Get_right 1.6 bugs never fixed
Canada diamond_space
Today on Blast Pro series, gtr says "I come from 1.6, we had bugs, we had problems that never got fixed, we had to get used to it". What problems was he talking about before he stopped playing in 1.6 profesionnally in 2012? Source: twitch.tv/videos/502552928?t=01h04m18s

isnt it a problem in csgo too? i remember someone doing it in pro scene and later got fixed i think.
2019-11-11 19:22
I dont really know , i never saw a model in csgo that goes up and down all the time. It was so hard to hit anyone when they were peeking from an edge.

i remember very faintly. In a csgo pro match they were crouch jumping in pit on Inferno, the player model of the jumper is not visible to the enemies but the jumper could see the enemies. They later fixed it after some youtubers made videos on it.
2019-11-12 10:09
BIG did this I think, there also was a thing where you could jump without making sound if you used a certain combination of jump+crouch

That's why it's called BUG clan
2019-11-12 10:44
Jump/ducking also made half of the footsteps sounds .
2019-11-12 12:19
You could crouch jump over the wall and they couldn’t see you on the other side, then they just prefire them

Yeah after I made this comment I saw that there were other people commenting on it as well, so you didn't dig it up
2020-08-25 11:56
BIG did that in inferno . perticularly in banana half wall and in A site pit.
2020-08-27 02:25
Because you have a "stamina" for crouching to prevent crouchspam now

That's bullshit. It was never banned in competitive big money CS. It's only braindead admins in lowest tier pubs that bully you for it.
2020-08-03 19:38
No, duck jump with binds weren't allowed, but without binds it's fine
2020-08-25 14:41
bugs like binding duck to scroll + ducking with ctrl at timing totally masking walking sound werent allowed, but for people that used 15min to just to it with only ctrl instead with just a small movement speed decrease, this where allowed.

This was fixed around 2008. When you bind duck to scroll now, it does make sound all the way as you move.

1.6 didn't get updates until much later like 2012/2013 or something, people still did silentrunning after 2008. I remember the game being completely broken for a while cuz of the updates, at least the sounds were completely fucked.

It did, kinda. Not quite as much. The one I'm talking about is commonly referred to as the protocol 47 to 48 update. There was no avatars in the scoreboard initially. They showed up first in 2008, but only in high resolutions, not very well suited for 1.6. Nowadays, you have avatars in all resolutions.
2020-08-27 02:20

but those are banned in lan tournaents
2019-11-07 15:38
Just because you are not allowed to do it in tournaments - This was still a bug that wasn't fixed and could still be done. Same with the crouch/jump. And the defuse through floor - Thats a bug doesnt matter if its allowed to be used or not.

thats what made the game great. if you nerf russian walk like they did in p48 you just limit the skill ceilling. defuse through floor can easily be spammable also from upper.
2020-08-25 14:25
Doesn't matter how you try to solve or justify the issue. Its not intended therefore a bug.

There was one OP bug, when you die and start spectating your teammate and then change it to another player you can slow it down and then you can easily see enemies through walls
2019-11-02 02:33
+1 fast switching between your teammates cameras = wallhack :D Which is why people used fadetoblack on tournaments :d
2019-11-02 13:25
I always did this 😆😆 My computer had its own bug. If someone would write to me from MSN messenger my screen started to shake and I could see enemies through walls while the messenger text was on the screen. I had no problem with that hehe
2019-11-11 19:17

Flash bugs. Switch Glitch. Walking on the very edge of a surface would sometimes produce the noise of the surface type below it (ex: B site Nuke). Crouch-walking. Having to manually enter your zoom sens and interp if you were too lazy to set up a userconfig file...
2019-11-02 13:26
1.6 was a mess. really bad game from neutral prespective. 0 cooparation from VALVE. what happening now is totally different. first of all the game for itself is kinda great compared to other games on the market. second, every time the community finds a bug/gun op/ map unbalanced etc they immediately fixing it. totally different times

I enjoyed the wallbang battles on nuke man that was my bread and butter
2019-11-07 18:35
now you don't have russian walk and the game has enough pace to it. now you have wallbangs but wallbangs that make sense and in logical places..

wallbangs are defunct in csgo imo only with an awp you can do anything with it. the game is also much slower now w/o russian walk so movement is pretty much nerfed. if you transitioned from 1.6 to csgo everything so wack yo in the sense that it's so sloow.
2019-11-07 18:38
Yeah the movement is shocking in CSGO.

1.6 had many bugs and back then Valve did not change things inside the game with updates like we are used to nowadays, you simply had to get used to them like GT said.
2019-11-02 13:32
russian walking
2019-11-02 13:34
Crouch hopping which became one of the biggest parts of the game in the latter years. Head hit boxes being fucked up when you try to headshot a defuser. Looking at down to the floor when a smoke is in front of you allowed you to see through the smoke a little. There were tons of bugs that some actually improved the game for me, like crouch hopping with sped up the game a lot. Still a better game than csgo, and 1.6 never got updated.

Pixelwalks, seeing through walls (dust2 infront of long dark), the legendary nade that exploded in the boxes outside of b door and did damage in lower tunnel, shitton of wallbangs thru kilometer thick walls, not hearing defuse if u stabbed with knife right before u started defusing, defusing thru walls.... And shitton more xd

2019-11-07 15:36

2019-11-30 13:30
In 1.6 if you binded scroll wheel up to crouch you can crouch spam and move insanely fast and basically be impossible to hit
2019-11-07 15:43
And impossible to hear.
2019-11-07 18:40
Ikr
2019-11-07 18:41
But it was banned in pro tournaments so it was not much an issue
2019-11-07 18:42
And also impossible to shoot while doing it, you were not allowed to bind crouch to mwheel at events, and tbh using mwheel was a much ineffective way to do it, hitting the crouch button in a good pattern was better. The sound was much better in 1.6 anyway it the "bug" didn't completely mask sound.

2020-08-25 12:19
there were so many bugs. There were a lot of "bug flashes" where you would jump throw it into an arch or crevasse and it would flash big parts of the map as if it blew up in front of you. I remember abusing one on short that would flash the entirety of short, A and long. youtube.com/watch?v=xhiMkhHZf8s ^ hitboxes were shit and never fixed anti headshot angles was a thing because the player model would change drastically depending on u moving left or right once you could bind mwheeldown "+jump;wait" and have perfect bunny jump skills and all you had to do was just keep scrolling you could throw a flash when defusing - BUT ONLY if you had pulled flash before defusing - youtube.com/watch?gl=UG&hl=en-GB&v=GjC9I.. example here ^ I believe he was the first to discover this... there were so much shit I cant even remember it all
2019-11-07 18:42

there was a pop flash for CTs that blinds all of the rushing Ts from the goose. there was a box at the corner of the goose and if you aim to middle of it (or a little bit higher) it will pop up at the corner of the stairs prntscr.com/ptvixl. and the best part is, you won't get blind while doing this. but it's very hard to pop flash. there was the video on youtube but it's private now :(
2019-11-07 19:29
The biggest one was probably the duck jumping one refered to as "Russian jumping" for some reason. I guess it looked like someone tried to slavic squat and stood back up instantly. It could be abused to move at normal speed while still being silent if you were really good at it, and you could crouch peak corners really fast with it.

Inaccuracy bugs - everywhere. 1. Guns were supposed to lose accuracy from the first shot. However, due to a bug you only start losing accuracy after n shots. For the AK47, n = 6; for the UMP, n = 15; for the MP5, n = 1 (the only gun this bug doesn't work with). In general this number varies with each gun. 2. After you got above the number of shots to actually start losing accuracy and stopped firing, you didn't actually get your accuracy back by waiting. The game didn't apply the "recovery" to accuracy until the *next* shot after you waited. So, if you sprayed 15 shots with an AK and waited 3 seconds, your next shot would be as bad as the 16th shot would have been if you kept spraying. The workaround for this was the "magic bullet" trick (quickspwapping after you fire). 3. The SG550's (CT autosniper) accuracy is not properly initialized, so the first shot is always fucked. 4. The AUG has more accuracy after a reload than even quickswapping can give you. 5. In theory, you're supposed to have maximum accuracy and no recoil penalty if you're moving slower than 140 units per second. But for some guns that leeway isn't given, and you have to be *perfectly stationary* to not have the recoil/accuracy penalty.
2019-12-10 15:08

when u are halflflashed amd u get another flash, even behind, u are fullflash so doubleflashes was very overpowered at a rush, navi and mousesports gob b abuse it very hard . then u can made on the old netgraph, at a 1vs 1 u can scan the spot thru walls, when the numbers on netgraph go higher u know enemy is at this site and can go to another, cyx invented it after they used it in eps at 360 esports push scoreboard when flashed, and u can see pretty good and fight when u flashed, many players do this in germany in old times.... then smokepuff could be never fixed. an smokefile u put in in your folder and u got , smokes that are actually no smokes u also can play with gamma and brithness programms to see thru smokes good, and made flashes half useless i can tell u 70 % of the good esl players use smokepuff in the endtimes of esl, thats why everybody say the germans cheats in this times... we are just smokegods
