2019-10-04 11:29
if you start as a fat fuck ye
2019-10-04 11:31
I started 69kg/185cm (so quite thin) just a little over 2 months ago. I'm at 80kg bench currently. Didnt try max at the beginning but judging from weights used in sets it was around 55kg. I'm quite confident I'll get to 100kg by 6 months.
2019-10-04 12:47
Strength gains are much faster in the beginning, especially in the period where improvement in strength is not due to increase in muscle mass but mostly to neurological adaptation. 2 months you're still in peak honeymoon period. I think it is still possible to reach it in 6 months for a skinny guy but with near perfectly consistent caloric surplus (and protein quota), good sleep, and training. The thing is most people realistically don't manage to fit these perfect conditions into their daily life, not to mention that they sometimes just don't have the drive and discipline. Usually one of the factors is going to be missing i.e they're not going to eat enough one day here, one day there, or not sleep enough, or miss a gym session. Sometimes even with all these factors they still hit a strength plateau which takes a lot of time to break. I was replying to the guy who said it "should be achieved" in 6 months.
2019-10-04 13:17
I think what he means by that "it should be achieved" is that if you have the possibility to make yourself perfect conditions you should achieve it. If you dont you're not doing something right. But maybe its still not correct, who knows. I have also some experienced mates telling that you can get 100kg bench with 6 months if you train and eat correctly. Cant be such nonsense if so many people believe so? And yes I know strength gains are much faster in the beginning. I could've done better progress this far but I know currently I just dont eat enough and I need to fix that. But we'll see in about 3,5 months if I made it or not xD

You started with 55kg benchpress? I highly doubt that. When I started working out I was happy to bench 25kg in sets, and my friend who was stronger than me who started lifting too was able to bench 35kg in sets. I highly doubt you started with 55kg.

55kg 1 rep max is what I'm talking about, not sets with it. Even currently I do sets with 50 usually.

5 reps of 85 gives a max of well under 100kg. Don't guess if you have no idea

5 sets of 8 reps im pretty sure he means, n if he can pull that off, his 1 rep max should be easily over 100, i think

If so then just over 100. Not close to 120

Yeah maybe youre right
2019-10-04 15:36
Can do 5x8 barely with 45kg without failure, yet 80kg 1 rep max. Thats 35kg more than set weight, and thinking other way around its almost double the weight. Maybe I have super shit stamina or you're wrong. Also depends on time between sets but.. I use 1 minute xD
2019-10-04 21:43
5 sets of 8, 85kg != just over 100kg 40 reps of 85kg and you're telling me they can only do 1 rep of 120kg? Maybe this is true for their first ever time trying 120kg due to the massive weight increase, but if they had a spotter spot them 120kg for max reps (assisted) then came back 3 days later they could do 120kg for 3 reps for sure. Once they get a feel for the weight they definitely have enough strength for 120kg x1 at minimum
2019-10-05 11:44
No I'm not telling you they can do only 1 rep of 120kg. They can't do 120kg, more like 105kg
2019-10-05 18:52
I know what you're saying, I'm saying they definitely could do 120kg for at least 1 if not 3
2019-10-05 19:17
Well 8 reps of 85kg in one rep calculator gives a max of 105kg, so not sure where you get that from but it was nice talking to you. 3 reps of 120kg = 8 reps of 85kg XD
2019-10-05 19:18
He does 40 reps of 85kg, did you not read the 5 sets part??? With enough strength to do 5 sets of 8, 85kg you can do 120kg for 1 for sure.
2019-10-05 19:30
Oh he does 40 reps in one set, well that changes everything! Oh wait, he does 8 reps per set... if I can only do 1 rep of 85 kg but I do 40 sets of 1 rep, then I can also do 3 reps of 120kg? Great logic
2019-10-05 19:32
You couldn't do 40 sets of 1 rep of 85kg tho, you obviously don't understand how taxing it is to do 5 sets of 8 at the same weight.
2019-10-05 19:34
I could quite easily do 40 sets of 1 85kg rep. It would be very boring and pointless though. Whether it's tiring to do 5 sets of 8 reps depends on ;your strength, the weight, and how long you rest.
2019-10-05 19:41
I don't know what you lift but maybe you could, definitely could if you rested heaps, but you'd also be at the gym for 2 hours. What i'm saying is, everyone is different and also, if the guy can do 5 sets of 85kg for 8 reps then he could probably push out 12 reps in his first set if he really wanted. Chuck 12 reps into your 1rm calculator and you get 119kg, I'd also say 12 reps of 85kg is harder than 1 rep of 120kg purely due to the fatigue on the latter reps. As I said above, all he would need to do is get used to the feel of the weight, so maybe being spotted a few days earlier with just lifting it and holding it would prove beneficial, but he could definitely do 120kg for at least one rep.
2019-10-05 19:44
Are you fucking retarded? If he is able to do 5 sets of 8 reps, he for sure can do atleast 11-13 reps in single set.
2019-10-07 12:27
That depends on how long you rest:) you'd know this if you exercised
2019-10-07 12:37
It does, to a point. Considering the sets and reps he's not training for strength, but muscle. To almost fully recover for every 5 sets you'd have to rest ridicilous amounts of time and that doesnt serve the purpose. Most likely its something along the lines of 2 minutes between sets.
2019-10-07 12:59
5 sets of 8 reps is what he said.
2019-10-04 14:57
It really do depend on your muscle type. I easily get fatigued, but I'm also very explosive.

The last time i remember 62 - 64 kg 85 kg ish I stop going to the gym
2019-10-04 11:55
I can't bench properly with a bar, it doesn't feel good in my shoulders. Without it hurting too much I press 70 with the bar included, with 4 sets of 12 reps. But if I use dumbells, I concentrate the press better on my chest, and can press 40kgs in each hand, so 80. 4 sets of 12 reps. But I have a very hard time going any heavier than that because of my wrists and elbows.
2019-10-04 11:56
4 sets of 12 reps with 40kg each hand?
2019-10-04 12:02

2019-10-06 16:10
bullshit spotted again, 40 kg in each hand doesnt equal 80 kg on a barbell, its more

Your story is starting not to add up Mohammed.

2019-10-06 21:46
nice fake shit
2019-10-07 11:49
retract your shoulders back and down, having a spotter to pull the bar off the hooks helps as well to keep your shoulders retracted to the bench

never benched heavy weight but I've made thick and solid chest with focusing on my incline bench press more, regular bench isn't for me but it gives me the best pump

Awesome dude, how long youve been training for? My aim now 110kg in 4weeks
2019-10-04 14:23
I do powerlifting for about 3.5 years
2019-10-04 14:52
weight 97kg Bench press 145kg.. with no pussy bitch back arching shit
2019-10-04 14:19
Arching literally just puts u in a safer position.. An arch is: squeezing shoulder blades together and depressing them, which is how everyone who wants to have healthy shoulders should bench.
2019-10-05 11:45
I squeeze my shoulders blades together but that lower back arch that ppl do is literal bullshit to give support to ur feet to cheat ur way.. Fuck that pussy shit
2019-10-07 19:48
"but that lower back arch that ppl do is literal bullshit to give support to ur feet to cheat ur way." so by ur logic: leg drive is cheating? so by that logic EVERY powerlifter is a pussy?
2019-10-07 20:01
I standby my opinion
2019-10-07 20:47
so every powerlifter is a pussy because they want to move as much weight as possible... okay
2019-10-08 16:36
As i said before.. I stand by what i say and mean.. Doesnt mattwr how many times u repeat ur self to me.. PUSSYS all of em

Aaaa now I remember. That’s some nice steep progress you have there. Just remember to focus on back and especially legs as much. Men quite often focus too much on chest as it is mostly what they see in the mirror.

For muscle
2019-10-05 20:38
ah then you are doing fine within the 8-12 rep range but be careful because it will take you longer to get stronger and your strength wil plateau faster when training for muscle :)

Tbh i wanna start training for strength once im happy with my size, but that might take a while as i still consider myself quite skinny

176cm lol
2019-10-05 21:04
then how are u skinny at 75 kg bw? you'd have some muscle and some fat but nowhere near skinny my mate is 182 ( so 6 cm taller) but he weighs the same and he is not skinny at all so it's nearly impossible for you to be xD
2019-10-05 21:10
#204
 |
United Kingdom oyyrofl
Well yeah guess im not exactly skinny and its just me being not satisfied with my size, i think ive made decent gains tho since i started, started from 68.8 and i should be 76 by now actually.. My ideal weight that id like to achieve would be around 81kg
2019-10-05 21:25
tbh if that is your ideal weight i'd just lift for strength instead of size because if you train for size for many more years you are def going to get bigger than 81 kg really fast, if you train for power the size doesn't come that fast

Thats a good point actually.. i might start lifting for strenght from the beginning of next year maybe
2019-10-06 14:26
Let me tell you that getting from 80 to 100 will be a bitch of a ride It's in the brink of being intermediate and that's when ur progression starts to slow down.

bench is by far my weakest 'main' exercise ATM, I'm going to practice leg drive this weekend and hopefully I can start improving again once I get my form correct 90kg but I can only do 61kg*5, 3 sets
2019-10-05 19:48
I recommend trying to do 61 5x5 and if u dont make it just do more sets amrap til u hit the 25 reps, I did this and went up so quickly, especially when you are starting.
2019-10-05 20:42

Meanwhile I'm sitting on my butt all day, unmotivated, sometimes doing exercises at home (nothing special, I can barely do biceps with some light dumbells) and you're all here talking about bench press. Can't imagine myself lifting those weights men, how should I start?
2019-10-05 21:07
First you have to get up in the morning after a good sleep (7,5 and more hours) You have to eat enough food rich for nutritions like proteins and carbohydrates (rice and chicken, eggs and etc. 4 times a day or more) so your body will have the oppurtunity to build muscles from something (you need 1.6g of protein for 1kg of your bodyweight and the same amount of carbohydrates if you want to gain muscle) When you have your sleep and eating well managed you can go to the nearest gym, if you want to benchpress more, you have to work on your chest and triceps (you can google all the exercises and tips on the internet nowadays) but you should train all the bodyparts, for a newbie its ideal to have trainings 3 days a week for 1,5 hour for 3 bodyparts. Its all about eating enought and clean, sleeping well and tearing the muscle. Fitness lifestyle will make your feel a lot better. 2 first month can be tought but after that its all great fun, passion and like a drug a little bit. At the start you dont really need to take any supplements, you will gain a lot naturally, you can consider investing in them after some months of workout
2019-10-05 21:59
only pussies take any supplements, might aswell go full tren then f4ggt
