number had already gone down from 3 to 2 majors per year. Grand slam is unique to itself but major obviously feels more prestigious as players get trophy for being Semi finalist and winners.
