GeForce 1060 and I5-7500
 |
Canada I_woke_up_in_beast_mode
I have a GeForce 1060 and I5-7500 in my computer. I'm starting to feel like I have fps drops on the new maps. Which part should I upgrade first? CPU or GPU?

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
get a 1080 first
2019-11-11 14:04
alright thx
2019-11-11 14:10
np dont get the new cpus, useless af, a gen 9 9800 is a processor for a server , not for a computer
2019-11-11 14:12
Get a RTX 2070 instead. Much more recent

1060 is more then enough for cs go, the problem is that game engine is outdated dog shit, that can't utilize modern hardware. i have 120+ fps in bf V on ultra settings, and i have drops to 100fps in csgo danger zone, its fucking hilarious

2019-11-11 16:05
if you want high stable fps you should upgrade your CPU first, its directx9 game, you don't need many threads here, take some i5 series K cpu and overclock it as high as you can
2019-11-12 01:45
GPU

2019-11-11 14:40
lol idk what these guys above are talking about 1060 is more than enough for csgo, especially if its a 6gb version but 7th gen of i5 sucks nowdays cuz it only has 4 cores/threads while most of cpus now have 6 cores 12 threads at least. so its better to update cpu first but you will have to update motherboard too
2019-11-11 14:11
store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocar.. 1060 is the most popular gpu atm, 2nd and 3rd ones are 1050 which are even worse than 1060, so dont listen to these imbeciles

Csgo is a very cpu heavy game, 1060 is just fine

agree same gpu, 1060 but 3 gb i had i38100 and around 250 fps with drops to 180 (1080, video low) i upgraded to i5 9600k ( not yet overcloced) and i have 350-400 fps with drops to 280 so for 144 hz is sweet

cs go can't utilize more than 4 threads btw, fps is very dependent on high performance per core, it can be old i5 overclocked to 4,5-4,8ghz to get stable 300
2019-11-11 15:34
thats true, but if he wants to upgrade something it should be cpu first because his gpu is pretty decent even for modern games rn, not even talknig about csgo which doesnt need a gpu at all.

I have vega 11 integrated with ryzen 5 2400G 8gb ram 3000mhz I have 150-290 fps in cs go I bought PC for 370 USD and feel free to cry kids who are buying pcs for 2k USD to play cs go on 500 fps hahah
2019-11-11 15:46
upgrade to a 1660ti
2019-11-11 14:18
why?
2019-11-11 14:19
you get way more fps by paying slightly more than a 1060, best value imo At the same time, CSGO is a CPU intensive game, so maybe upgrading CPU wouldn't be a bad option either

GTX 1060 is a powefull GPU even for high demanding games, how the fuck she cannot be enough for CSGO? Even your i5 should do it. I would advise you, reinstalling both OS and the game before buying anything.
2019-11-11 14:23
just buy used 2060

IMO your computer is more than enough for CSGO, and if your FPS are dropping then there is something wrong with your PC I have GTX 1060 as well, but with worse i5 4460 and it is more than fine for CS In some other games FPS are dropping as fuck because of bad CPU, but not in CS Seriously, you should check on your PC But if you need to upgrade, go for CPU first for sure
2019-11-11 14:34
well in some maps like new cache, in mid sometimes it drops to 150 fps... I thought it would be better than that

Even with I9 FPS will sometimes drop below 200 I thought you were saying that your FPS are dropping below 100 Well if you have the money upgrade CPU, but IMO your FPS are fine
2019-11-11 14:50
ok thanks bro
2019-11-11 15:04
If it is new cache lag then its probably a cs bug and not your pc
2019-11-11 15:32
I use 1650 with 60hz and the game stuttering, after i chaged my monitor to 144,it looks smooth and balance
2019-11-11 14:38
yes I got a 144hz monitor too
2019-11-11 14:48
I think the problem is ur windows,if you are using windows 10 Make sure u use the latest version It happened to me too. When i use old version i only got 120fps and i can't update my faceit, after updating the windows version everything looks normal
2019-11-11 15:04
So dropping to 150fps isn't a big deal at all?!
2019-11-11 15:04
It doesn't matters as long as i get 145++fps
2019-11-11 15:05
for me it is. I want 250+
2019-11-11 15:05
But you have a 144hz monitor... the sooner you ditch the psychological need to have 250+ and concentrate on other aspects of improving the better you will be for it. If you are intent on upgrading GPU, I would say waiting a few months for Navi20 and Ampere will be worth it. You should find really nice deals on the rtx gen cards afterwards. If you can't or don't want to wait, Black Friday/Cyber Monday is a couple of weeks away.

2019-11-11 15:07

2019-11-11 15:28
same with me :(
2019-11-11 15:43
I have a 1060 (6GB) and a 7600k aswell and while its true that FPS on cache for example is lower, I still feel no difference to other maps, as I still never get under 200 fps afaik.
2019-11-11 15:23
Buy a rtx 2070 instead of 1080 gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX..
2019-11-11 15:32
CPU always first if u have low fps with high graphics u still can turn them down but if your cpu is too bad u cant do anything about it
2019-11-11 15:32
How much RAM do you have? If you have less than 16GB, buy another stick If you have 16GB+. Pick up a new CPU (ryzen 5 3600x) and then a new GPU.
2019-11-11 15:32
yes I have 16 gb. Ok thx.
2019-11-11 15:44
Just for the record I have a CPU that is basically the same as urs performance wise (i5 6600k) and I used to have a GTX 1060 3gb. I later replaced that 1060 with a 1070 and it did literally nothing for my framerates in CSGO since it is CPU bound.

Yep if you dont want change your motherboard i7 7700k is the best cpu that has the same socket ;) and upgrade rather CPU than GPU cs:go is requiring more CPU performance than GPU

I was running cs with a 1060 6gb and a intel i5 7400 16gb's of ram and a SSD had around 200-250 all the time. Now upgraded my processor to a 9700K and i never drop below 300 while my 1060 doesnt even use 70% of its power. PLEASE DONT UPGRADE YOUR 1060 for more fps in csgo it won't help :)
2019-11-11 16:00

I've 1060 6GB with i5-7600K, and was getting too much fps drops. Unistalled GeForce Experience and now it's smooth as F and easy 300fps on 64tick
2019-11-11 16:13
hmm i should try that
2019-11-11 16:17
type r_dynamic 0 to console to prevent instant framedrops during gunfights(also put it that command in autoexec.cfg) . CS is heavily cpu based game since 1999, 1060 is more than enough for CS:GO. I suggest you to Buy an i7 7700k 4.2 ghz and you can OC it to 4.5 ghz if your motherboard model supports overclocking. Unfortunately your motherboard doesn't support 8th 9th gen cpu's so you're gonna stick with 7700k 4.2 ghz which is more than enough for CS:GO. Download hardware monitor and check CPU tempertures as well. make sure that your cpu temp doesn't go above 65-70. if it does buy a decent cpu fan such as Cooler Master
2019-11-11 16:45
wow thx for the info
2019-11-11 16:44
buying 20series gpu if ur playing csgo fortnite etc. is more or less a waste of money.. they are good cards but NOT even CoD MW supports 100% Ray Tracing
2019-11-11 16:48
cpu temps are very important. high temps cause lower fps. because when the heat goes up ghz gets lower and this leads to framedrops as well. intel's stock fan is useless even if you have the best thermal paste on your CPU
