Aiming for it. I think it's a pretty big number for anyone who weighs 100kg. I'm eating 3-4k calories atm and doing all the exercises to assist deadlift, like pendlay rows and heavy ass shrugs. Do you do sumo or conventional?
2019-09-15 20:06
conventianal all the way for me. although in the upcoming program im using sumo as an assistance movement.

@ oldmanbroughthisphone / bitchasssmf: I was doing bench 40kg for a long time, then I started to train with some friends 2,5 years ago. They helped me how to improve, so I went from 40kg to 70kg in bench on 1-1,5 years, maybe notmuch but was okay for me. But after that I got completely stuck. After I reached 70kg, and doing maybe 2-3rep on 80kg, I got stuck. Has not improved in over a year now. What could be the cause? I still improve on muscle groups like legs/biceps/back.

You've hit a plateau on your bench press, and you need to switch some things up. Maybe do incline bench press instead of flat bench press for like 4 weeks, and then switch back to doing flat bench. Or maybe you need to make changes with your diet. barbend.com/bench-press-plateau/ That could also help you.
2019-09-18 00:23
Thank you for the link, saved it, gonna check it out. I heard from one guy saying that if you dont do enough triceps, and specially SHOULDERS your progress will just start fading even if you keep doing chest workouts, since the muscles are so connected. What you think about that? It could make sense in my case. Because every muscle group I got stronger in since I started, more in some, and less in some. But shoulders I barely improved at all, like almost nothing over 2,5 years.

I used to do trap bar too but I find regular deadlifts more fun. Do you have a specific belt you use or just the ones at your local gym?
2019-09-15 20:25
Local gym belts are shit, I bought a cheap lever belt off of ebay a while back and its so nice. My trap bar cant fit more than 4 plates so for new prs I either gotta use 25kg plates (which are bigger so slightly less ROM) or change to conventional.

10mm ebay.com/itm/Kombat-Weight-Power-Lifting.. Its working for me, lifts feel super stable and feels like you got no weight on your back. But if you wanna spend more money inzer or sbd will likely last longer idk.

I honestly don't know anything about programs, I've always made my own programs. Push/pull/legs, do heavy compound exercises first and prioritize them, and after that hit the accessories is the best advice I can give for an intermediate.
2019-09-18 00:33
Yeah, I do that (actually I'm doing upper lower + 1 day full body with low volume and intensity) and I have 1 workout intensity and 1 workout volume and I made insane strength gains doing that in the past weeks. But now I'm on university, I don't have much time to go to the gym and I want to do a strength program (3-4 days a week) to increase my numbers. When I was doing Starting Strength, it was 3 days a week with only 3 exercises per workout, and it gave me so much gains. I want another strength program because of that.
2019-09-18 10:42
None of you guys will post any real picture, and since hltv is full of bullshiters..... Also you should try to find a nice ratio between explosive power *who gives a flying fuck about max 1 rm apart from using it to know at wich weight you should train* and cardio obviously.

It's not like heavy deadlifts and squats give enough explosive power. This thread was made so I could compare my lifts to others and maybe talk about improvements and such and possibly learn something new.

Your numbers seems bullshit. Atleast your bench. This is me in my peak when i did 3 reps of 135 kg. Also you have non existing wings, wtf imgur.com/cIHrSz4
2019-09-19 00:30
Not everyone has the same physique. My forearms are already 32 cm and my biceps 43 cm cold. Some people have to pump like mad for such shit numbers. I have a very short range despite my size giving me an enormous advantage when it comes to lifting. You can easily tell that. There is nothing to be proud of there i could It looks like you think being semi cut gives you an advantage or something while it clearly doesn't. It's aesthetic but we only get like that before a match. Doing so outside is completely detrimental performance wise, let's not even dwell on the cardio and running part, the abs, 0 protection on the side too. We are clearly not going for the same kind of things. This is the kind of forearms you get near the elbow when you train for years upon years in a fighting sport at 80+kg. To illustrate >>cold: gyazo.com/ca78d8530e1deb0f2803a36718f4ba.. And then :gyazo.com/5ec3947971a859297ab7496d36dfd3.. In the first pic of my back it clearly say in the capture that i can only run again. forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=.. 2019-09-17 23:32
About what? i can do slapped push up on my fists, one handed pullups. I only recorded videos of myself doing things related to my sport since i don't care about lifting. But i could certainly record myself benching tommorow? What's in there for me?
2019-09-17 23:37
I don't mind seeing you bench, bro. Those numbers just seem really high if your goal is just to complement your boxing, but I ain't gonna judge since you have a lot of experience in the gym.
2019-09-17 23:39
Cardio has always been my huge weakness, and yeah those numbers are actually detrimental in term of explosivity and speed. I was getting winded pretty fast at times too. I just could never resist lifting whenever i hit the gym. And it sure didn't help after i bough my machinery. My coach always said that he doesn't give a fuck if i can lift 100 kg if i have no energy left to lift my arms after a couple of rounds ^^. I stopped 10 months ago anyway after i hurt my foot. Let's just say i wasn't just an amateur but still shit ^^. At 34 it's time to call it quit with 2 kids. Thanks for not being negative, i will probably record myself to have some kind of different memories for when i get older. Just to annoy my kids :).
2019-09-17 23:55
It's nice to have a clear goal, in your case - boxing. I think you can help your perfomance in the boxing ring by getting stronger, you should just lift for strength rather than the pump. You are already pretty strong so you should go to the gym no more than 2-3 times per week and do it as far in time as possible to your boxing practice. You are a tall guy as well so you might try to bulk up a few kilos and go up a category so you can take advantage of your future strength, but that's only if you are serious about professional boxing.
2019-09-18 00:06
It's true that if i could bulk up some kilos it might not be too late. And the average retirement age at heavy weight is actually a lot older. I was mostly working in set of 4-8 reps x4 at 80% max charge. Depending on the exercises. You are spot on thought i should have limited it to 2-3 times a week. But with 2 kids it's time to move on. The damage after a fight pile up really hard past a certain point and i want to undergo surgery for my right eyes, so it's kinda forbidden afterwards. Unless you want to cheat about it... Solid advices i wish i had gotten when i started. Instead of a clown making me drop under 65kg at one point. I revise my judgement about such threads if there are people like you hanging around.
2019-09-18 00:17
Those kind of "coaches" who advise their students to basically starve themselves just to go into a lower category do not deserve their title whatsoever and should be banned from coaching, especially if their students are kids. I just got so angry thinking about this - 181cm and under 65kgs omg... Imagine the side effects that would have on a 14yo kid, you are basically crippling him and stunting his growth for life...
2019-09-18 00:31
At one point i dropped below 5% fat and had not enough fat in my intestine so they kinda were a bit aglomerating, it even caused micro breaking in my shinbone as a side effect. Hurt like hell when runing etc. + i had no energy whatsoever, even after the weigh in and bulking back over 3 kg with water didn't change much. And yeah that retard even taugh at one point in charleville in france for some kids like you said. Can't imagine the damage this shit could do. He was a fan of doping as well....

Ur deadlift is pretty weak compared to ur other lifts, might be an issue with ur form. Ur not weak considering ur only 69kg and have been lifting for 10 months. Just remember to prioritize compound lifts, eat enough calories and protein, and ur lifts will skyrocket up.

thanks, my progress was stunted after a wrist injury in May, so slowly working my way up again. I find the dl bar too low and I end up being in a squat position when I start, I don't have anything else to prop up the bar. Maybe I will change to a gym with a power rack.

Highly doubt you're putting up that much weight at age 15 after ~1 year of lifting, unless you're a genetic freak.

180 cm, 82 kg. Bachelor's in Kinesiology and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. lift 3x week, mma training 5x week. And I can probably lift with better form than you.
2019-09-18 17:23
I feel sorry for your degree if you actually believe that lifting weights stunts your growth, men)). The only way to stunt your growth is being in a caloric deficit while still growing and/or having extremely bad form and getting sent to snap city.
2019-09-18 22:36
its not an opinon, its guideline by ACSM. Lifting so heavy is linked to stunted growth. Kids can lift and everything, but ACSM recommends no more than a 8RM for kids under 16. From 16 to 18, kids can transition to more weight, and once at 18 they can do 1 RM. Its not an exact science, but these are guidelines.

Are you doing Starting Strength? If yes - good joob, keep being consistent. If not - you still have time to change your routine. Don't waste your newbie gains time for bro splits and get jacked asap. Your future "You" would be thankful

Im doing push pull legs rest push pull legs rest is that good? i eat 3k calories /day track macros 25% protein 25% fat 50% carbs
2019-09-18 00:22
What's your goal - bulking or cutting? Also, elaborate on your routine, what kind of exercises are you using, reps, sets, etc. Basically I would recommend you this -> Workout A: Squat 3x5 Bench 3x5 Deadlift 1x5 Workout B: Squat 3x5 Overhead Press 3x5 Chin ups 3x5 (You add additional weight after you can get 3x5 with your bodyweight) So you do this program 3 times a week alternating between each workout so it will either be ABA or BAB and you add 2.5 kilos each time you go to the gym on every exercise. Also you can add a couple of isolating movements for your side delts and biceps. That is the quickest way to take advantage of your newbie gains.
2019-09-18 00:30
right now im bulking push: benchpress 3x5 shoulder press 3x8 cable flyes 3x12 lateral raises 3x8 tricep pushdown facepull pull: deadlift 3x5 lat pulldown 3x8 cable row 3x8 rear delt flye machine bicep curl machine bicep curl legs: squat 3x6 romanian deadlift 3x5 leg extensions (quads) hamstring/leg curls calf raises machine calf raises

I think you should hit the incline bench since your routine looks more bodybuilding dominant.
2019-09-18 01:05
@ Topic creator: I was doing bench 40kg for a long time, then I started to train with some friends 2,5 years ago. They helped me how to improve, so I went from 40kg to 70kg in bench on 1-1,5 years, maybe not much but was okay for me. But after that I got completely stuck. After I reached 70kg, and doing maybe 2-3rep on 80kg, I got stuck. Has not improved in over a year now. What could be the cause? I still improve on legs/biceps/back.

I used to have almost your exact numbers, what got me to bench 100kg+ was more volume. I used to do only either a 3x5 or a 3x3 three times a week and test my max quite often. When I lowered the weight and started doing some sets of 12-8 my bench shot up.

Yeah I know I should be, I have no idea what's going on. I'm the hard gainer body type so it'll be naturally harder for me but 3.5 - 4k is a lot.. Nah I haven't but the only cardio I do is like 15km of walking per day (max, estimate) Like I don't go for walks, I just mean in general that's how much I probably walk in a day. Not sure how to calc calories burned daily.

Ahaha so does mine, my smoothie is ~2,000 calories, then my lunch is roughly 600-1000, with my dinner being 1000. I have a feeling I need to eat another meal between breakfast smoothie and my lunch, because I eat my lunch late around 4pm.

For 150 those aren't bad, I'd hop on a clean/dirty bulk if I were you to gain some mass.

also i improved a lot cuz before gym i was 65kg typical csgo nerd, in half of year i gained 14kg and did nice progress, here are my record 6 months ago: bench press: 30kg x 5? deadlift: 40kgx10 squat: 30kg x 10 or 8 ohp: 15kg, now 45x6
2019-09-18 17:48
Bench more times per week and have bench variations (close grip, incline, dumbbells, etc.). You are a novice so you don't need to specialize in any move. Just keep grinding and adding 2.5kgs every workout.

I incline benched 60kg already when I started, so it's not that big of a progress considering I've trained hard and eaten quite good throughout my whole lifting career.

Try doing more cardio if your metabolism is slow or eating more protein if your metabolism is super fast. It can't be completely changed, but there can be changes in the way you digest your food.

Honestly you prob don't kill your progress, you just think that it does. I also have the same issue with being extremely critical on my progress .

Strength is cool and all, but high reps lower weight is the way to go for building mass and staying injury free.
2019-09-19 06:59
Yeah but you dont want to be that jacked cunt that can barely lift
2019-09-19 09:25
+1 this is the worst thing people can go for. Then they get challenged at different shit by kids and get shamed ^^.
2019-09-19 10:23
I think it purely depends on why you go gym. One thing for sure is that chicks won't give a fuck how much you lift but what you look like, I honestly think most people would care about their looks more than strength, especially because it's like a trophy that's always showcased unlike strength. But I do agree with you to some extent, I still do a lot of calisthenics in my workouts because I would hate not to be able to move against gravity with my own weight.
2019-09-19 10:57
I do 6-8 on everything except pull ups and push ups, still gained 10kg so not a twink anymore but im not shredded, just mass Youre right tho, chicks dont give a fuck, they just like glamour muscles

I mean, I'm not going for crazy strength, but I can still lift a good amount since I go to the gym consistently, but when I would try to hit new 1 rep maxes every week, I would fuck up my shoulders even if I were lifting with the correct form.

2019-09-20 20:17
Bench: 80kg Squat: 90kg (I've had a lot of issues with my form and just focus on that now, also skipped leg day for way too long :/ ) Deadlift: Don't do them. I Do mostly calisthenics for my back. Weight: 77/78kg Height: 187cm Age: 19 (20 in November) Started my journey to gain size exactly 2 years ago, was underweight af @58kg. Mainly did calisthenics for the first half of it. Slept on legs and shoulders a lot, didn't bench either because I hated not being able to bench atleast 60kg at the time. Everythings coming along now though slowly.

You're missing out on not doing the deadlifts. Check mark rippetoe's videos on squats and deadlifts. They helped my form a shit ton.
2019-09-19 11:03
Friend of mine who's one of the best powerlifters in Ireland showed me some great form for both (his numbers are insane lol). Just working on making sure I implement it right etc. you know yourself what I mean. My squats are fairly shit as well for the fact I skipped legs for a very long time. I do sumo's but only rarely. I might start implementing them more often seeing they target your legs a bit better and conventional and I could do with some of that.

Oh right. Conventional deadlifts provide better hypertrophy because of the longer ROM.
2019-09-19 11:47
Whats your weight now?
2019-09-19 11:08
77/78kg bro
2019-09-19 12:11
Sorry, when you started
2019-09-19 12:51
Properly, in September 2017 (bang on 2 years ago). I went to the gym in like 2015 for the first time ever (I was 15) but never cared about diet (I was probably losing weight instead of gaining if anything lol) I was like 50-52kg back then. Then in 2016 I went for a very short time, like 3 months max maybe because of school and I was a massive no-life playing cs all day at the time. It wasn't until college (Sep 2017) till I decided to actually take a turn in life and quit wasting my life.

We're pretty equal. I've focused a lot on deadlifting lately so it has skyrocketed up. Rowing is very fun. Also love swimming when I'm dieting.
