Im not gonna give my opinion because cya in 10, i think you get it.
Islamophobia is growing every day i would say, with the terror attacks, the muslims taking more and more freedom to impose their religon (26% of muslims in France think that the sharia law should be above the republic's law, thats scary). Right now a debate is going on about if muslim women should be alowed to wear the burka in public, 64% pf french ppl are against that, but the president is turning a blind eye in the name of laicity.
Unlike you apparently, too much of them arent integrating well into our society, and most french are getting tired but moral high ground of minorites is a big issue in the world overall.
Im just gonna quote a few setences and translate as best as i can what De Gaulle used to say about immigration, for most, the best president we ve ever had in the V th republic (1959-1969):
" Those who advocate integration are bums, it's very good that there are yellow French, black French, and black French. They show that France is open to all races and has a universal vocation. But provided they remain a minority otherwise France would no longer be France. We are, above all, a European people of white race, of Greek and Latin culture and of Christian religion. Muslims, did you see them? Did you watch them with their turbans and djellabas? You see that they are not French! "
" We pretended to make african people good frenchmen, It's beautiful equality, but it's not within our reach. To want all overseas populations to enjoy the same social rights as metropolitans, of an equal standard of living, would mean that ours would be halved. Who is ready? So since we can not offer them equality, it is better to give them freedom! Bye Bye you are costing us too much. We can integrate individuals, families, small groups, and again, to a certain extent only, and it takes generations. We do not integrate peoples, with their past, their traditions, their common memories of won or lost battles, their heroes. We can not hold this prolific population like rabbits and these enormous territories at arm's length. "
