Anti-gaming stigma
s1mple |

So sick of this bullshit stigma of "ugh I wasted my life on video games", as if gaming was an inferior hobby to anything else traditional, such as arts. It is utterly pathetic when boomer morons say this shit, as if the whole fucking definition of a hobby being an activity with no purpose to further yourself. I do of course understand that it is a rather new hobby, meaning that all the laggots like these deficient boomers won't accept it out of principle, but FFS, it is such a common hobby nowadays, time to accept it and move on. Or go back to pissing into a wooden bucket and using it to wash your clothes like a peasant from the middle ages. Obviously I'm NOT talking about those addicted kids who play like 12 hours a day or something, obviously that shit's not healthy, but tell me, what would be healthy to do for that same time period every single day? You're not doing a great job in the slightest at convincing me as to why producing art as a hobby for a comparable period of time would be a waste of time, so why the fuck do you apply the same logic to gaming?

if youre having a good time, then its well spent time like any other hobbies/pastimes few people actually go pro in their hobbies anyway, so the only thing that matter is to have fun

Good time now is not neccessarily good time in the future. It's smart to invest your time in something that will benefit you in the future, for the highest net good time in your entire life.
2019-08-15 00:15
i know what your saying, thats what studies are for. But lets say you do football or gymnastics, youll struggle and have fun and feel really tired at times, and you probably wont go pro so you can live by it, so gaming with friends and having fun in free time is not less worthy than this

"real" hobbies are real. gaming is all fake fantasy spending hours on end looking at a computer screen

Its just the truth. Being disconnected from reality probably isnt good. At least for the sake of addiction

Surprised how many comments from boomtards I see talking about this topic, yet never seen anything like that one

21 year old boomer who grew up playing video games. Thats a new one

"21 year old boomer" Um... I don't think that that is how it works....

Well if im a boomtard then that would make me a 21 year old boomer. When it comes to real life playing video games doesnt help you out in any way. real hobbies are improving real life skills. Once you get off the computer all the things you have learned involving looking at a screen in a fantasy world mean nothing until you log back onto the computer

Oh really? I've learned perfect English from playing video-games, got into hacking, coding, hope to become a pro one day, made a lot of friends, learned to type fast, how aren't these useful?

And without technology other than the English the time spent is meaningless other than the fun. Real life hobbies build real life skills

You are aware that when you do any hobby, alone, in your spare time. You do it partly to escape reality?

Gaming allows people to try out things they wouldn't be able to do IRL, it is indeed a hobby Just because until the 21th century gaming wasn't a thing which meant that hobbies could only be "real" (like a monitor isn't lmao), it doesn't mean that this newer form isn't considered as a "hobby" I dislike people who are against development and hate everything new

As long as you don't play much it is good, interestingly enough I do and yet I don't mind it, I enjoy it and I when I think about what I could do instead I can't really think of anything especially during the holidays

"when I think about what I could do instead I can't really think of anything." If there was no technology we would rely on old school versions of entertainment. Innovation is basically addiction

So what? How is that in any way worse? I would do something that isn't too rewarding but I enjoy rather than something that is a bit more rewarding but I don't enjoy.

I mean it's not bad as long as you have the time for it, if it doesn't interfere with more important stuff that is
2019-08-15 01:09
Yeah, I agree, you should do what you find fun, but it doesn't surprise me that some people's lives are ruined by playing games 24/7.

Yeah, that's definitely unhealthy, I've seen some players with 220 hrs/past 2 weeks, I was really worried for them But then again people's lives are ruined by other things aswell if they are done 24/7, nothing's good if overdone

It's fine, everyone should live his life like he wants. why do you bother. nothing in life actually matters its like chasing a phantom. either you lived your life in a good way or not. It's just so plain simple yet we fail to accept this fact and strive for greatness and believe we are the best while in reality we're nothing but a fart in the wind destroying our own home cuz of greed and hatred.

It wouldn't bother me honestly, but the media & pretty much every1 just blame everything on games, that's the real hatred, then we, gamers, bring up drugs, alcohol, cigarettes etc. as those things are more harmful and yet they get ignored

Haha you tell me, but hey! The media and basically most of humanity decide to ignore that fact and rather just focus on bashing gamers and blame everything on videogames! Tbh, my life was hard for years, no friends, an alcoholic faggot dad and much more... I had to get away somehow - if it wasn't for videogames I would probably be an alcoholic, narcotic or drug addict... or even dead.
2019-08-15 12:18
well the same with drugs, alcohol, excessive eating, bullying. u can never just blame it on one thing.

nt idiot video games make people feel emotions of joy, sadness or anger. also there is a genre of games that walks you through an artistic landscape
2019-08-15 12:21
my parents and grandparents all think that video games are a cancerous waste of time i always wanna just get away from them
2019-08-15 01:22
next time just ask them what isn't a waste of time in life. my grandpa said having fun, meeting new ppl and then i said ye i have fun playing video games with ppl from all around the world. and he was kinda shush at the end.
2019-08-15 12:14
Just grab a dictionary, look up the term "hobby" and show them that.
2019-08-15 12:30
i mean everything in life is basically pointless if u think about it. once ur faith has come u don't remember anything all is gone nothing will have mattered. so as long u have fun doing something, stick to it. i came to a point where i only gamed cuz i had nothing else going on in my life but now gym and boxing took over that role.
