Because hiring actors in campaigns makes more people see it. Plus they are good at presenting themselves. Nobody will read "Joe Xaxaxa is on tour about climate change." But if its "Angelina Jolie is touring around the US to inform abiut climate change." Then it will get more attention. Also imagine thinking being a climate activist is bad lol. Go burn more freedom fuel.

Nobody says we will die in 10 years tho. People say that if we dont do anything about it then by 2030 the damage will be so severe that climate will only get worse and worse.

you guys think humans will be able to change the climate back to whatever the "normal" temperature is (whatever is the normal temperature) i think that since were still in an ice age that its colder than the optimum temp for humans as soon as the earth heats up and we can live in antarctica and greenland and shit well hit our apex/peak of humanity.

No we cant change the climate, but we can slow down the proces. People can only dream of stopping it. Also the planet aint heating up bc the ice age is ending. But because we fill the entire atmosphere with green house gases and such.

i mean if you look it up the earth has heated up 1.8 celcius in the past 120 or so years (industrial age) but has been heating up at that rate for the past 5000 years. sea level has raised in the same rate too for the past 5000 years. based on the evidence and shit ive looked up this global warning stuff was a good timed decision by lefties to get votes taking advantage of the obvious climate change thats been happening or years. the thing i think we should worry about is the oceans we need to clean those bitches up get rid of plastic etc.

just look up sea level over the past 5000 years on google a bunch of graphs will pop up
2019-08-19 17:12
if the earth has heated at that rate for 5000 years, that means that the average temperature of the earth has gone up by 75 celcius since then.

Something is very wrong with your math, your facts or both. You're claiming that the heating of 1.8 degrees in 120 years is nothing new and that the same thing has been going on for 5000 years. if that is so then: 5000/120=41.666 times will the Earth temperature have risen 1.8 degrees over those 5000 years, this then means that at the start of those 5000 years the average temperature on Earth was 41.666*1.8 = 75 degrees colder. Hopefully you can see how dumb it is to be claiming something like that. Then maybe you can also see, that if the current trends continue, then by the end of the century there may not be much ice left in Greenland. If that happens the worlds sea levels will have risen 40 feet. Take a look at any picture of a place near an ocean and try to picture the sea being 40 feet higher

The last time co2 was this high was 25 million years ago. The co2 we eject in the atmosphere each year is equivalent to a forest the size of Africa burning every year. It took the earth 10 000 years to gain 4°C between -20 000 and -10 000. We are going to do it in less than a 100 years. If you think any of this is natural, good for the planet and humans, you seriously need to check how we got their in the first place and our relation with our environment. The goal is not to revert it back to "normal". The goal is to not get in a scenario where the earth will gain an absurd amount of degrees thus leaving us in a position where our whole way of living will be unsustainable. Just to remind you that +6°C (wich isnt out of the question at all by the end of the century), will leave a large portion of your country not liveable. I dont think that's what an apex looks like. ps : a timeline to get things into perspective xkcd.com/1732/

"The co2 we eject in the atmosphere each year is equivalent to a forest the size of Africa burning every year." sick piece of "evidence" "The goal is not to revert it back to "normal". The goal is to not get in a scenario where the earth will gain an absurd amount of degrees thus leaving us in a position where our whole way of living will be unsustainable." unsustainable = not normal and wow what you just said made me look some shit up and youre right were at an all time low for co2 in the atmosphere over the course of earths existence. plus 6 degress celsius? lmfao youre delusional we raised 1.8 degrees in the past 120 years where do you get your sources? your stance is very arrogant like you think you know more than you do all this info that has very little to back it yet you believe in it like the bible just cause some people told you (mob mentality) there is so much science and too many variables to possible guess exactly how much the temp is gonna rise in 100 years you baffoon.
2019-08-19 17:22
"lmfao youre delusional we raised 1.8 degrees in the past 120 years where do you get your sources?" Wow how to rek yourself. Thats beautiful. We are emitting A LOT MORE co2 than even 50 years ago. It's a snowball effect. Cant believe I have to explain this jeez. Everything I said is backed up by science, you just havent searched at all. Dont lie to yourself. And if you had to check for that basic evidence that we know about for a long time, you shouldnt talk about CC. Knowing that we are going to die as a species because of people like you, that dont even want to do the basic research needed to understand what's going on, and just argue based on their beliefs makes me sick. Cya in 50 years.

lol youre an idiot the co2 has been rising for longer than 120 years and has been increasing correct but wait wheres the increased temperature to back up the fact its a greenhouse gas. you can talk about co2 all you want and give these big numbers and bs but if it hasnt done anything to increase temperature then does your argument still stand? if were releasing so much co2 why isnt it hotter yet? in the past 20 years? yeah its a fad and you fell for it have fun paying gov taxes to save the environment lefty sheep.
2019-08-19 17:54
Cc dont only bring heat. It makes some places colder, some warmer. But what is the commen factor is it will all be more extreme.
2019-08-19 18:12
It is hotter you dipshit, heat records get broken nonstop over the last 20 years.
2019-08-21 15:55
Saying that science is backing your denial is just utter bullshit. There are very very few things where scientist agree more than on the fact that humans are causing climate change. That is the fact. You can argue what can be done, you can argue on the scenarios of the future, that is still under investigation, but nothing is looking too good. This planet has survived hotter times and colder times that is true, but the hot periods in the past came over longer period of time when nature had more time to adapt. Sudden fast climate changes has also happened in the past causing major extinction events.

im all down with planting trees tho even though they dont do much plankton in the ocean is what takes in 90% of the co2 trees take in like 5% or so (not exact numbers but close to that).
2019-08-19 17:24
Maybe a decade is stupid. But saying that our civilization, means of production and a lot of humans will have disappeared in 50 / 100 years isnt. It's been 40 years that we're discussing the matter and we're emitting more and more co2 by the minute. I don't mind if she's exploited by some people to push some green agenda and make money. What I want is less co2 in the athmosphere. If that's a way to do it, then I don't care. Air traffic will double in the next 15 / 20 years. Ressource extraction will have doubled in 30 years. I'm tired of people attacking the messenger and not the idea. They do this because they know you can't attack the idea anymore since it's proven science at this point. So they'll just attack whatever they can. ps : not talking to you specifically jsut had to vent.

Okay I will surpass the your words "'m tired of people attacking the messenger and not the idea. They do this because they know you can't attack the idea anymore since it's proven science at this point. So they'll just attack whatever they can." Lets take it aside and not discuss right now. The thing, from enviromental POV which is not discussed enough is the albedo of earth, since we are building so much, the area that is just land is heavily decreasing (Shoppoing centres, new industrial parks etc) and there are lot of brownfiled that are not being used. These things absorpsh so much heat, that shoudl have been reflected back. Then the greenhouse efect comes in a way, since the heat that is even reflected from ground level, is caught inside. You hear here that CO2 is the main greenhouse gas etc...what a blatant lie. You should change the electricity production from coal to at least gas (NORDSTREAM II for now (until 2050 carbon neutral policy). Well guess what, when you exctract natural gas, a heavy amount of methane gets into to atmosphere (which green house effect is x time larger than the CO2). Above everything mentioned, now west (USA, Europe, part of China)can be CO2 neutral in 2050 (It wont be, I dont think, its technically possible without big tax increases - I work in energy industry we can have a chat on that). You can tax the "rich" middle class in west, since they have the money. But the money have been made 150 years from now, because of the industrialization, thats why you are living in the best country in the world. Now the ohter countries (India, Vietnam, Myanmar and others) want to be rich too, but somehow there is not place to do that anymore, since the enviromental policy, and basicly you are forcing them to be poor and undeveloped(not allowed to use the coal). But mainly the coal and the gas are the reasons why are we so rich in west now and they are not. You can help them by some dontations, bulding solarsetc...but at that moment you are not developing their own sustainability, since you give them everything in there, but every piece of asset there, is not developed in the place of the use aside from the cheap labor, which is the only value they can provide to western companies.

I do believe in global warming, but I do not believe it's just man-made, is there a possibility that we may have made it faster? Possibly, but there is a possibility that we didn't make it any faster.

Where did I say I denied that humans possibly make it faster? I just meant that I'm really unsure about it like I said it's possible that we make it faster, but also a possibility that we don't. What if this is just one of those cycles?
2019-08-27 17:03
no it isnt happening
2019-08-19 17:30
Humans are the primary contributing factor to an observable increase in both CO2 and temperature averages across the globe that far exceed anything that has ever happened in nature. Prove me wrong.

man ice time happend here. no humans made that. ofc human do stuff, but its the sun that make the climate.
