climate change

all these left leaning people talking about climate change and wanting to something about it but hypocritically refuse to use one source of clean energy that also happens to be one of the best counters for CC: Nuclear Energy. If you’re actually serious about climate change, you would have Nuclear Energy as a main solution. But instead they neglect it and claim its dangerous. Pathetic, shouldnt even take them seriously cause they dont actually take CC seriously. TLDR: You’re automatically disqualified as serious about climate change if you refuse to use nuclear energy.

There's a lot of nuclear waste from nuclear energy. How is that the main solution?

Nuclear waste is dangerous but nuclear energy is very clean and safe. For the source to have less of it would have to be the usage of Thorium which is less radioactive. Current nuclear source we use is Uranium cause its used for Nuclear weapons.
2019-09-29 15:10
We should go back to candles, that's the communists dream.

ucsusa.org/global-warming/science-and-im.. Make USA, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Japan lower their co2 because you are disgusting as fuck. How can you double and tripple wealthy countries like Sweden and UK per capita. You're even almost trippling Chinas co2 you dumb fucks, Just comes to show how greedy your disgusting countries are. How dare you?! So don't defend your country when it comes to climate change because you are one of the biggest and most retarded countries when it comes to that

USA is leading in reducage of carbon dioxide emissions ever scince they pulled out of the Paris Climate Agreement or whatever it was called.
2019-09-29 15:42
Economy growth and co2 contributing is kinda linked. So if it's true I doubt it will last, also it's not hard leading reducage when you are that high to begin with
2019-09-29 15:45
Yes, I agree it was a too much, which is why President Trump pulled out of the agreement

A lot... Depends how you measure it. Most of the reaction waste fit in so little space that your argument makes me face palm hard. However there are huge amounts of waste from uranium enrichment.
2019-09-29 16:38
Nuclear energy has almost no carbon emissions. The nuclear waste problem is fairly easy to deal with anyway.

Nuclear energy takes up way less land area than renewables and produce a lot more electricity. We can just bury the nuclear waste underground you know. And there's also something called Thorium.

Yea we can just put that nuclear waste back into the ground. You will now say that it is controlled regulary and built safe to the outside but the reality is that it is not. They put way more in there than allowed and don't really give a shit, as long as its fast and cheap. Also, even thought the chances are very low, shit like natural catastrophes (fukushima etc.) can always happen and cause a meltdown. Also it can be damaged by detonations and shit like that. I know what you gonna say already (blabla this will never happen), but these are the worst cases and riscs that comes with atomic energy. Its a good and cheap solution and doesn't polute the air, but it's nowhere close to be "clean".
2019-11-12 11:24
so, what happens to your fukushima? All countries should ban if they dont have system to deal with disaster like earthquake. countries like US can solve that prob, but japan's accident....sad

Wdym? Nuclear energy is the safest and the most effective way to get energy. Here in Finland we can easily store it safely without any problems in deep rock.

thats cause we use uranium for the source. We need to use Thorium which is far less radioactive and produces less waste.
2019-09-29 15:13
+1 Nuclear + Renewables is the only option for a CO2 free energy production. Fission is ok , but Fusion would be epic in the future!

So uninformative and partially wrong there. Thorium mining is safer, because it is less radioactive. However thorium fuel waste is MORE radioactive and that is one of its main problems. Thorium fuel waste has shorter halftime, but it emits more gamma radiation aka it is more radioactive.

Then you're an idiot my friend.

2019-09-29 15:32
Nope, fact
2019-09-29 15:32
Unfortunately you stating I am an idiot doesn't mean I am an idiot, Your opinion is not fact, It is your Opinion:)
2019-09-29 15:34
Lol this just proves you are an idiot idiot definition: a stupid person ignoring scientific proof = stupid
2019-09-29 15:41
I don't believe In Science brother, they do not link up with my religious beliefs
2019-09-29 15:43
and you believe your religion over science because?
2019-09-29 15:44
It is what I have been brought up to believe and makes more sense to me personally, so please explain again how this makes me an idiot? :)
2019-09-29 15:44
Because you are ignoring proof over fairytales
2019-09-29 15:44
I am not ignoring anything, I just choose to believe something different to what YOU believe, how does this make me an idiot Not same level of comparison but that's like me saying I don't believe Blue is the best colour, I think purple is.. Once again it is an opinion, it doesn't make me an idiot/stupid for thinking/believing something different Clown.
2019-09-29 15:46
"Not same level of comparison but that's like me saying I don't believe Blue is the best colour, I think purple is.." Right so the world getting fucking destroyed at a record pace, and you refusing to believe that kiiiiind of makes that a shit analogy. Opinion? Lol. Definition of opinion: a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. It is fact that you do not "believe" in climate change, which makes you an idiot. Laughable that you call me a clown.
2019-09-29 15:49
You're so lost lol, I'm sorry you ended up this way brother but the Education of United Kingdom Failed you
2019-09-29 15:51
How am I lost? And how did the "Education of United Kingdom Fail" me? (nice capitalization by the way) You're the one denying that Climate Change exists, and you are calling my education bad. You need to take a step back and have a long look at what you're saying.

2019-09-29 15:54
And here we reach the point in the argument where one person, instead of admitting their defeat, gives the other pointless insults with no meaning or evidence to back them up.
2019-09-29 15:54
There is no argument, I gave my opinion, you disagreed and started getting salty, that ain't an argument, if anything you're just arguing with yourself brother
2019-09-29 15:55
"you disagreed and started getting salty" I've been providing arguments that actually make sense, all you have is "Cause u a clown fool" How is denying a fact an opinion? That's not how opinions work, hahaha
2019-09-29 15:57
lol u actually are stupid, That is exactly what opinion is hahahahah
2019-09-29 15:58
Your keyboard must of broke, gosh damnit, anyway I got you homie, I went to Google and decided to google the Definition of Opinion on behalf of you as obviously you can';t search it yourself cause you know, Broken keyboard?! imgur.com/PhWmcDf there you go homie, it's circled nice and neat and well for you so even a clown like you will be able to read/notice/acknowledge it!:)

the fossil fuel industry is fighting a losing battle anyway. Coal etc will be dead sooner or later, for the better ofc. I still find it extremely hypocritical that those advocating action on climate change refuse to support nuclear.

By more popular i meant. More viable since others have already developed it to a state where countries which dont have enough rescources for their own research can still build thorium based reactors.
2019-09-29 15:51
i watched a documentary about thorium. it was a while back so maybe im mixing stuff up a bit, but if memory serves me right it wasn't about realizing that plutonium or uranium was better, but rather because the plutonium and uranium designs were made first. thorium design was suggested a bit later but they ended up not building it. i think the main reason was "if it ain't broke don't fix it", but the weapon construction probably played a role too. thing is, the first reactor needs to be a prototype, a proof of concept and i think back then they didn't want to spend the money since they already had working reactors and plenty of fuel. could be a case of shortsightedness.

thorium reactors r still in the works and it may be a while before they r effective and efficient according to my engineering acquaintances. for example, the Detroit Fermi fast breeder, the only one ever put in civilian use producing power, used liquid sodium as a coolant. a piece of titanium from the "spreader" broke loose and blocked the flow of liquid sodium causing the reactor to overheat and produced a meltdown. the "spreader" is a thing at the bottom of the reactor that looks like an old fashioned washing machine agitator. melting uranium is supposed to hit this and spread out so it never forms a critical mass. that part of the idea worked, but ironically, it was the "safety device" that malfunctioned and caused the meltdown that also brings into question y we dont use re-processed uranium waste if we're going to go the fast-breeder route. the US has a 1000 yr supply of it and we could use it without any mining. many would point towards the Detroit Fermi uranium fast breeder meltdown so its somewat warranted that we have doubts usin uranium. also we still have the 5000 yr half-life of nuclear waste to worry about. i don't think we're to the point where we can adopt nuclear just yet perhaps if we didnt abandon the thorium reactor design decades ago for water cooled designs cuz the latter was easy to use on warships w/ endless water supplies; the former being a design that doesnt meltdown but rather freezes, we would be much further along today
