for performance it doesn't matter at all. it does matter when it comes to features
Not really if you are not going to overclock your processor. Just make sure that your motherboard have enought slots for SSD -harddrives etc.
CPU must be compatible with motherboard socket

EVERYTHING has to be compatible in order to work. The CPU has to fit the motherboard, The ram slots have to be the right size as the ram, Even the fans should be the right size for your case or CPU heatsink. Only pay more for an expensive motherboard if you like the additional features and want to overclock a lot.
