Ever been a Team Like Liquid?
United States clannadqs
Not saying they are the best of all time. Just genuinely wondering if there has ever been a team in CSGO history that has had this much firepower across all five players. Scary to think that almost every map someone else pops off. Also scary to think that games where Twistzz is 2-12 at half they still win. Or when NAF went killess against Navi an entire half and they still won.

what you describe as a strong point is one of the few weak points that I see in Liquid atm. I would like them to be more individually consistent. I actually enjoy having that element of surprise (X not performing as expected in a match) because it forces them to find the way around and they are doing it pretty well right now, I suppose Eric has some to do with that, but just imagine if they perform individually at least average every single match, that would be much more scarier to me.
2019-07-19 07:34
Eh, it's all situational. To be fair, NAF got naded like 20 times no matter where he was in that Navi game, but someone else picked up the mantle and got the kills he didn't.

They still have very common issues, such as pistol rounds. Now, they’re super strong on anti-ecos, so that’s a bonus for them, but if the anti-eco fails for them, they could easily lose 3-4 rounds before getting started.

I agree. Liquid is great team but if you look their matches they still rely too much on individual skill. All the players in their prime and super good so currently everything goes well. So many rounds won by liquid in every match just because unbelievable clutches and multikills. Still not taking anything away from them. Liquid one of the most entertaining teams to watch.
2019-07-19 08:59
they do have goods strats tho, and are very adaptive to situations also, but yes, I agree they rely more than I like in individual performance

+1. they showed their potential at the semis and finals of cologne and at blast, and im just afraid they'll fall back into the loop of becoming complacent and losing to a come back. they're all so individually talented, its only the mental factor for them that's keeping them from absolutely demolishing every other team
2019-07-19 16:27
I agree, but I can add that I think they still have to work on their basics to have that REALLY consistent and scary thing Astralis developed last year, I feel like they end up trying to fix more things than they should midgame, other than that, I love their playstyle
2019-07-19 16:41
Fnatic were skilled asf for their time but i dont think close to lulquid If liquid wins major i think they will be the 2-3 best team of all time
2019-07-19 07:37
Fnatic with Dennis, other than that not really.
2019-07-19 07:38
Faze, Fnatic were comparable. I mean Faze had Karrigan but the rest were clicking heads like crazy

I'd say faze had olof, karrigan had the odd game where he'd actually frag out, olof was more consistent and was more about securing games than being out there clicking heads.

the only close match is astralis where all 5 players including gla1ve r more than capable fraggers. more teams will need to start looking like this in order to be title contenders due to the increased understanding of the game especially mid-round and an igl that cant frag will only be a liability in this day and age (daps and pronax for example)

I mean, all teams that got to the number 1 spot have had a bunch of players that can pop off and carry, or even all players. If we go all the way back, NiP had all 5 good players, although fifflaren wasn't as solid he had his games n shit. LDLC had a great roster aswell, also very capable, when they turn into EnVy they also have another great team where all 5 are hella skilled, then Fnatic has the Dennis roster where everyone is just a mad fragger and they get that 6 tournaments streak, then Luminosity had everyone except Taco who would straight up carry, and even then Taco would sometimes just play well enough, with the following SK roster, pretty much the same, FaZe had a time where everyone except olofmeister could've been a god, then we go to Astralis and their entire era where also everyone was fragging pretty well, although this wasn't just extremely skilled individuals, they still had 3 godlike players on dupreeh, device and magisk. So yeah, being number 1 is usually because your stars players are doing way too good, so with the correct time frame, every team has been there in a way, some more than others, and then again, I think only Gambit has been there without having 3 or 4 players who can just take over, or VP aswell.

9-44 POG
2019-07-19 17:06
NIP .... when they had an 83-0 map winning streak on LAN. sure it was new to csgo, but fifflaren at the start was so good, friberg was the king of spray and nana, get_right was a freak, forest has always been impressive and xizt was good. the Dreamhack major in 2013, grand final against fnatic nip were down 7-14 or something and managed to bring it back to a 16-14 win they lost the series but NIP's ability to adapt and string rounds together on the edge of losing maps was insane. fnatic in 2015 were insane krimz was and is a machine, olof was a god, jw had the confidence to pull of his ridiculous plays and flusha was flusha. pronax wasn't the best fragger but he still had impact. But recent times only teams close are Astralis these 2 have teamwork and utility usage worked out, no other teams even seem close, BIG got their utility game up and looked like a strong team with smooya, their players weren't sharp but their teamwork and utility made them a consistently strong team, now they're just meh.
2019-07-19 08:20
Yeah, but with those older teams there was a different meta. Imagine current Liquid with the old M4a1s, tec-9 (nitro still does well with), cz, etc. Shieet, I really wish I could have seen stewie with the old awp.

FaZe at their peak, C9 at their major run, Fnatic with Dennis, and 2014 VP. The level of fire power Liquid brings isn't what's impressive. It's the consistency of it. No drop off at all yet, if anything we're still seeing improvements. None of the other teams mentioned dominated as hard as liquid and still kept improving.
2019-07-19 08:20
Id say fnatic but theyre more comparable with TACO's Liquid. They did have a VERY consistent 4 man in which any player could step up and be the star at any time, but Liquid have nitr0 who still frags fairly well despite leading. Astralis MAYBE?
2019-07-19 08:22
Faze: niko, rain, Guardian, karrigan, olofmeister Fnatic: jw, flusha, olofmeister, krimz, dennis Envyus: kennys, kioshima, nbk, apex, happy NiP: f0rest, get_right, xizt, friberg, allu Not saying they have better firepower, but at least very similar for their times to liquid now.

They won that map only cuz of simple
2019-07-19 08:35
That's bullshit. It's so easy to point to a single round for an entire 30+ round loss, but that's silver thinking. I bet you're the guy who loses A site four times on CT, totally forgets about it, then see a teammate fail a clutch at the end of the game and blame them.

I read it as "Liquid won that map only cuz of simple". I think you corrected it to "Navi lost only because of simple". Same thing.

what about astralis at their peak?
2019-07-19 08:58
Eh, they were insane don't get me wrong. I just think they were mainly utility based and revolved around team play. Not really firepower. Not saying they didn't have firepower, but I wouldn't agree with saying Astralis had more firepower than this liquid if you get what I'm saying.
2019-07-19 16:18
Astralis last year... All players in top20, 4 in top10. This speaks for itself

If we compare player for player, probably not as most other teams have always had that one more support-ish igl. If we start comparing teams as a whole, fnatic with dennis and FaZe prior to the Boston major might give them a run for their money asume we take the timeperiod into account.
2019-07-19 14:33
2017 faze old fnatic (dominating everyone basically playing 4v5) or fnatic with dennis

I'd say Astralis between Marseille and Katowice. Maybe now as well, cuz the only player that's fragging bad is gla1ve. As for why, All 3 riflers/Hybrids, in Device, Dupreeh and Magisk played out fo their minds in gla1ve's system. And Xyp9x, well, he's Xyp9x. The rock solid support, cleanup crew, and Clutch Minister. He picks up the fragging whenever one of them's having the off-day.
2019-07-19 14:52
Nah. Astralis edged over other teams with utility damage, Liquid just overpowers everyone.

In terms of pure individual skill, these are the best rosters In my opinion: 2015 Fnatic and 2018 Astralis are tied as the best CSGO rosters. 2016 LG/SK with fnx and 2017 with boltz were better than the actual Liquid This Liquid is tied with 2017 Faze in 3rd place.
2019-07-19 16:58
You don't think it had something to do with the meta? Imagine this Liquid with the old m4a1s, tec-9, cz, and AWP. Seems like it would help them even more since they are an aim team.

The old awp would favour teams with the best dedicated awpers, and nitr0 is not in the same league with Fallen, kennyS, Guardian and some others... The old tec-9 was insane for puggy teams, like the old Faze and Fnatic with dennis. CZ and M4A1-S never were as gamebreaking as the other two.
