This guy shouldnt be able to compete at this level at that age with these 17 year old kids for this long. Its unheard of in esports. How long until he cant?

He never has shit games, i do remember his shit games. At the major was his worst in his career but with huge asterisks behind it that is excusable. Stand in golden, he had a child, it was getright last Tournament.

GOAT
2019-10-22 17:24
Explain why? Are you retarded mate? He's like 30 tops, peak performance of a male human being is at the age of 27, we talking esports here, if a fat 17\21yo that looks like he's in his mid 40's can play this game, ofc an adult of 30yo can trash kids as well, this isn't a phisical sport... this mongoloid mentality jesus fucking christ
2019-10-22 17:26
people say it cuz of the reaction time but it almost dont change until like 40 plus most pros are on the 200-240ms range anyway.

Well younger people usually having faster reactions, that is why older should have problems keeping up. But obviously it isnt the case here. I believe its his beard!
2019-10-22 17:29
So you tell me a mature man, that can deal way better with pressure and has better decision making, will lose vs a younger player cause suposelly he's a little faster? That doesn't make any sense

That's the theory, but look at the actuality. Most players deteriorate after about 25. You can speculate as to why that might be, i.e. not age related but motivation or something. But it's pretty much standard. Obviously some peak older than others, or don't break through until a bit later in their career. But generally players get worse.
2019-10-22 17:36
That's why with te professionalization of Esports, that can and will change, any adult from Europe geting 20k to play videogames will remain as professional as they can. Now if you give that amount to a 3rd worlder, and what happen to Markeloff for exemple, will repeat itself, with the amount of money going around having older players will be more than normal

This might be historically true but that's larger down to previous Pro players in 1.6 and Source etc not actually making enough money to live and have very little stability. After 25 this becomes a massive issue with marriage, mortgage and babies appearing. It's Very different now that players earn very good money, have solid long-term contracts and even have other options within the game if they do retire from playing (coaching, casting etc). CS has been going 20 years but it's literally in the last 3-4 that it's become professional and financially viable.

Yeah, we will see. But so far we haven't seen many exceptions.
2019-10-22 20:39
Most pros retire by 27, the younger generation is just much more mechanically skilled
2019-10-22 17:41
Not even lol

2019-10-22 17:48
Alright - now I can name at least 50 young talents The fact is that it’s not the older pros skill, it’s the younger generations higher skill level
2019-10-22 17:51
sure, look at swe, the best players besides brollan are all the old generation
2019-10-22 17:53
And anywhere else it’s the young players Even in Sweden players like brollan and twist have skill caps much higher than the older players, it’s that they’re not as consistent
2019-10-22 17:56
twist is literally 24
2019-10-22 17:59
Still younger than the older Swedish scene

I don't think you realize that reaction time is a huge player in esports, it declines from the age of like 13.
2019-10-22 17:47
f0rest won't retire until his son will replace him in the scene, Lindberg family must prevail

f0rest was inconsistent, because he is a father now...but now, after a few rough months, he is still dropping some amazing shots.
2019-10-22 17:31
Expected classic f0rest to perform at events in China that no one cares about. Somehow NiP fans will wake up from nowhere to praise him and call him GOAT. Wait until next major where teams really try and he will go 0.54 again.

it's starladder t1 event, biggest one from now til the end of the year, people care about it. I guess you're not baiting and your just ignorant but oh well
2019-10-22 17:50
Gotta admit I haven't had any time to watch this tournament at all and given the teams attending, sure its T1, but theres how many T1 events per year? f0rest usually performs at these type of events where the top dogs aren't pushing top gear. You know when a major comes around that all teams come prepared and I'm not surprised to see old guy f0rest not being able to compete.

let the man play hes done quite a lot in 1.6 and go and he has the choice to play or to stop
2019-10-22 17:51
Age is really overrated. Old players tend to get washed up because they lose motivation, lose focus (wife, kids, etc), and suffer from mental exhaustion (playing 8 to 10 hours a day for years and years is not easy at all). And some were good against weak competition when pro CS didn't exist, and are not worse now, but struggle because they actually face high-level CS now. But age itself doesn't matter that much if you're actually good and you're still focused on the game. And also, it's absolutely not unheard of in esports.
2019-10-22 17:53
Absolutely. I would also add that f0rest has always been the most talented player to touch CS. He hasnt played that much CS during the last decade compared to others but he's still really good. With this in mind, I think he can continue to play at a really high level for the next 5 years at least.

Give me 30+ examples, infiltration in street fighter is all i know.
2019-10-22 17:57
Yeah because 30+ examples are necessary to prove that it's not unheard of. Did you actually expect me to do research and write 30 names in here?
2019-10-22 18:00
And the game changes. Learning new untrained muscle memory is much easier than letting go of old ingrained muscle memory when weapons change. Having 14 versions of maps burned into your brain might cloud your thoughts if you lose focus, compared to knowing just one version. Old meta plays that defined your career have been mapped out and practiced anti-strat to perfection. Things that new to the scene players dont have to deal with. They still have a lot a lot to deal with, but changes over time are not as big a factor for people just joining the scene. The institutional knowledge though, understanding the evolution of the game, having the experience of doing the things, all that is what makes players attractive as coaches or analysts. There is competition for their skill sets that might not involve teams as much as they used to as well
2019-10-22 20:51
Yeah that also.

That's also what I'm thinking, hell, every game I saw he's dropping frags like it will never gets old, unless at the major where pretty much all of them are shit at the same time. Reaction time I think is only the minor factor and will only affect clutch situations, not in general aim. If f0rest keep his body healthy, I'm pretty sure he can go all the way to the age of 35+.

this "reaction time decays" stuff is such bullshit. honestly if you practice consistently every day then your reaction time won't get worse. When i checked my father's reaction time when he was 50yo, he could still consistently do 170ms (on humanbenchmark). the reason why older players gets worse is because they are not hungry for the game anymore. they have other priorities like family and personal life. they just burn out and loose motivation for a video game that they played for so long.
