vegan is good!
Belgium drcasual95
if you can cook you can make good stuff for vegan. today I was testing it went to a vegan restaurant at lunch break with some vegans from work. and I gotta admit I was expecting ice cubes, but I got really cool and delicious stuff. sweet potato soup, roasted butternut squash with cashew mushroom sauce and Chia banana peanut pudding for desert. I will not go vegan or anything now, but I just put my prejudices aside and actually enjoyed it.
2019-09-20 17:44
vegan ain't bad but I will still eat meat.
2019-09-20 17:46

This +111 It's so hypocritical to stop eating meat and try to replace it with fake meat from soya
2019-09-20 18:45
Why?
2019-09-20 18:45
You still need the health elements so just eat meat instead
2019-09-21 14:31
you get protein, vitamin b12, niacin and selenium everywhere else too. so actually no. meat is not wrong, but imo it has to be bio. at least I only eat bio.
2019-09-21 16:11
Vitamin b12 everywhere ? Fake as fuck.
2019-09-21 16:26

Most people arent vegan because they dont like meat, its because of either cruelty to animals or to help prevent climate change (cuz cattle farming is a big methane producer)
2019-09-21 07:59
i would also like to point out that a large amount of farmland (and the reason amazon is being burned down) is to grow soy. and no, its not for vegans. its to feed the cattle for meat. so by eating meat (thus creating more demand) you literally are helping to destroy forests. (keeping in mind that for nutritional reasons, you only need 100g meat a week or something silly small like that)

Yeah, red meat is the least efficient food source ever. It requires so much food for the cattle to get them to a suitable standard to eat

2019-09-20 17:46
Being a vegan is just a trending shit If vegans actually gave a fuck about animals rights, global warning and such bullshit, they would donate money to Lab-meat production, but they do not because eating grass is cool and they will just move onto another trending train shit once being vegan is not cool anymore They would rather annoy others and shove their ideology into our throats and call us rotten-flesh eaters
2019-09-20 17:54
everything we do was once a trending thing in society.
2019-09-20 17:48
Or became a trending thing some later.
2019-09-20 18:09
Doing something is better than doing nothing.
2019-09-20 18:01
So eating meat is better than not eating meat? xD
2019-09-21 16:25
Yes, and actively not eating meat is also better than passively eating meat.
2019-09-21 16:35
how do you passively eat meat? I have to chew it at least! Not eating doesn't require you to chew, there is nothing there. In this case, eating is not passive but not eating is! :)
2019-09-21 16:37
You don't make the decision to eat something in particular, you just eat whatever you're served. That's how you passively eat something.
2019-09-21 16:41
What? Do you still live in your parent's basement? I actually buy my food, cook it and then eat it like a normal human adult does! :)
2019-09-21 16:49
"how do you passively eat meat?" I answered your question. I never said either of us does it. But you can also make your own food and eat meat passively. If you just buy your ingredients out of habit without thinking about what you're gonna eat. Doesn't sound like a very usual scenario, at least for me, but it's definitely possible.
2019-09-21 17:02
they don't actually eat grass though, because grass is disgusting, they eat man-made plants, also they would never eat any natural wild plants as well, they are fake humans eating fake food.
2019-09-20 18:02
Not like you go to hunt every day, kill some animal and eat it raw uncooked without salt/spices/condiment/etc.
2019-09-20 18:12
This is so stupid on so many levels. You think the chicken you buy is natural?
2019-09-20 18:46
not always but I do buy meat from farms where the meat is pastured and organic.
2019-09-20 18:59
organic nice buzzword. You think they went and captured wild cows? 😂
2019-09-20 19:21
there are farms that raised the cows with no vaccinations and don't give them antibiotics, nothing, just leave them in the wild and when they grow up kill them.
2019-09-20 19:22
That must be one of the most retarded comments ever posted on hltv. Congratulations!

2019-09-20 17:48
You can make vegan burgers. I personally don't eat "substitutes" of meat though.
2019-09-20 18:15
Yea you can make vegan burgers except they will never taste the same
2019-09-20 18:17
You never tried properly made vegan "meat" if you say so.
2019-09-20 18:17
I've tried the beyond burger which is literally the most popular/best rated by vegans, it tasted really good, but not even close to the taste of beef. If you have any other suggestions, let me know and I'll try them, but as I said - you can't replicate the taste of beef with vegetables and spices, there's just no way.
2019-09-20 18:20
Beyond burger is just a vegan burger and I'm talking about proper substitute for mentally ill people who think vegan burger will never taste the same because it's not made of animal source products.
2019-09-20 18:22
We barely started the conversation and you're already triggered, typical soyboy xD I hope you'll enjoy your beetroot "burger" while I finish my quarter pounder with cheese
2019-09-20 18:25
I didn't say anything offensive and you're already triggered, typical soyboy xD Yeah, you're the one soyboy here because I don't eat soy at all and you eat meat which was fed by soy, lul. And as I said above I don't eat "substitutes" of meat or other non-vegan recipes, learn to read, soyboy...
2019-09-20 18:30
I still havent found a vegan burger thats good and I had beyond meat burgers as well. Thats the only dish really I havent been able to replace. Trying for 5 years to find a great vegan burger but its not gonna happen
2019-09-20 18:48

2019-09-20 18:04
I think the whole concept of trying to make a meat product vegan is a bit strange. Like, if you want it that much then don't be 100% vegan. I can understand trying to replace dairy or things like that though.
2019-09-20 18:17
Lmao, you can't be "97.5% vegan" or something like this. You're either vegan or you're not. I don't understand why people care about all these labels though. You can call yourself vegan and eat steak every day, who cares.
2019-09-20 19:00
While I don't disagree with you, it made sense for me to say it the way I did because I wanted to distinguish between "eating mostly vegan but a little bit of meat" and "eating the usual amount of animal products". It is allowed to say things only 97.5% correctly in a non-formal discussion.
2019-09-20 19:48

Same, I understand that vegan product producers try to sell their products as meat replacements but it always feels like they're tryharding. I can enjoy vegan food just fine, but I don't like that kind of marketing. It's the food equivalent of your neighbour driving a 25 year old Nissan Almera and telling you it's a fine car and it gets you from A to B. And don't get me started on Oatly. I hate that fucking company and it's gay commercials.
2019-09-20 18:18
depends rly i mean a burger for example is a great concept, u can make it vegan by using beans and lentils and algae and shit like that or mushrooms or whatever. it will still be delicious but its not about this being a meat replacement necessarily its more about the concept of a burger being good and somebody just making a vegan version out of it. it can get OTT tho and there are a lot of crap soy products on the market that are disgusting and the vegans would be better off just eating something entirely different rather than trying to eat meat without eating meat.
2019-09-21 16:01
i love my daily steak dude, meat tastes so fucking good mmhmhmh. might aswell just go out and grab one of the chickens from the neighboor and kill it (ofc halal (letting it bleed out while it's alive)) and then shuff it in da oven mhmhmmh

"vegan food" is actually just normal food. and food can either be good or bad. putting the word Vegan behind or before a dish is unnecessary. it is a marketing concept. you went to a normal resaurant and they served normal food which happend to be good. sometimes i bake bread without milk and eggs, its not a vegan bread, it is a normal bread without egg and milk.

The whole thing about 'vegan' isn't just a marketing concept, it's to display that no animal products were used in the making of the product. This can be for allergy/ethical/health reasons.
2019-09-20 18:37
That's pretty dumb. how a non vegan would know what restaurant to visit and what dish to eat? I know where you're trying to go and I can assure you there is a lot of shady shit happening in the vegan and meat lobby, but it helps a lot to have things labeled as vegan just the same with gluten /lactose free. imagine guy going to a store and nothing is labeled and has bad time cuz of that.
2019-09-20 18:48
Veganism is not about eating "vegan food", OMEGALUL. It's about avoiding some stuff in your diet and lifestyle. If you eat pasta with vegetables technically it's "vegan food", but actually it's just a normal food.

Ignore my other reply sorry, I saw this one after. But why isn't it related?
2019-09-21 19:01
its about scale. interconnectivity just means were capable of communicating with each other better, the main thing causing global impacts is simply the size of humanity (in some ways industries such as quarrying, textile factories or metal factories used to be much more destructive, just on a comparatively negligible level). the real issue of the meat industry is the size, which is subject to the size of the market. so in reality until we restrict our own breeding all environmental issues will continue.

you aren't fucking vegan so stop talking about how you know about it, you believe the mainstream lies and brainwash. you probably believe you can get the b12 from pills don't you?
2019-09-20 19:07
my aunt is vegan and she puts nutritional yeast in her smoothies or food to get alot of b12 and k2 so where is problem? and its not a pill. and i doubt u will die if u don't consume b12. its probably not even a real thing just marketing shit from some lobby.

Most of grains are shit for human body and human does not need it. We are hybrid-eaters who eat veges+meat, not veges+veges. People who talk shit about meat-eating give us example of: Predator teeth ( They cant cook, human has cooked LONG time. ) also its their weapon, specially on 4-legged animals. Meat is actually one of the greatest materials for your system. All human actually needs is some vegetables, meat and salt and water. This vege shit has to stop and people need to stop push all radical shit, yes, this is radical shit because many veges go full-vege and they dont touch meat anymore. If you are concerned of animal lifes, watch some animal-planet or some shit. Have you ever seen real life? Animals just live, and then they will die, they are not humans, have you seen lion taking life of another animal? What about coyote? Crocodile? Its not nice, its life. Lion will bite you from your neck until you swallow your own blood to your lungs / die from lack of oxygen. Coyotes eat you alive as you are running away from them ( Imagine running piranhas ), Crocodile will bite you and drag you under water and you will drown.

What is the main argument for going vegan? Is it "because animal lives matter" Or is it "the meat industry in place is not at all sustainable" Because I hate to see the first one being talked about more than the second.

I respect the second argument as well, but the first one is simply ignoring how the food chain works. In which case, anyone putting that as a main argument, go back to school.

It has nothing to do with what I was talking about. Though there is nothing wrong with having empathy, to other people, animals or any other living creature.

Well I guess it was off, just tired of hearing it as an argument. Because it’s not. It might be for one person, but using it as an argument to seduce others is missing the point by a shitton of miles. The argument about the meat industry doing it wrong though, that’s not just true - it’s factual. That I can accept. And no there isn’t. Some vegans just need to stfu about justifying why they are vegans, because I’m being told it over and over, and I just do not care.
2019-09-21 14:32
I didn't bring "Animal lives matter" argument nor meat industry argument. And it seems some meat eaters just need to stfu about justifying why they are not vegans.

No, but the guy I answered did. That was the point. Not really, because I am not stopping people in supermarkets or generally on the street telling them why I am not vegan.

We were talking about: > some meat eaters just need to stfu about justifying why they are not vegans Regularly coming to vegan threads and "debating with another person" apparently suits that well even if you do it unconsciously.

You talked about something else entirely when you returned an answer to me, even though you didn't have to, just because you can't recognize something as simple as the food chain lol. Besides, when have you been stopped in a supermarket by a meat eater asking why you are a vegan? This is like the second thread in 6 months or smth I have been on with a vegan subject, and it's a valid discussion to have whether or not arguments are valid or not.
2019-09-22 17:48
We don't live in the wild nature, we live in the society and your food chain bullshit doesn't work here. Oh, I forget that raping women and humiliating white people is common thing in EU. Ok, I got it now. There is a food chain indeed. I just wonder what's next EU people should prepare for... probably cannibalism. Fuck, eat and have a leg up on everything that moves. Food chain, yeah!
2019-09-22 18:13
more like the meat industry experiments like drug dealers with nowadays mass production meat, put in flavors enhancer, hormones and water to make more profit out of it.

I gave up arguing this topic as a mostly plant based eater simply because 99.9% of the meat eaters arguing have no clue what they talk about, repeat bro science, do not understand studies, extremely uninformed etc. it's annoying to repeat the same shit to meatheads that can't actually look up stuff out of their bubble.

Vegan diet is not bad, but harder to balance and more expensive if you don't want to be deficent in nutrients.

Lack of vitamin D and K in plants. It's already 1 supplement Low amount of calcium/b12/b6 in plants. you can buy Almond/Rice/Soy milk which has it, but cost more than normal milk* at the same time. No amino acids: Creatine, Carnitine, Carnosine, Taurine Heme-iron, CoQ10, CLA, which force plant eater to consume more protein if he want to build muscle. Achcieving 1.6-2g per kg of bodyweight to help building muscle might be difficult for heavier people and may lead too high fiber consumption which may cause problems.
2019-09-21 15:04
Sorry, I'm not going to argue with you. You are what I've said in #150. You literally got EVERY.SINGLE.NUTRIENT wrong. Even B12 where it's not "low amount" but "no amount".

Soy/Almond/Rice milks from alpro contain those micronutrients: alpro.com/uk/products/drinks/growing-up/.. I don't care how this relate to the study, but it clearly shows that your knowledge of vegan diet is poor. Same with "Low amount of calcium/b12/b6 in plants" statement.

I still didn't get any clear argument where I'm wrong. The point of this conversation was the fact that vegan diet harder to balance, but not unable to. And it's more expensive, simply.
2019-09-21 16:07
> The point of this conversation was the fact that vegan diet harder to balance, but not unable to. I didn't argue against that. I just said that some of your arguments shows that your knowledge of veganism is pretty poor because if you studied that topic enough you wouldn't say what you said. Where exactly you are wrong is kinda obvious from my previous comments, and if it's not, well... nvm then.

Because they're low if we compare meat and dairy counterparts of them or the fact that you can use sources that are externally loaded in them. yet it still will be more expensive, which is the whole point.

its almost as if theres a difference between them, cholecalciferol is produced in the body from sunlight and is only found in animals, its longer acting than ergocalciferol, and besides its made from cholesterol something vegans are deficent in

2019-09-21 14:54
Many people eat meat and still use supplements, lol.
2019-09-21 15:25
Okay, now what? Supplements are mandatory for a vegan diet, they are not mandatory for a omnivore diet
2019-09-21 17:02
if they are not mandatory then why so many people still use it, lol. Who cares if it's mandatory or not if people use it in both types of diet.
2019-09-21 17:03
People use it because they are too lazy to cook and have a balanced diet. Meanwhile it is IMPOSSIBLE to get all nutrients with a pure vegan diet. So we have every vegan using supplements against some lazy ass people using supplements, can you spot the difference?
2019-09-21 17:06
Vegans need only few supplements. Meanwhile many meat-eaters still use shit ton of supplements. OMEGALUL.
