Last Malmö Event?
 |
United States BestBetsMatter
Watching Vitality vs Navi right now, and I would consider this to be one of the biggest matchups of this tournament. Despite this setup it’s map 3 and the stadium is next to empty. Any explanation for this poor turnout in Sweden? Are the outside weather or political factors causing this or is there just no market there? Either way wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see another event here for a long time... Thoughts?

2019-10-05 20:50
And you know this how? It is Sweden not Syria, so Malmö is not a dangerous place.

I have been to malmö several times and theres a lot of wierd people there... And btw malmö smells like shit.
2019-10-05 20:55

It's quite funny how the dane is so quick to call someone racist, when his country banned tiggare, yet swedes still allow it because, poor people don't deserve for rekt :(. Denmark confirmed racist nation ?
2019-10-06 00:23
well except for women and men who dont ever engage with muslims or only have muslim friends because they are weird, pretty much everyone has a deep hatred towards them. If not hatred, then just a general fear and feeling of discomfort when they are around because of the fact they live in a culture and bring with them a culture that belong in the stone age and try to impose it with physical force, which in the modern world is fucking weird. Then again if you fight it you are the big racist. But yes denmark very racist. HLTV denmark as well. HLTV racism confirm :O

2019-10-06 12:34
I took a bus from the city to my grandparents home and then 4-5 of them entered the bus and started screaming to each other like "Ey mohammed walla walla" etc. And then they started looking at me for no reason and started smiling a bit and it made me uncomfortable so at the next stop I went off the bus and walked the rest. This is just one of many expirences I have had...

You cant compare it like that. Im born In Gothenburg and they also got alot of immigrants but their problems aint even close to malmö's. Malmö is a lost city.

Lost because brown people make me uncomfortable
2019-10-06 13:04
I never said that. But if you open your eyes you would realize that the police got no control, instead there are gangs controlling the city and buring cars everyday. There's a reason why most swedes wanna give "skåne" to Denmark... Beacuse its a shithole.

Let's just ignore it to avoid touching on anyones sensible feelings. As long as it's better than USA it's good, right? The reason everyone talks shit about Malmö is because it's (almost) not "swedish" anymore and it is in fact the city with the highest crime rate in Sweden.

Never said it's good, but entire Sweden have issues. Like 95% of the people do pretend it's only issues in Malmö. Those issues just gets larger media exposure than issues in other cities. Take the bombings in Linköping for example, or the multiple shootings in Stockholm the past month. The previous shootings in Göteborg. Nothing gets as much media exposure as the things that happens in Malmö because it's the "trendy" opinion and option to bash on Malmö just because it fits political views and agendas. I'm not saying it's perfect here, but it's not worse than any other large city in Sweden. Pretending it is makes you fools. Edit: And fyi, whos to say whats to be considered "swedish"? You? SD? Those kind of viewpoints is a joke. And it's funny you say "highest crime rate" when the cities with most areas on the most dangerous areas in Sweden for 2019 as by the police is in Stockholm and Göteborg. Malmö has less areas than both considered dangerous.

Sweden doesn't consist of 3 cities only, and of course the 3 biggest cities will have the highest amount of crime rates. Doesn't matter if Stockholm has a higher crime rate. If Stockholm is for example 5 times bigger than Malmö but only have 2 times higher crime rate the areas with a lot of crime will be more secluded. Also it depends on the severite of the crimes, in bigger cities saturday brawls and minor crimes are higher while they technically could br horrendous in other places. No matter how you put it Malmö is still one of the worse places in Sweden. Potentially highest crime rate/m^2 if you like?

If it was real, it'd most definitely be in a refugee center and not a usual thing. Either way I see nothing wrong with it.
2019-10-06 12:16
It was at the border control)) there is a law to stay in the first safe country, thats why they in illegal ways pass 10+ countries before reaching sweden and here they are rewarded with housing. We pay their relatives to get here, we pay you to learn our language, which has no limit of time so you can easily fail the language text the rest of your life and keep getting taxpayers money. We pay your food. We pay your clothes. Refugees in Sweden = nobility. There's people that has failed this test for 20+ years.
2019-10-06 14:09
Source on the law that you must stay in the nearest safe country?
2019-10-06 14:41
It's an indirect law, since if you don't sign up for refuge in the closest safe country you pass the border illegally without the correct documents. Every country I know of has some kind of border control that documents people passing, going in or out. Idk why you support economical refuge but if you want to try to save the world go ahead.

They are almost entirely gang-related and gang-isolated. But sure, sometimes, but very rarely innocents get caught in the middle.

The only input I can give on malmö is based on my coworker who lives there, there's random gunfire weekly and sometimes explosions. But I still don't think it's near the levels of an american ghetto, but still much higher than any other city in Sweden

The tickets are expensive, the city generally doesn't have a big concentration of CSGO players (immigrant city, they dont play CS), + I doubt any sane person would seriously drive from Denmark, even by Train, just to go to this tournament, especially since its not really a very hype one, due to half the teams coming in from ESL NY just a few days prior. Ironic how your method of calling out someone for "racism" is to say they're inhuman. Being against mass imagraration isnt inherently racist either.

Did you miss how the Indian guy talks about having "enough brain to ask immigrants to fuck off". It is not exactly like he is presenting himself as civilized individual. Also immigrants is the wrong word, many if not most are refugees so when taking them in is the humane thing to do that what is arguing against that - especially when it is something coming that has never even been near the place we are talking about.

I remembered Malmö as being one of the best tournaments of the year, with a great crowd Are my memories wrong ? Or is it just poor this year ? Maybe it's because swedish scene wasn't good in 2019... But still, both NiP and Fnatic made a deep run, so where are the fans ?
2019-10-05 21:13
yeah exactly the tournaments in sweden were always nice, especially with the huge crowd but this tournament is really underwhelming in terms of fans. the arena is so empty... might be the wrong city :D
2019-10-05 23:10
But I remember 2017 as a very crowded event, even though it was in Malmo... :< Didn't watch 2018 though

yeah i'm sure that the arena in malmö was stacked in the previous years idk why i wrote that. i didn't think about it clearly tbh :D really weird to see that there are much less fans. i was expecting way more, a full house i would say. strange

my friend said its not safe at nights and he lived in malmo for 3 years so i counted in his words. i also know most of the refugees and arabs lives in malmo so i wouldn't risk it. i don't want people to find my dead body at morning in malmo because of 50 euros xd

Ok, lets get somethings straight. Safety reason? No Weather? Hell no Work? fuck no Low interest in CS:GO, kids moved onto other games? Maybe Low number of Swedish teams? Maybe played a role, but still 2 teams attended and also playoffs. Cause? You have to understand the first event was probably boosted as fuck in terms of tickets. Probably sold a vast majority off dirt cheap to fill the arena or tickets were handed out to people as a last minute resort. This isn't uncommon at all. I've been handed tickets for free for several events through work. For example the Female European Football Championship in 2013 that Sweden hosted was boosted as fuck as well. Literally 40% of the tickets for the final were handed out for free to get people to the arena. I bet 100 bucks that the first Malmö event was done in the same manner. This time the event was not boosted and this is the outcome
2019-10-05 23:47
The muslims (around 80%) of Malmö aren't interested in CS. Stockholm or Jönköping much better crowd

Swedish scene in decline, the city its hosted in is also somewhat in decline. security reasons arent unfounded, malmö has some serious criminal problem and the swedish police force is weak. The organizer probably hoped for more danish presence since its basically closer for most danes than it is for swedes. Jönköping and the two other major cities in stockholm and gothenburg should suffice much better. heck i could even name other cities that would be able to attract larger audience. the game is still popular among people in the sticks but no way its attractive for native young swedes to visit malmö.

Worst comment section I've ever seen. Fucking retards, seriously. They have been hosting events in Malmö all the time, and this is the first without a good crowd. It has to be some kind of marketing issue, plus most people live in the middle of Sweden, closer to Göteborg and Stockholm, and not right next to Denmark. Crowd was decent during Astralis vs fnatic because it was a game worth watching. Heard ticket prices were high as well. It has NOTHING to do with immigrants or crime. No one has complained a single bit over the location until this.

your right that the city itself and the domestic problems outside of esports isnt the biggest issue here, but it might certainly tip the weight of the scale in people not turning up. a couple of years back i would have traveled to malmö to watch the best cs teams since we had two among them and one of them would either win of make a deep run. but no way in hell i will go to that city to watch them play today since they would in most scenarios go out early and under poor performance. a big factor is that when traveling such distance (and even more so for people outside of sweden) you would like to combine the trip with actual sightseeing in the city or neighbouring areas, and in that department i dont see malmö being the least bit attractive. all in all, expensive and cost inefficient trip altogether.

Malmø is not a big city. Nearest one is Copenhagen, but most danes will only come over to see danish teams. So you should blame the danes as much as the swedes. You can get from Copenhagen to Malmø in less than 1 hour, 24 Euro for a return ticket. The Tournament was shown on danish TV, really good coverage, so that may have kept many from travelling. Fairly easy for germans, poles and norwegians too, but they have no teams to follow.
