+1 literally takes just the first lesson to get the gist of it, otherwise you shouldn't be allowed to drive as it takes about 2 braincells to be able to drive lol
2019-07-22 05:19
A couple of weeks. Just depends on how frequently you take lessons.

2 hours, on different days just practicing starting without stalling. Shifting smoothly comes with time, the more you drive the less you'll stall, but everyone does it on occasion.
2019-07-22 05:37
'the more you drive the less you'll stall' tf is this bs
2019-07-22 14:03
What is it that you dont understand in that sentance?

machinegun, clearly you don't, you learn to not stall as much the more you drive.
2019-07-23 05:42
learn not to stall? its not like u learn how not to stall, u get used to it and it comes automatically. few hours of driving and u adapt to the new car and i assure u u wont stall in normal situations (not talkin about newbie drivers)

how many hours a day did you pracc
2019-07-21 22:37
Maybe an hour a day, however learning to drive a car wasn't as hard as all the laws and shiet you needed to know, well at least to pass the theory test (lowest was 52 out of 65 to pass).

tbh coming from pov of a person who drives both automatic and a manual, i only agree on automatics when you're driving long trips like 300,400km+, on small relations(up to 100km lets say) it's pointless and often worse.. but in order to understand my point you need to know how automatic transmission works first
2019-07-22 03:20
long trips mostly on highways, i dont mind shifting 2 times under an hour, yet hate city traffic w a manual
2019-07-22 14:06
#82
 |
Croatia mds818
well you see it's reverse in my case, i hate the way automatic transmission works and feels in city traffic especially when you have to brake all the time and feel how the transmission is spinning around all the time(which is not the case in manual), there's plenty of more stuff in it

50 hours of what, you go on your driving exam after 35(34, 1 hour being a dummy saying aha, yes to "that's engine oil, that's engine, those are wipers" etc)

Don't know about where you live but here you do your test when the instructor advises you to and that's usually around 45 hours.

2019-07-22 14:00
Real sports cars are manual because you drive them for fun.
2019-07-22 15:11
ofc but in city manual is useless
2019-07-22 17:14
Agree somewhat, at best it is exercise for your left foot only there is a reward when there is a hole in traffic like on the on ramp to a motor way and you can put your foot down for 3 seconds. It may sound silly, but I just enjoy the act of shifting perfectly using a good gearbox.
2019-07-22 17:24
I mean you will get the concept pretty quickly. But you will do many mistakes or generally drive pretty slow at the start. IMO there is no need to practice in a parking lot, as long as you dont drive in a city you should be fine. Also depends what car you drive, some cars a really easy to drive.

To know how to drive is a few hours. But unfortunately you have to drive 30 hours with a retarded instructor to even be able to participate in the exam, at least in my country.
2019-07-22 15:07
It took maybe 5-10 minutes it felt really natural. And then some more time to get it perfect every time as my driving instructor kept switching cars while I was learning. I started learning driving a GTI and when I took the driving test it was in a Land Cruiser. One thing I've learned since with my MX-5 is that with a manual on a rear wheel drive car, then one needs to remember engine breaking when coming of the gas - do that suddenly in say a roundabout can make you spin if you're not careful. Btw. I've never driven an auto so I imagine having only two pedals would feel strange.
